JamesJohn
I weened off my Welbutrin and almost done weening off my Lexapro. It took almost a year now but with a lot of time staying at the same dose (could've taken a lot shorter amount of time but procrastinated initiating dosage drop). Just wanted to let everyone know that I used 5 htp to help with withdrawal symptoms (mainly light headedness/ brain flashes). and it really helped. I basically stopped the Welbutrin cold turkey with taking about 200 - 300 mg of 5 htp for about a week then lowering the 5 htp dramatically and that really helped. The lexapro is harder but the 5 htp really helps. I don't come on this website often so I you guys are always already talking about 5 htp sorry for the redundancy. I just felt the responsibility to come on here and let everyone know. I was on Lexapro 20 mg and Welbutrin 300 mg and now I'm off. and my sex drive is back and I feel emotionally fine because they were probably a placebo in the first place. good luck Link to comment
Moderator Emeritus Songbird Posted July 3, 2018 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted July 3, 2018 Hi JamesJohn, welcome to SA. Are you off Lexapro already or still tapering? It would be helpful if you could create a signature containing a summary of your med history, including all drugs, doses and dates (starting and stopping). Your signature appears below every post you make. Instructions for creating your signature are here: Please put your withdrawal history in your signature. You can edit your signature here: edit your signature in Account Settings. I'm glad that 5-HTP has helped you to alleviate withdrawal symptoms. Unfortunately, some people have had bad experiences with it during withdrawal, so it isn't a good choice for everyone. We don't tend to recommend many supplements here because individual responses vary so much, and because in withdrawal our systems can be very sensitive and react in unexpected ways to supplements. Anything that messes with neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine can be particularly risky. We have a topic about 5-HTP here: 5-HTP (5-hydroxy-tryptophan) and l-tryptophan Please post all your updates and questions about your situation here in your introduction topic. 2001–2002 paroxetine 2003 citalopram 2004-2008 paroxetine (various failed tapers) 2008 paroxetine slow taper down to 2016 Aug off paroxetine2016 citalopram May 20mg Oct 15mg … slow taper down2018 citalopram 13 Feb 4.6mg 15 Mar 4.4mg 29 Apr 4.2mg 6 Jul 4.1mg 17 Aug 4.0mg 18 Nov 3.8mg 2019 15 Mar 3.6mg 21 May 3.4mg 26 Dec 3.2mg 2020 19 Feb 3.0mg 19 Jul 2.9mg 16 Sep 2.8mg 25 Oct 2.7mg 23 Oct 2.6mg 24 Dec 2.5mg 2021 29 Aug 2.4mg 15 Nov 2.3mg Link to comment
