Mowie18
Hello, I'm not sure how these postings work so forgive me if I'm not doing this right. I was put on Prozac 28 years ago at age 15. 6 years ago when I wanted to have a baby so I changed to Zoloft. After doing a Genesite test I saw that Zoloft might not be the best fit for me. Instead of changing drugs I decided to try going off since I have always wanted to. I am stable currently with a lot of support. I began tapering from 75mg at the beginning of September. Early November I was down to doing 12.5 every other day and then stopped completely. The doctor told me to go at this pace. I was doing great, and not having any symptoms, just occasional irritability. Now all of a sudden after being off for 2 weeks I am not able to sleep, at all. I feel like my life is falling apart because I am not functioning well without sleep. I've become very negative and hopeless. I don't know how to spend my nights because I just become panicked. The doctors have given me ativan and Trazadone but I am very reluctant to use those. They also said I can try going back on Zoloft or start Prozac. After reading many posts and doing research it appears I maybe didn't tapper long enough. I feel so torn, do I go back on a small dose and try this all over again months from now? Or do I just keep waiting out the storm? Will I ever sleep again? Any advice is welcome. Moderator Onmyway Posted December 2, 2022 Moderator Share Posted December 2, 2022 Dear @Mowie18, welcome to SA. Seems like you are suffering from withdrawal symptoms from zoloft. It is not unusual. Can you please summarize your drugs in a drug signature so that we are able to give you better advice? I would avoid taking trazodone or ativan as they may actually make things worse for you as your nervous system is likely hypersensitive right now. https://www.survivingantidepressants.org/topic/27800-hypersensitivity-and-kindling/ You can try reinstating a small dose - we can recommend about 1mg but it would be best if you first let us know your drug history so we can make sure to give you the best advice. How to List Drug History in Signature - Introductions and updates - Surviving Antidepressants It might help to read about reinstatement before you attempt it. Mowie18
@OMW, I feel less emotional, but still a lot of insomnia and night time panic. If I get sleep, during the day I am fine.
