I'm about 11 weeks out and things are looking up. I can't wait for 12 weeks so I can tell myself I am 3 months out. I'm going to be okay. I'll taper the remeron soon, maybe in another month. marie123 Posted May 25, 2019 Author Share Posted May 25, 2019 Over 3 months now from traz. I continue to feel good and I am able to exercise finally without getting revved up and wiped out from it. I've lost some weight thankfully and feel clearer and stronger. Muscles are working as they should and are not tense and achey. Joint pains have gone away. My left knee that hurt every time I went down the stairs or had done lots of walking disappeared. I am certain that once I start removing mirt I will lose more weight and feel even better. I was waiting 5 years through tapering/w/d for a time I could push myself. Now is the time thankfully. Keep going folks, it's worth it. Marie 10/13--10/14 Ambien. Started tapering 1/14 Jumped 10/14. marie123 Posted June 10, 2019 Author Share Posted June 10, 2019 I am almost 4 weeks clear of trazodone. It has not been that bad at all. Slight withdrawal/maybe side effects of mirt, who knows. Sleep is good. I've been celebrating my big birthday a few times and have eaten out way too much. I guess I ate the wrong type of food a few days ago-spicyThai food. It was delicious and had leftovers the next day, but it did my stomach in. I had some potato chips later on. If I had to guess it would be the MSG. Yesterday I was very nauseous and today it's been better. I had been eating Chinese food but steamed with sauce on side and had no reactions there. Sushi is fine. I guess there are no bad ingredients in it and it's fresh. So it's safe to assume I have to be careful with MSG. I lost a couple pounds which I like. marie123 Posted June 13, 2019 Author Share Posted June 13, 2019 It's been 4 weeks today that I am free from traz. I realize now that I am not in a wave or had food poisoning. I have a stomach virus of some sort. The only way I know is my poor spouse caught it from me. It's so weird to be glad it's not a wave and just a stomach virus, isn't it? Well with a wave you never know how long it lasts or what you're in for. I am sorry for my husband catching it as he has a business trip coming up. I have a compromised immune system from w/d and also remeron lists it as a side effect. There are things that these meds do to you are unknown, until you put two and two together or start delving into the med's information. Once in a while I get a couple of weird symptoms. My jaw slams shut when I am in a state of being half asleep, either trying to nap or when I wake in the AM. The other symptom is I get weird internal vibrations in my legs not too often, this time in my upper thigh. It feels like the movement of being pregnant and the baby moves or kicks. These both happened today. The weirdest symptom I'm ever gotten is when I am about to fall asleep I hear a loud boom, like a gunshot or bomb. The first time I heard it I jumped up out of bed. I thought there was an explosion. After that time when it happened I just went back to sleep lol. I have not gotten that in close to a year thankfully. Out in life I like to help by doing small things if I can. It makes me feel good and it's good karma. I remember fondly just getting a shopping cart for an elderly asian woman outside of Trader Joe's before I got mine. When I came into the store she was waiting for me and gave me a smile. I gave her a little customary small bow and she bowed back and game me a huge smile. Once my husband and I were picking up our two pizza pies that we ordered. A man was standing outside asking passing people for pizza and said he was hungry. He didn't look like a vagrant, but I figured he was hungry if he was asking. He said he just got out of the hospital, and I'm guessing rehab. I walked out and gave him two slices. I hope he pays it forward. This is a bit embarassing but I think I should put it out there for others withdrawing. Today I feel revved up symptoms of morning nausea, etc. I believe it was from sex. It has happened before. I don't want to see a doctor for an antibiotic. I'm going to see if my immune system can handle it. I've read that Mirtazapine can lower white blood cells. Can you believe that? I had one two months ago and I used an antibiotic and it worked. Sadly I have another one. It's been very hot and humid for weeks here. marie123 Posted July 29, 2019 Author Share Posted July 29, 2019 I'm getting better. Just got through a sinus infection with an antibiotic, bactrim. It gave me insomnia while I was taking it and felt worse the longer I was on it. I've noticed my mornings are a lot less toxic, almost normal. That is a big improvement for me. I have been isolating a lot to give myself time to rest and heal. It's hard