Lexparo 10mg user for 2.5 years. Last dose was 2/27/2008 after a fast 1 month taper. Recovered around 2011. Had issues with depression, anxiety, akathasia, inner restlessness, vertigo, insomnia, loss of appetite, eye floaters just to name a few. Basically rode it out, employing the Dr. Claire Weekes method.

Took Cipro in July of 2014 and have been having set backs with nausea, vertigo, anxiety (racing thoughts), and depression the last half of 2014.

Hi Aeroman,

So happy to hear you and the great news that you are doing well!

Been thinking of you often.

Hope you continuous healing!

Lex

Thanks!  Yeah, I wish I never took Cipro, or even Lexapro for that matter.  But, I am doing better now than this time last year.  I was so freaked out.  How have you been?

indeed, these poisons destroyed so many great lives!

unfortunately I dont have great news to share, it seems my journey to freedom swirled quickly to a very hard and dark place under much deeper water.

You take care and keep the good progress!

Checking in here...I'm still doing good.  I had a small episode of anxiety and depression that lasted 2 days but that went away.  So far so good :)

Hope you all are well.  Stay away from Lexapro and Cipro!

WARNING THIS WILL BE LONG
Had a car accident in 85
Codeine was the pain med when I was release from hosp continuous use till 89
Given PROZAC by a specialist to help with nerve pain in my leg 89-90 not sure which year
Was not told a thing about it being a psych med thought it was a pain killer no info about psych side effects I went nuts had hallucinations. As I had a head injury and was diagnosed with a concussion in 85 I was sent to a head injury clinic in 1990 five years after the accident. I don't think they knew I had been on prozac I did not think it a big deal and never did finish the bottle of pills. I had tests of course lots of them. Was put into a pain clinic and given amitriptyline which stopped the withdrawal but had many side effects. But I could sleep something I had not done in a very long time the pain lessened. My mother got cancer in 94 they switched my meds to Zoloft to help deal with this pressure as I was her main care giver she died in 96. I stopped zoloft in 96 had withdrawal was put on paxil went nutty quit it ct put on resperidol quit it ct had withdrawal was put on Effexor... 2years later celexa was added 20mg then increased to 40mg huge personality change went wild. Did too fast taper off Celexa 05 as I felt unwell for a long time prior... quit Effexor 150mg ct 07 found ****** 8 months into withdrawal learned some things was banned from there in 08 have kept learning since. there is really not enough room here to put my history but I have a lot of opinions about a lot of things especially any of the drugs mentioned above.
One thing I would like to add here is this tidbit ALL OPIATES INCREASE SEROTONIN it is not a huge jump to being in chronic pain to being put on an ssri/snri and opiates will affect your antidepressants and your thinking.

As I do not update much I will put my quit date Nov. 17 2007 I quit Effexor cold turkey.

Hello, after 2.5 years use of Lexapro, I told the doctor I wanted to quit the drug because it was making me gain a lot of weight. About five days after finishing the last dose, I started experiencing irritable mood. I also had a hard time concentrating. I started to get physical symptoms the first two months such as headaches, nausea, and insomnia. About month 4, I started to fall into depression and have really bad panic attacks. I even went through the midst of withdrawal during the next two to three years. It got better as time went on so it wasn't horrible the entire three and a half years of withdrawal. But during the first year or so, I pretty much had to stay on standby. I need sooner or later I was going to get out of this but it was hard to believe it while I was going through it. I just felt really numb and have no interest for anything period no energy no motivation. But you'll get through it.

Aeroman, I'm guessing you tapered off the drug but that it was a standard dr recommended taper that was too fast?

Yes.  It was a 1-month taper.  2 weeks of 5mg every day, then 2 weeks of 5mg every other day.  I remember finishing on a Wednesday, Feb 27, 2008.  I felt the initial wd issue that following Sunday.  I didn't reinstate - I just rode it out and it wasn't easy but not impossible either.

Thanks for the additional info on your history.

I got the Weekes audio CD and for whatever reason it didn't resonate with me. But I'm glad it did for you, and does for many others (several have recommended it!). I think there is still a lot of work I can do generally in the area of mindfulness and meditation, and awareness of thinking patterns. There are times I can "talk myself down" when I feel anxiety/panic building, and there are times where I just practice "watching and allowing" it (not struggling or fighting it). I'm not sure which of these approaches is better. Perhaps in the short term talking myself down is useful. But I think ultimately the very counterintuitive approach of simply allowing it to happen and not fighting it is the way to go. Very tough to do though! :)

It will be short lived as it doesn't make any sense otherwise, even for this most incredible situation.

Good distraction over the weekend might be a good idea, just ignore it and let it be.

Sorry I have no good news to report. All part of the process, I guess.
