This sounds like the kidneys might be involved too .

What about Natural remedies?

Passiflora is nature’s Valium. I’ve heard of others too. It’s so hard when you are in this suffering.

Its interesting what ppl are writing about probiotics.

Yeh I just found this out last week about the kidneys and clear urine. I need to press the GP about it.

Natural remedies for the kidneys or calming stuff? I've mostly avoided taking anything for years natural remedy wise.

The new overactive bladder medication (Tolterodine) hasn't done anything positive but give me dry mouth in the 2 weeks I've been trying it.

Have you had the camera to confirm the IC diagnosis India?

April 2007 -  Seroxat 20mg

August 2008 - Cold Turkey

August 2009 - Cold Turkey

November 2009 - Reinstatement adverse reaction akathesia/suicidal/anxiety

March 2011 - Start taper

November 2012 - Crash badly at 1.25mg akathesia/suicidal/extreme anxiety

January 2013 - 5mg Seroxat, 300mg  Lyrica

April 2017 - Successfully get off Seroxat with taper followed by 4 month of withdrawal

January 2018 - Start with constant urinary urge/pain/burning/genital sensations 2 week after anxiety/akathesia ends

January 2019 - Started reducing Lyrica as I suspect it's causing frequent urination, tinnitus, fatigue, brain fog and mental decline.

December 2019 - Off all pysch meds

Raw Parsley is a great kidney, UT detoxifier. It helps to break down kidney stones/debris and flush out the Urinary Tract. Juicing it is very strong and detoxifying. Making fresh parsley tea if more mild. I used a combination of parsley and other herbs (Uva Ursa, Gravel Root, Marshmallow root, Hydrangea root) along with foot reflexology and castor oil packs to get my kidneys and UT in much better condition. I'm peeing far more than I was and staying hydrated better, and overall much less lower back pain. I'd look into those herbs.

Took Accutane in 2007 at age 19 and a severe reaction to it threw me into Psychiatry's dirty hands. Suffered through a number of c/t's, rapid tapers, drug switches, reinstatements before finally figuring out what was happening to me in 2012 after checking out of psych hospital with a prescription for Ativan and Prozac. (Went in because was unknowingly in Xanax c/t wd and dying at the time from it).

May 2016 - Last dose of Valium after 2 year long taper from 15mg

June 2017- Last dose of the corticosteroid Hydrocortisone after taper

July 2019- Last dose of Prozac after 2 year long taper from 30mg

Was on Accutane, Lexapro, Celexa, Xanax, Ativan, Prozac, Hydrocorisone, Valium, and thyroid meds when none of them were needed. Still recovering to this day and hope to be healed in the coming months, but taking it one day at a time.

Has anyone had any significant urinary issues while coming off of ADs?? I've noticed ever since my poop out on Lexapro and Prozac down-dosing that I've been having problems....frequency, urgency, leakage, pelvic pain, lower abdominal pain, etc. Thought I had a UTI a few months back but the culture came back negative...my GYN thinks it could be overactive bladder (OAB) or interstitial cystitis (IC) which makes sense.

I have a history of UTIs before I was ever put on ADs so I think maybe this could be contributing to my symptoms. But I never had an long lasting symptoms until I was on Lexapro - my bladder would occasionally get irritated after coffee and alcohol use.

Fast forward and now way more symptoms. I also have IBS so that doesn't help but it's not that bad right now, but sometimes I have what feels like bladder pain and crazy urgency when I have a bowel movement or pass gas. I'm also experiencing vulvar pain which is new as of a couple days ago.

Has anyone's urinary symptoms improved over time or gone away completely?

Lexapro: 2013 - mid August 2019 (20mgs, to 10 mgs for 1 week then 0mgs)

Zoloft: March 2018 - ? (200mgs - unsure of duration, around 2-4 weeks maybe; down to 100 mgs for 1 month, 50 mgs for 1 month; reinstated 20 mgs Lexapro shortly after)

Wellbutrin: mid August 2019 - mid September 2019 (150 mgs then CT)

Prozac: early October 2019 - 20 mgs  to 40 mgs on 11/24/2019; 30 mgs in July 2020; 20 mgs Sept 2020; 10 mgs October 22 2020; 15 mgs 11/13/2020

Boris,

You WILL get through this.

As others on this forum have suggested, (and a theory that makes sense), that in WD terms, the body is systematically repairing each "system" so that it can go back to a state of "homeostasis".

While its doing this, we are going to experience discomfort for some time.

Sometimes we just get one symptom, sometimes multiple, and they can come out of the blue.

What is paramount here is self-care, and babying ourselves through it.

