Moderator Emeritus manymoretodays Posted February 11, 2017 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted February 11, 2017 I think there could be some physiological explanation........atmosphere, barometric pressure, etc. that does affect some people's mood or sleep. This new moon was an eclipse as well......plus some comets too I think. Totally rainy and cloudy here though so no sightings. It was always busier back when I worked in the ER. Maybe it's expectations and we should all expect to feel better with each full moon? I don't know. Maybe someone has studied it. Nothing here as far as specific increased WD symptoms. Just continuing to sludge through this winter. I thrive with the longer days and sunlight......always have. Yet have had some "better and decent winters".......that's for sure. Late 2023- gone to emeritus status, inactive, don't @ me, I can check who I've posted on, and I'm not really here like I used to be......thanks. Started with psycho meds/psychiatric care circa 1988. In retrospect, and on contemplation, situational overwhelm. Rounding up to 30 years of medications(30 medication trials, poly-pharmacy maximum was 3 at one time). 5/28/2015-off Adderal salts 2.5mg. (I had been on that since hospital 10/2014) 12/2015---just holding, holding, holding, with trileptal/oxcarb at 75 mg. 1/2 tab at hs. My last psycho med ever! Tapered @ 10% every 4 weeks, sometimes 2 weeks to 2016 Dec 16, medication free!! Longer signature post here, with current supplements. Herb and alcohol free since 5/15/2016. And.....I quit smoking 11/2021. Lapsed. Redo of quit smoking 9/28/2022, and again finally 5/25/24. Can you say Hallelujah?(took me long enough)💜 None of my posts are intended as medical advice. Moderator Emeritus manymoretodays Posted February 14, 2017 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted February 14, 2017 There are 13 full moons/year. I think it goes without scientific proof that yup, full moons effect moods in many. This last one is called a snow moon. Some of the other withdrawal stuff......and the moons effect.......who knows? Interesting topic. I discussed it with some people and I think it is more than just folklore/fallacy that the moon cycles do have an effect. I am no scientist though. Farout
When I was struggling to conceive a few years ago a natural fertility specialist told me that whatever I did, no matter what my temperatures indicated, etc we must make sure to 'try' on the days leading up to a new moon/full moon (I forget which) as - she said - we would be very fertile around those times. I thought it was tosh but was willing to try anything and all my kids were conceived in correlation with the lunar cycle. A couple of friends found this too. Make of that what you will. Maybe the ebbs and flows control more than just the tides. Who knows? March 2003 took two sartroline tablets after a traumatic incident and had a reaction so stopped. I am not sure now whether what I had for the next 18 months was WD after the reaction or the emotional fallout from the traumatic event. Some of it was very similar to WD in hindsight. February 2014 - Took five pristiq (50mg) tablets and three Ativan and had a severe reaction.Extreme withdrawal symptoms for three weeks compounded by visit to naturopath -One week later took 900mg St John's Wort x 3 daily for six weeks - more negative effects and suspected serotonin syndrome - before tapering over three weeks. Last tablet late May 2014.Waves and windows cycle of recovery with longer windows and manageable waves.May 2015 - already in a mild wave, following a usual pattern, I took clarithromicin and amoxicillin for two weeks for a sinus infection which I also seem to have had quite a reaction to. February 2016 - Feeling much better. I still have waves and windows but they are manageable. I'm largely enjoying life again.
Moderator Emeritus Petunia Posted February 17, 2017 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted February 17, 2017 Has anyone experienced worsening or increased symptoms during the full moon. For me personally I have throughout wd. Is there any science reason behind it or is it just a fallacy? I've always thought my sleep quality was effected by the full moon, and many people believe the moon cycles effect them in various ways, but surprisingly, there are no reliable studies to back any of this up, according to the Wikipedia article here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_effect But during withdrawal, our nervous system can become hyper-sensitive, I've had increased symptoms caused by the slightest change in my internal and external environment, things that wouldn't have registered previously. Just because there are no good studies to 'prove' its real (yet), doesn't mean its not real, there's plenty of anecdotal evidence to show that something is happening, for some people at least. I'm not a doctor. My comments are not medical advise. These are my opinions based on my own experience and what I've learned. Please discuss your situation with a medical practitioner who has knowledge of tapering and withdrawal...if you are lucky enough to find one. My Introduction Thread Full Drug and Withdrawal History Brief Summary Several SSRIs for 13 years starting 1997 (for mild to moderate partly situational anxiety) Xanax PRN ~ Various other drugs over the years for side effects 2 month 'taper' off Lexapro 2010 Short acute withdrawal, followed by 2 -3 months of improvement then delayed protracted withdrawal DX ADHD followed by several years of stimulants and other drugs trying to manage increasing symptoms Failed reinstatement of Lexapro and trial of Prozac (became suicidal) May 2013 Found SA, learned about withdrawal, stopped taking drugs...healing begins. Protracted withdrawal, with a very sensitized nervous system, slowly recovering as time passes Supplements which have helped: Vitamin C, Magnesium, Taurine Bad reactions: Many supplements but mostly fish oil and Vitamin D June 2016 - Started daily juicing, mostly vegetables and lots of greens. Aug 2016 - Oct 2016 Best window ever, felt almost completely recovered Oct 2016 -Symptoms returned - bad days and less bad days. April 2018 - No windows, but significant improvement, it feels like permanent full recovery is close. VIDEO: Where did the chemical imbalance theory come from? peng
I was a professional meteorologist for 52 years. There is no correlation worth speaking of between barometric pressure and the lunar cycle. Believe what you will about the moon's influence on mankind's brain & emotions.
