Miracle123: Lexapro withdrawal

Recommended Posts

jozeff

Hi miracle,

Good to hear from you. Too bad you feeling wavy.....you'll enter a window sooner or later but you will!

A massage sounds good. Is always a great method to release stress. I'm bald so the cutting hair thing I'll have to skip (middle aged father here so no problems there😉)

I started a citalopram taper in April 2018 and decreased 0.1 mg every day. After 85 days I crashed so I stayed on 16.5 mg for a couple of weeks. I felt so bad that I updosed to 18 mg to feel better. That didn't really help because my body had to get used to that dose also. I'm on 18 mg citalopram now since August 14th 2018. Feel pretty stable....not good but stable. Some good days, some bad ones but not extremely anxious or depressed like in my taper.

I want to start brass monkeys slide method soon. I'm thinking about 2.5% per week with a 3 week hold. But, I need to be absolutely as stable as possible before I start tapering again.

You talk about the astron method in your intro topic. What does that mean, I cannot find anything about it? You did taper Lexapro in 6 months if I'm correct.

Did you reinstate?

Good luck with your wave and hope some light may shine upon you very soon!!

Cheers

Jozeff

Hi Jozeff, Thanks for coming in.

Sorry for my poor grammar😥 because actually english is not my native language. For the Ashton Method as per below link.....i learn from benzobuddies forum and mostly members learn this method for their tapering of benzo like lorezapam,diazepam.....etc all benzo familys. But for AD i dont think suitable but you can just as a guidance.

The Ashton Manual - Benzo.org
https://www.benzo.org.uk › manual

Even though myself also considered fast taper (5mg lexapro im done in over 1 months plus)....this will be a risk for protacted withdrawals. So dont  take risk of it. Luckily my withdrawals right now not so extremed but sometimes feel suffer and uncomfortable too.

If your body got bad reactions for 0.1mg every day.....i think you need to be more slowly . Im remember when the lower doses the withdrawals is really hard and uncomfortable.....but you have to keep patience and keep stable until you feel better. Hope brass monkeys slide method will help you. He got a lots great and helpful information in this forum.

Good luck with you next step tapering and hope everything will be going smooth for you too. Take care.

Hi Jozeff, Im never reinstated any AD......at early stage is not easy and like a hell but over time passed i feel much much better now with more like windows and waves. I have to forced myself to come off all because i got really bad reaction when on lexapro (more panic attack, anxiety, shaking, heart and mind racing so much).....so right now i will not look back and keep going hope to see light one day. I hope you too and take care.

Updated.

Today is 13 mths off Lexapro and 14.5 off lorezapam. For me ... from 10 to 12 mths is like a setback of my withdrawals. Some withdrawals already dismiss and coming back again on and off. Sometimes i feel so extremed like im never recovered. But so curious after hits with those extremed and worse ......i will be more better for one day window or so.This is routine process and same pattern over these few months.....

So far my withdrawals is......

1  Still heart pounding .....mostly night after wake up or panic attack but this no longer long and just few minutes  (mild)

2   Head pressure....i hate the most.....sometimes few numbness or painful over my face, nose, eyes, throat, neck and ears. I think this related to noise and light sensitivity too.Sometimes feel the sunshine and light made my eyes heavy feeling.....About the noise sensitivity i have it but now no longer anymore..

3  Electrical shock and pulse racing....this really getting less by over time passed and getting very mild

4  Mind racing, tembling or shaking whole body....all getting less noticetable and mind....especially mind racing im just feel it at night only (mild)

5  Dark depression or moody....This will getting worse during menstrual cycle...but its normal for me

6  Morning cortisol still feel it and but getting better when wake a bit heavy or whole body not good but after keep moving will back to normal...

7 Agitation or like itching or feel like whole body wanna moving....especially at night only like my both legs or hands wanna move but getting better.

9 Fear or phobia ......i can cope better with relax and meditation..

10 Food sensitivity ....still with me.....i have to becareful when eat or drink something...

I think so far im remember this is all my withdrawals and over time passed i can feel better if compared to 6 months ago....Healing is happen and just a matter of times but very very slow progress....

Hope everybody here good in healing and recovery. Thanks for reading......😉

Hi Miracle. Good with an update, it still seems rough for you. It's easy to feel like there is no progress but like you say it's just very slow, but it's there. How are you doing at the moment? Are you still in the same wave?

 Take care, hugs.

Hi Miracle,

Im sorry you’ve got so many symptoms but as you said you’re better than six months ago which is a blessing. In this journey we have to look at the smallest blessings n be grateful for them n know that one day we will all heal. It is hard but we can do this.

You sound really busy. Please make sure to rest as well n not overdo it as you can make your symptoms worse.

Sending sunshine your way☀️☀️

Hi Carmie, Thanks for coming in and you are so sweet, my sweetheart. Im keep away these few days with my busy works and need to meet some dateline.

Actually these few day im so down with bad moody, anger and hit by some waves. Maybe stress work and rushing for some projects made me anxiety or panic attack. Im always trying to calm down and take a fresh air to keep moving. My hubby not around for 2 weeks for business trip. Actually im affraid to stay alone and lonely inside house. But feel tired to go outside or hang out with friends. Feeling so down.😂

im also trying to stay away from reading any sad story or negative though which made me heart feeling so sad. Thanks for your caring word....im appreciated so much.i will take a rest and not to over do it. Hope you will be stable and well too.Hugs and sending my sunshine right back to you.🌞🌞

Hi Miracle,

Im so sorry you’ve been in a bad mood and angry. Those nasty neuro-emotions keep popping up their head. Yes, fresh air is a good idea. You don’t need to walk far or go out for long, I find even fifteen minutes surrounded by nature can lift the mood the mood a bit.

