Hi, I have been taking Citalopram 20mg for about 10 years. I tried to come off about two years ago, but I did it very quickly and it was bad.

I am trying to come off again, as I am worried I won't be able to get them in the future as I will not have the jab, and will probably have to go and live in the forest or something.

I have been looking at how to make liquid solution with my tablet and water. But I find it too difficult to understand, what amount to take, etc. I have been shaving my tablet but I know this is inaccurate. I have been getting withdrawal symptoms. I am really sensitive to everything so I know I need to micro taper, but I just can't understand how to do it. All the information here is so good, and so thorough, but I can't understand it.

Hello, and welcome to SA.  We are a peer owned and run forum of people who have been or are getting off of psychiatric drugs.  I just want to congratulate you for trying to get off in the past, and say that you can come off this drug if you taper in the correct way.  You have come to the right place.

First of all, can you please give us specific information about your drug history for all drugs you are on and have been on, especially for the past 18-24 months?  It would be especially helpful to have the details of your drugs in a concise list (no symptoms), only drug names, specific dates (as best you can say for example early March if you don't recall the day) and dosages of each medication decrease or increase.  Please read the link below for instructions.  This will allow us to give you the best guidance.

Here is some information about how these drugs actually work.  This will explain why you have withdrawal symptoms.  What symptoms are you having?

There are a couple of ways we suggest tapering at SA.  Since you said you are very sensitive to everything, I will suggest the Brassmonkey micro tapering method.

This next link will give you info on how to make a liquid out of your Celexa.  A liquid is good, because it is easy to adjust and measure the dose, and go down to very small doses.  You can buy a liquid citalopram in the UK, or you can make it yourself.  This link explains how:

Also, as we are recovering, we suggest keeping things slow, simple, and stable. This is extremely important.

When we recover, there are times of feeling OK mixed in with times of feeling bad.  This is called windows and waves.

We don't suggest many supplements, but 2 that many of us find helpful are magnesium and omega-3 fish oil. Here are the links for info about those. It is suggested to add one at a time, and start with a low dose to see how it affects you.

Please let us know if you have any questions.  I know it can be confusing and overwhelming, all the information on our site.  The staff here have all been what you are going through and can help you.

Please do not private message me.  Only tag me for urgent questions about tapering and reinstating - thank you.
