MarissaS: Post withdrawal from Seroquel and the physiological effects is there something that will help decrease them?

Recommended Posts

My boyfriend is now off seroquel and is having major physiological issues to the point that he is at his breaking point. I’m interested in seeing what others have done to improve this. I also am slowly coming off seroquel and am trying to get a better understanding.

Hi Marrissa, welcome to SA. I am sorry that your boyfriend is suffering from withdrawal. Seroquel is an antipsychotic and needs very careful tapering because of the risk of psychosis in withdrawal. Can you get him to start a topic for himself so we can help him?  We realy need more information before we can make any suggestions, we need the start date, stop date, how he tapered and the doses with each drop. He can put that in his signature  and it would be very helpful. We will need your signature filled with your details too.

Please see our tapering seroquel topic, it may help with your own taper, it needs to be tapered very slowly to avoid the withdraal that you boyfriand now finds himself with. It is very sad that doctors do not know that these drugs need tapering slowly and give their patients schedules that are far too fast.

It is important to have regular holds during a taper to allow your brain to adjust to the lower doses.

Lesson learned, slow down taper at lower doses. Taper no more than 10% of CURRENT dose if possible
