GiaK Posted May 30, 2018 Author Posted May 30, 2018 it will take a while...the last study I was involved with took a couple of years to play out...but yes, I will post the results here once that happens! they'll be posted on my site, too, I'm sure. thank you for participating... (actually this isn't really a study so maybe it won't take that long...it's really a culling of information) and yes, it's a long survey...but one can come and go and not do it all in one sitting. GiaK, thanks for letting us know about the survey. I, too, came off a cocktail of 6 drugs . . . . I took the survey. I could really "feel" Will Hall's influence in the survey, especially his urban shamanism, as he allowed for the mystical, the voices and altered states, that might have had a guiding influence on the decision to withdraw and on the overall experience. That not everything about the so-called "psychotic" experience is bad and needs to be drugged out, along with the person. And the survey allowed for the more practical, as well. So different than other surveys. I felt "liberated" and "validated". Very nicely done. I look forward to reading the results. And, of course, seeing more and more people freed from these toxic drug cages.
GiaK Posted June 3, 2018 Author Posted June 3, 2018 Hi Shep, yay! so good to hear. Also since you like the urban shamanism thing you might like what I'm working on with couple of friends. We'll be launching soon. A community for folks who experience altered states (diagnosed or not...in all their myriad forms) -- anyone who resonates with the work is welcome too... That we might support one another and heal in a society that tells us our experiences are pathological -- we can harness them and learn to embrace and thrive with the gifts that might also sometimes be experienced as burdens. stay tuned! I think we're doing the initial launch in a couple of weeks. (I'll be posting on Everything Matters: Beyond Meds about that too....and mentioned it recently in the post about the dx/label Bipolar) as we come off these drugs we're hoping people will find safe places to learn how to be who we are meant to be...with the support we all deserve. Mentor Happy2Heal Posted June 17, 2018 Mentor Posted June 17, 2018 took the survey, it was hard because I have such a long and complicated history but he gave a lot of opportunities to explain what happened and why. I am eager to see the results. I was originally given first generation anti psychotics as a chemical restraint in a small psych ward where I'd been committed and NOT for any psychotic symptoms I was in fact suffering from PTSD and probably a little depression. I was later given the diagnosis of schizophrenic based off being given that first antipsychotic, as well as my symptoms of PTSD, before PTSD recognized in abuse survivors. I was later given antipsychotics to deal with the side effects and/or the withdrawal symptoms of other psych drugs! what a confusing mess!! I was simply over drugged and inappropriately drugged for over 2/3 of my life it's criminal, really. Taking a break from mentoring, please do not message or tag me, thank you! Got some personal stuff to deal with and am not able to give you my full attention. I will remove this reminder when I am back. Keep on swimming, my friends. 😊 pysch med history: 1974 @ age 18 to Oct 2017 (approx 43 yrs total) Drug list: stelazine, haldol, elavil, lithium, zoloft, celexa, lexapro(doses as high as 40mgs), klonopin, ambien, seroquel(high doses), depakote, zyprexa, lamictal- plus brief trials of dozens of other psych meds over the years started lexapro 2002, dose varied from 20mgs to 40mgs. First attempt to get off it was 2007- WD symptoms were mistaken for "relapse". 2013 too fast taper down to 5mg but WD forced me back to 20mgs June of 2105, tapered again too rapidly to 2.5mgs by Dec 2015. Found SA, held at 2.5 mgs til May 2016 when I foolishly "jumped off". felt ok until Sept, then acute WD hit!! reinstated at 0.3mgs in Oct. 2106 Tapered off to zero by Oct. 2017 Doing very well. Nov. 2018 feel 95% healed, age 63 Jan. 2020 feel 100% healed, peaceful and content PRESENT DAYS: Loving life! ❤️ with all it's ups and downs

Moderator Emeritus manymoretodays Posted October 6, 2020 Moderator Emeritus Posted October 6, 2020 Antipsychotic Withdrawal Survey- Pandemic Update As of August of 2020, the survey is still ongoing........World Wide. Late 2023- gone to emeritus status, inactive, don't @ me, I can check who I've posted on, and I'm not really here like I used to be......thanks. Started with psycho meds/psychiatric care circa 1988. In retrospect, and on contemplation, situational overwhelm. Rounding up to 30 years of medications(30 medication trials, poly-pharmacy maximum was 3 at one time). 5/28/2015-off Adderal salts 2.5mg. (I had been on that since hospital 10/2014) 12/2015---just holding, holding, holding, with trileptal/oxcarb at 75 mg. 1/2 tab at hs. My last psycho med ever! Tapered @ 10% every 4 weeks, sometimes 2 weeks to 2016 Dec 16, medication free!! Longer signature post here, with current supplements. Herb and alcohol free since 5/15/2016. And.....I quit smoking 11/2021. Lapsed. Redo of quit smoking 9/28/2022, and again finally 5/25/24. Can you say Hallelujah?(took me long enough)💜 None of my posts are intended as medical advice. Please discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical provider. My success story: Blue skies ahead, clear sailing