Are you afraid of being at home on your own for two weeks because you don’t feel safe or because you’re struggling to cope with withdrawals on your own? Do some things to treat yourself n cheer up your place. Buy yourself some flowers or pot plants n bring them indoors if you struggle to get outdoors much. Get yourself some yummy, healthy treats.

Another thought just came to my mind which made me laugh, borrow a friend’s dog🐶😂

I know it’s not always easy being around people when withdrawals are severe but I make myself still catch up with friends as it’s a good distraction n it gets you out of your head a bit. I’ve caught up with friends in waves n I didn’t feel like myself at all. At times you can’t even feel who you are, you’re a stranger to yourself. My friends take me as I come though.

If you have friends that you feel comfortable around maybe invite one over. Sometimes one on one is better if you feel overwhelmed, but I find at times too that having at least two friends around makes it easier as the focus is not always on you. They don’t have to stay long, you can tell them you’re not feeling well but really appreciated their company.

I caught up with a friend a couple of weeks ago when I was feeling so shocking. I got a bus to a cafe n she drove me home. We probably caught up for an hour, but that boosted my spirits.

I know how you feel about reading the sad stories on this site. It breaks my heart too. We will all eventually get there in the end though.

Take care💚💚

Hi Carmie , Thanks for those warm advise and caring.......Thinking about to borrow my mum dog tomorrow......😂joking. Actually i love so much puppy and kitten.....they are so cute.

Yup.....affraid to stay at home when im feeling not well or feeling no security. I will trying to cope my probia with anything i can do it........example on all light at home , on my favourite music , reading books or watching televisyen until im feel tired and fall asleep. If still cant ......i drive to my mum house and stay overnight with her.....she just about 30km from my home is a great choice.

Hope your waves will getting less and better too. Sending sunshine your way☀️☀️

Hi Miracle, how are you doing lately? Hope you're doing okay whether you're still by yourself in the house or with your partner.

Stress can be very upsetting during withdrawal but unfortunately there's not always a way around it. Being kind to ourselves and accept the situation can help sometimes when it gets too much. Big hugs to you!

Quick Update......Yesterday i got a tetanus injection after accidently cut my hand by a rustly metal. Actually is small injuries but i need to take precaution affraid been infected by harmful virus.Overall still dealing with my waves everyday and still trying to figure out and take note. Its up and down....sometimes feeling good and sometimes so moody or depression.

After took injection feeling whole body so hot and sick......only today feel a bit better.

Withdrawal can really minic menapause sydrome........sometimes im feel like i got very hot flushes .....later feeling chill....im also feel heart pounding or anxiety......im feeling moody or angry....This is all similiar to menopuase or peri-menopause....but when i ask doc....she just smiling and say too early for me to reach this stage....But really confusing so much.

Hope all here doing fine and well. Thanks for reading....

Hi miracle!

I hope you get better soon!

It's a change in your body this injection and that might cause some disturbance. Too bad this happened but hey, getting tetanus is a lot worse.

This mimicking stuff is pretty nasty but also interesting. Menopause I cannot comment about but other symptoms like backpain, depressed feelings, anxiety all seem a lot worse then before I ever took my citalopram that's for sure.

I hope you jump out of your wave soon and you will be healing again!!

Cheers

Jozeff

Of course im feel blessing with my positive feedback , at least not scary me so much.😆

Hi Miracle,

I’m really sorry you’ve had a setback because of the tetanus injection. You will eventually stabilise again, it might take some time though. Please don’t get discouraged. I’ve been in waves for pretty much over three months but the windows are coming now. They ALWAYS come eventually.

When people say things like they are going to get a flu injection I really start to cringe. Anything like that can play havoc while going through withdrawals. We are so extra sensitive. I’m so sorry again that the tetanus injection hit you hard.

Thank you for the sunshine💚💚

Hi miracle!

I really hoped the injection worked well for you. Too bad you are having WD symptoms ramped up.

I know these injections may cause extra symptoms and stuff. Could it be that you expected negative effects and that this expectation is worsening your misery a bit. Like a self fulfilling prophecy.

Don't get me wrong! I don't say that you are not suffering. I know that if I expect some negative effect from something I sure as hell get those symptoms!

This might be the case so you might be better soon. I do t know but it could be.

What's for sure is that you will get better anyway pretty soon. If your CNS is stable again you will be fine again.

Happy healing and wish you the best!

Hi Miracle, I'm sorry to hear about your setback. I experienced this with a steroid shot and antibiotics. Our cns really is so sensitive during withdrawal. Please know that this, too, shall pass. You will stabilize again and continue to heal.

Please be careful when took any vaccination especially during withdrawals and recovery. Individual is different but this time to proof that my body still need time to healing and still over sensitive. I couldnt believe myself still hit so badly after 14 months off of lexapro. Until yesterday im still feeling unwell and not stable yet.........

After 11 days i took this injection.......im hit with very hard waves but in the same time my period also mess up too.....urggghhhh....i hate this. My last period just over about 1 1/2weeks ago. If im calculated by right this too early for another menstrual cycle but suddenly come back bleeding yesterday....OMG terrible mess up. Unbelievable the impact for this injection will mess up so many things. NEXT TIME I WONT TAKE ANY INJECTION.

Luckily i go to acupuncture on sunday will help me released a bit muscle tension......at least my neck, head area not so tense and tighting. But just one time acupuncture im cannot give any comment yet. Need to go for second session this sunday.

Hope im will be back to my window and waves pattern and stable stable very very soooooooonnnnnnn....

Take care all.😂
