Asap329
I'm new to this discussion. My doctor tapered my zoloft from 200 mg/day by reducing it by 50 mg every three days. I am now off. However, I get light-headed and hear the sound of a drummer's metal brush scraping against a symbol, every few minutes. (So far, I've been off of it for two weeks.) No one has ventured to tell me what to expect and for how long. I can take it. Just give me a hint as to how to create a safe place where I can go to get honest feedback how on long I have to wait to start to see improvement. I don't even know. Link to comment
Administrator Altostrata Posted May 28, 2015 Administrator Share Posted May 28, 2015 Asap, you have withdrawal syndrome. This can last weeks, months, or years -- there's no way to tell how long it will take you to recover from it. It can also get worse over time. If it's been getting worse instead of better over the last 2 weeks, if I were you, I'd reinstate 25mg Zoloft, stabilize, and taper more slowly in a couple of months or so. See What is withdrawal syndrome? About reinstating and stabilizing to reduce withdrawal symptoms Tips for tapering off Zoloft (sertraline) I've moved your post to the Introductions section to start your Introductions topic. This is so true, with anything you get on these drugs, dependance, tapering, withdrawal symptoms, side effects, just silent. And if there is something mentioned then their is a serious disconnect between what is said and reality! "Every time I read of a multi-person shooting, I always presume that person had just started a SSRI or had just stopped." Dr Mosher. Me too! Over two decades later, the number of antidepressant prescriptions a year is slightly more than the number of people in the Western world. Most (nine out of 10) prescriptions are for patients who faced difficulties on stopping, equating to about a tenth of the population. These patients are often advised to continue treatment because their difficulties indicate they need ongoing treatment, just as a person with diabetes needs insulin.