Sending you healing thoughts,

JC

This! Thank you for your wise words. I'm currently going through the same thing as most other people here, the pressure, urgency, frequency etc...and this post just made me smile.

Thank you!

Yes, this has gone away completely. It was partially from the Ambien taper and mostly from the Trazodone taper. What helped was avoiding any citrus, coffee, tomato sauce and spicy things. Warm baths with I think baking soda helped the ph become more alkaline that acidic. Desitin ointment helped too. I still get frequent urination sometimes but the burning stopped. I had bladder spasms too. They were the worst. Be well. Marie.

10/13--10/14 Ambien. Started tapering 1/14  Jumped 10/14.  Done.

I’m relatively new here but all of a sudden, 4-5 days ago, I started having all these symptoms:  frequent urge to urinate, pressure, inability to empty bladder all the way, a host of weird abdominal sensations, constipation (which I have had in the past due to hypothyroidism), and strange sensations along my sides.

It’s like my entire mid-section is freaking out all at once.  I’m drinking unsweetened cranberry juice and taking some cranberry capsules, and applying hot packs to my abdomen.

It is difficult to leave the house right now so I have not been to a doctor.  I’m hoping that these symptoms can be chalked up to withdrawal(?).

Kind of distressing.
Thanks,

Cathy

Yes I have gotten some of the leakage. This is something that happens to women who have had children and as they age. It's normal but I do think that w/d exacerbates it some. When I sneeze it happens sometimes lol. It can happen like this even in your forties, sometimes younger if you have a lot of children. Kegels help. I've never had incontinence and I am 63. Stay away from anything carbonated too to help with the burning. Be well. Marie.

I started to suffer from problems with emptying my bladder when I started Lexapro. I felt like I peeing did not start normally and I had problems with peeing. Back then I did not understand Lexapro was the cause. I started to suffer from chronic UTIs during Lexapro and I had to use a lot of antibiotics during that time and finally antibiotics for a long time to prevent  UTIs. It had really really negative effect on my gut. I started to avoid sugar back then, drink cranberry juice often (when I noticed any mild symptoms) and drink a lot, take cranberry capsules and a supplement called d-mannose. I also tried to remember to dress warm clothes when it is cold temperature. After it I got some relief and also when I started to take lower dose of Lexapro. My chronic UTI got better  for years, not completely but I had less infections.

After Lexapro and during withdrawals from different meds I started to suffer from polyuria and nocturia. I had  constantly go to pee and I still do have to go more often than normally.During night time also. I have had constant bladder issues , sensations like bladder does not empty well.

Somehow things have been better and nocturia and sleep have been better.  i have been able to avoid antibiotics, and UTIs during wd. Unfortunately now I think I got UTI.

I have been trying to treat it without antibiotics. I started to take cranberry capsules, drink a lot (also cranberry juice), today I tried a bit vitamin C too that some say is beneficial and eat lots of foods that are considered anti-inflammatory. Actually I am a bit scared to try supplements because I am so sensitive but I have tried mybest to treat it without antibiotics.Unfortunately it seems like infection isnt healing :( I am scared of kidney infections so I propably have to take antibiotics if UTI is found on the tests. I have heard it can go away on its own. I am also scared of antibiotics because I am really sensitive.

I’m gonna share this here not to discourage anyone but to maybe help identify someone’s  symptoms and causes. I am no dr , this is just something I read in my journey.

@peaceandloveYes as with other wd symptoms with self help and diet changes it does get better and resolve with time. Once you know whether it’s wd or not then acknowledge, accept, and float.

I came here just to see bc I recently reduced my dose again and out of the blue I need to see a urologist. The pressure and constant need to go is leaving me so stressed out!!!!! I wondered if there was a connection. Doing everything I can to help, otc bladder pain pills and hormones in case it’s menopause, but my goodness, this is life altering :( I hope it resolves itself.

*Currently at 3.3mg off my 10mg pill of Paxil (they actually weigh 12.5mg) so I’m around 7.4 mg

*No other supplements or vitamins

*Taper schedule in the pdf

This article a the first line says. ”Anticholinergics, specifically antimuscarinic agents, are the most common medications prescribed for overactive bladder (OAB).”

so if we remove those, maybe that’s why these symptoms can pop up? Or is this not correct thinking?

About 4 months after I stopped taking Seroquel I developed Nocturia. It seems that many people on all different medications develop this and other urinary symptoms.  As I am coming to understand things better and better it seems that what causes this is the autonomic dysfunction or dysautonomia that occurs as a result of being in withdrawal and Post Acute withdrawal and it is something that for most will clear up in time.