to do that in the summertime as I feel the pressure to do stuff. It is good to push myself though, and I find that I am able to more than I think. Some friends and acquaintances of mine drink like a fish. I was never a big drinker, but I would like an occasional beer or glass of wine. I hope someday I will be able to. I have planned a big trip the end of next month with a lot of siteseeing and travel. My plan is to rest up after the trip and then begin my mirt taper. By then I will be 8 months done with trazodone. I have noticed that taperers of mirt, even if they go down 5% a month, experience not so great symptoms. It will be time then to go on the taper/withdrawal merry go round. marie123 Posted August 7, 2019 Author Share Posted August 7, 2019 It's been 6 months free of trazodone now. I continue to improve. I still have some issues but they lessening. I am able to do more like cleaning my house, which has been in dissaray for some years now lol. I can push myself and socialize a bit more, even though I still don't like it. I was always an introvert though. I can plan now and will enjoy my trip in a couple of weeks. I saw the Rolling Stones recently and stood and danced for most of the concert. I am a big fan and finally saw them at the ripe old age of 60. I've always felt and looked younger. I have had a lot of dental work done this year and more to come partially due to the meds and dry mouth. Some of it is due to previous bad dentistry. I just had a root canal today, and probably two more to come. Oh well. I have a great dentist and endo. No revving up, so that's good. Good luck everyone. Marie 10/13--10/14 Ambien. marie123 Posted August 15, 2019 Author Share Posted August 15, 2019 I spoke too soon. I dove into the "6 month wave" a few days ago. I should have known since I did much more than I am used to. I usually try and isolate as much as I can and rest. It's summer and I get more of these invitations, go here, go there. I've gone to a couple recently. Some I'm sure think I'm antisocial, but I don't care. It's a pretty intense one and I'm just trying to relax and get through. I have a big trip coming up next week and I hope I improve enough to go. Maybe I'll go anyways and just relax there. There is one thing I know about withdrawal, is that is unpredictable. I can feel horrible one day and good the next. I'm going to dinner tonight with long time friends, so I'll have to fake it a bit. I won't be replying to messages for the next couple weeks, or at least until this wave is done. I appreciated your story about trazodone as I just made a big chomp to my dose due to side effects (not planning to do that again) . The nausea is not fun but it made me feel better to know you had it too (though sorry you did/do)! In addition, what your flu-infection-but-it's-really-trazodone story made me realize I was probably having withdrawal from restoril/temazepam that I was taking twice a week or so; I got the flu, stopped suddenly and got very sick for 2 months, then immediately after my gabapentin nightmare began when the doctor started the fast taper. Also makes sense why I was so profoundly affected by the gabapentin, with a recent flu and recent cold turkey off benzo (I hadn't realized I had some degree of dependence using it a few times a week for about a year, duh). Now: 100 mg Zoloft am, 50 mg Trazodone. This six month wave started with the benzo flu (poisoned, weak, jet lagged along with regular flu symptoms (but not the real flu). The next two days the benzo flu was gone, I was weaker with a little less weak the next day. Next day it was insomnia, getting sleep but more awakenings and waking up much too early. It's almost interesting to see it play out. I wonder what tomorrow will bring lol? I'm still going on my big trip. It should have morphed to something decent by then. Feel better people. I did not adjust my doses for a different time zone so that screwed me up a bit. I need some time to stabilize my meds now that I'm on the old time zone. I'm going to get some dental work done and then start the mirt taper. I'm so looking forward to starting and getting this drug out of my system. I have been getting the regular Novacaine shots and I do okay with them. I get a bit jittery for a short time. I had listened and got the non-epi shot called carbocaine once and it set me back for some days. My theory is it was a new drug, and my brain does not like new drugs lol. I have been jet lagged since I got back from the West Coast. I think it is going to take longer to get over it. Also, the 3 hour difference caused me to take the mirt 3 hours earlier (like an updose), and then go back to the regular time here in NY. So here I am waiting for it all to pass. I feel lke I have to juggle my taper between going on trips, big