URGENT REQUEST Please consider submitting  for the petition on Prescribed Drug Dependence and Withdrawal currently awaiting its third consideration at the Scottish Parliament. You don't even have to be from Scotland. By clicking on the link below you can read some of the previous submissions but be warned many of them are quite harrowing.

Please tell them about your problems taking and withdrawing from antidepressants and/or benzos.

Send by email to petitions@parliament.scot and quote PE01651 in the subject heading. Keep to a maximum of 3 sides of A4 and you can't name for legal reasons any doctor you have consulted. None of the published articles shed light on what ssri's ... actually do or what their hazards might be. Healy 2013.

This is so true, with anything you get on these drugs, dependance, tapering, withdrawal symptoms, side effects, just silent. And if there is something mentioned then their is a serious disconnect between what is said and reality!

Over two decades later, the number of antidepressant prescriptions a year is slightly more than the number of people in the Western world. Most (nine out of 10) prescriptions are for patients who faced difficulties on stopping, equating to about a tenth of the population. These patients are often advised to continue treatment because their difficulties indicate they need ongoing treatment, just as a person with diabetes needs insulin. Healy 2015

We need to know information about each of the drugs you have taken.  If we do not have the proper information it makes it very difficult for the staff to make suggestions.

For each drug we need to know:

  • the name of the drug
  • the date when you started it
  • if you changed the dose, the date of the change and the new dose
  • the last dose you took of any drug that you stopped

@Manu, we have heard from you in years. Since then, you've gone on a different set of drugs.

It appears you reduced escitalopram from 20mg to 10mg last July? How did you feel after the reduction?

If you got withdrawal symptoms, did you talk to your doctor about them?  Did you talk to your doctor about these symptoms:

Why do you think these are withdrawal symptoms, 3 months later? You might have a sinus infection or other medical problem. This is only a peer support site, we cannot diagnose your pains from afar.

If you've already gotten withdrawal symptoms from reducing from 20mg to 10mg, your proposed reduction from 10mg to 5mg is too fast. See Tips for tapering off escitalopram (Lexapro)

Hi Altosrata,

I got married in 2018 so i was busy in shaping my career and work.

It took me 5-6 months to reduce escitalopram from 20mg to 10mg last July ( March to July)

Since i was taking some herbs and doing yoga which helped me to reduce escitalopram.

It was 1st time in three year that i manage to travel alone out of city for 15 days in the July month.

But after August my stress level has increased and i feel headahce and pricking sensation in head.

I am taking Magnesium as a suplement as of now.

Any other supplement which reduces the withdrwal symptoms of SSRI?

We do not know of supplements that will compensate for tapering too fast. How did you decrease from 20mg to 10mg?

Your were taking clonazepam every day since 2018? How often are you taking it now? How did you reduce clonazepam dosage?

In your signature, please add approximate dates you started each drug.

When you went on escitalopram, did you discuss how you would go off escitalopram with the doctor?

HAHA, how can you even imgaine a doctor would recommend you to take off medicine, my doctor tried to reduce escitalopram from 20mg to 15mg in one go but i did it gradually and slowly, bez i know my body.

I only issue now is the withdrawal sysmtoms like lethargy, headache and bodypains sometimes.

How did you decrease escitalopram? Why do you think your current symptoms are withdrawal symptoms?
