feelinbetter
Hello, I am currently experiencing significant PTSD after a very traumatic life event. I started 12.5 mg trazedone 1 week ago. It allowed sleep - I thought I could take it as needed but I am wrong. I also tried 3.75 mg Remeron which I was on several years ago. Anyway, I feel so agitated in the morning after spotty sleep. Is it too late to do a quick taper. I've read about the mcpp metabolite and am scared to make things worse. I am barely staying out of our local stress center. Should I switch over to the Remeron, get stable then taper off of that or stay on the 12.5 mg trazedone. Four weeks ago I was completely stable and drug free and then the PTSD hit. Please help! marie123
Don't be scared. You will be okay. How many days did you take remeron and how many days did you take trazodone? If you only took remeron for a few days and then switched to trazodone don't go back on remeron. With trazodone if it was less than two weeks I would rapid taper off it. You might feel lousy for a while maybe a few weeks, but you'll be done with it. I take both meds and I am almost done with traz, but I was on it for a couple years. Marie 10/13--10/14 Ambien. hopeful7
Hello feelinbetter. Hopeful here. I just wanted to say hello and offer some support. I have complex ptsd so have some idea of how you're feeling. I had psychological melt-down about a month ago. Very scary stuff and it took me an age to calm down. If you're able to you could maybe try some exercise. This helps me very much get a handle on any anxiety or panic l may be feeling. Thinking of you and wishing only warmth and good things for you. hopeful ☺ Quit quitiapine on 2nd December 2016. Moderator Emeritus scallywag Posted December 11, 2016 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted December 11, 2016 I'm sorry you're dealing with PTSD and went through the event(s) that prompted it. Generally the less switching of medications you do, the better off you'll be. If the trazodone is working for you at the dose of 12.5 mg, it may be best to stay on it. Your current dose of 12.5 mg is 8.3% of the usual introductory dose prescribed for depression, 150 mg. The issue of metabolites is usually proportional to dose; your risk of problems will be low at a low dose. If you'd rather be off trazodone because you suspect its metabolite is aggravating anxiety, you need to discuss alternatives with your prescribing doctor. That's not a topic we can help you with. This is not medical advice. feelinbetter
Hello, I haven't been on in awhile because I've been trying to stabilize - also, I'm pretty shy so writing on Internet forums is a new thing for me. My situation is a bit better but still pretty sick (went from working and "normal" life to mainly housebound but able to go out and walk and maybe to a quiet restaurant. Anyway, does anyone have any issues with Aurobindo Mirtazapine vs. Teva Mirtazapine? I'm thinking I might be sensitive to generics. I would love to get information regarding this.