occasions, getting ill, etc. The plan is no vacations for the next year, keeping holidays simple, and try not to get sick this season lol. I tried to come off it after only being on it 2 wks (back in June 2019) and had a ton of withdrawal effects and ended up having a panic attack. Fast forward 2 1/2 mo and I'm down to less than a quarter of a pill and getting ready to jump off soon. It's great knowing you're not the only going through this. Best wishes on the your taper! Start of June 2019 - began trazodone 50 mg and lexapro 5 mg. June 17 - quit traz cold turkey and ended up with lots of side effects. Jun 21 - back on traz. Most symptoms subsided within a few days. August 1 - cut to 25 mg traz. Moderate WD affects for a few wks. August 17 - cut to 12.5 mg. Mild symptoms for a few wks. September 4 - cut to ~6 mg. Mild symptoms for a few days. September 18 - cut to ~3mg. Light symptoms for a few days. September 25 - cut to 0mg traz. Mild symptoms about a wk after cessation. Supplements - Doctor's best magnesium glycinate, viva omega 3s, kyolic garlic, garden of life zinc, jarrow l-theanine. Link to comment

I jumped off at a similar amount and had a ton of w/d symptoms that hit me weeks later. I had to reinstate. Please be cautious. I'm almost 7 months clear of trazodone. It's been 7 months free now. I have to really wipe it clean from any dust/particles of trazodone. I was down so low that it really was just tiny bits. I survived the oral surgery and once this heals a bit more in a week or so I'll start the mirt taper. This pill is so tiny and since it's a strong med I hope my weighing/ cutting will work. The 7.5 mg dose weighs about .076 grams average so I'll use that amount to taper off. I cut to .073 grams. I kept waking up every hour or so, but at least I slept. I feel tired today, a bit dizzy and certainly "off", but the only way out is through. A family member will be getting surgery soon and I'll be the caretaker which will be extremely stressful. There's still some w/d along with s/e's from it but it's okay. Some doing a mirt taper say that you also get hit about 2 weeks out, so I'll wait and see before I make a cut. I'm just feeling out the taper this month so I can get into a good tapering groove. Did anyone see the CNN Lisa Ling episode about benzo withdrawal? Wow it was so good. marie123 Posted October 15, 2019 Author Share Posted October 15, 2019 Hi everyone. I'm still holding at 7.2 mg mirt. I'm getting more than usual fatigue and lethargy in the morning. I am getting 8 or more hours sleep which is actually too much for me. I think it's the same type of fatigue I got when I first started mirt with extreme fatigue and lethargy. Lots of chilling nightmares. Perfect for Halloween! I am 5 years out from Ambien. I took it for 10 months. It's an evil med with lots of physical symptoms. It's about 8 months free from trazodone. Traz was very nasty and difficult to taper off of. Lots of physical symptoms. Seems like a trend--meds affect me mostly with physical symptoms. Mirt seems like it's going to take a long drawn out taper. Sometimes I think I'll just cut fast, but I come to my senses after reading other's experiences. I got my flu shot several days ago. I haven't gotten one in years and was too afraid especially during withdrawal from these meds. I decided that no matter what I was going to get one since I had the flu the last two years. The flu two years ago was very, very bad. I was sick for one month and it took one month to recover. I did worry about getting into a wave from the shot. I did not but did experience cold-like symptoms for a couple days. My significant other also got the shot and experienced this, but to a lesser degree. The flu is supposed to be very bad this year. Australia had a particularly bad time we it. The US follows what happens there, as it is likely we'll have the same issues. It was a quad shot with no preservatives. Be well people. The Mirt tiredness and lethargy that I have in the morning was always there before tapering and is worse now. I started last night taking the Mirt dose earlier (10 minutes). I will slowly take it earlier and earlier to hopefully diminish some of this deep fatigue.I think I will move it back until 9:30 pm (I take the dose at 10). If that helps, I will move it back to 9 pm. I felt a bit better today since I moved the dose back last night. Bedtime is at 10:30 pm. Marie 10/13--10/14 Ambien. Started tapering 1/14 Jumped 10/14. It's such a small cut. I have lots of nausea, loose, stools, dizziness, etc. Can a moderator please check my thread out and help me with this dilemma? I was thinking about going back to my original dose and cutting smaller once I stabilize. I was able to find a compound pharmacy that is willing to convert my pills to liquid.
