Corrupted psychiatrists and big pharma CEOs are addicts

Just finished reading an amazing article on Zero Hedge, which has been following the economy (and the debt ceiling fiasco in particular). The article below is one of the best things I've read on the net. It draws an analogy between those in government and Wall street as drug addicts not addicted to substances but power and greed. It seems like an obvious metaphor, but the essay is so well-reasoned it's illuminating nonetheless.

 

And of course it can apply to hopelessly corrupted psychiatrists who receive gobs of cash and prestige for their sins (Biederman, Nemeroff, Schatzberg, et. all) and CEOs of big pharma. These people may have once actually been less than evil, but once they realized they had carte blache to basically own the kingdom and gain power, prestige and wealth beyond their wildest dreams, they became hopelessly addicted monsters. When once a toke of weed used to do the job, now only a mainlined speedball will do. The millions of lives ruined by psych meds (including children!) were merely necessary evils to continue fueling their addiction as they chased their "high" of ever greater wealth and just plain more, more, more.

 

And mainstream psychiatry like the APA and the NIMH are the codependent enablers who continue to support this behavior with little to no corrective actions. Read the section on enablers in the article particularly carefully -- it's a knockout.
