Depersonalisation, derealisation, fluctuating senses of identity, brain fog, confusion, little appetite, severe moments of hopelessness, little memory/recollection of my life. Memories of the day feel like flashes not memories + more. I was at work the last few weeks but have gotten worse at week 4 off completely.

I'm feeling like a severe case, but I guess most people are in this horrorshow.

Did you feel like this before medication?

Not in the slightest. The only reason I was prescribed it was because I had a panic attack and some health anxiety.

If you had of went to the doctor with migraine he would have gave you the same medication. There all a bunch of txxserx

I don't even recognise my own moods so I don't know.

Anxiety, I'm sure is there but again, just trying to survive at the moment.

How are you? I'm loosing track a bit die to all these small posts. Are you on a small dose right now? 

 

What do you mean you don't recognize your symptoms anymore? Sounds like you're having a bad time right now.

 

I'm tapering citalopram myself and have all possible emotions in 1 day. Awful! Anxiety, stress, angry, nauseaus depressed, feeling of derealization. 

Sometimes I'm completely happy and 5 minutes later I feel completely hopeless.

 

Hang in there buddy! It's tough but possible. I wish you all the best in the world. May the windows come your way!!

Citalopram is awful to to get off. Escitalopram in my opinion is as bad as Venlaflaxine to get off, its brutal.

 

At least your tapering. We did Escitalopram cold turkey. Hope ya feel better soon. Im the same as you, im ok for a while, then boom brain feels tight, depersonalized, detached anxiety. It really is bad for people.

 

I just feel sorry for all the people who are continuing to be medicated.

I just feel lifeless. No I'm not on anything at the moment. I had a small window last night where everything felt okay, lasted about 14 minutes then got bad, then another window about half an hour later that felt like a different window but still gave some relief? Hence why I'm not recognising what's happening. I suffered insomnia bad last night and woke up in a sweat a few times. My heart rate has increased to abour 90bpm, resting is usually 50bpm. Thirst has become excessive and tremors have started again. Identify doesn't feel any better, and my partner isn't really understanding, which I can't expect her to. I really feel my life is over.

Take each day. Be kind to yourself and keeping talking.

 

It will go away. Its just your brain and body are all mixed up. It will go back to the way it was.

What hurts the most for me is knowing how a functional brain works, and knowing that when I was 'good', I never would have been able to contemplate what I'm going through now, so how can anybody else understand? It's so brutal and unfair. Even as I write this I get flashbacks of how other people not going through it would interpret it, and that makes me sick.

Are you better now 9 weeks off than the 4 week mark? Really struggling.

Im actually 10 weeks off today.

I can only say i must be getting better from my evidence. I can now get up and say well this is another day. I get out more, i am more positive, i try things again.

 

However, i do all these things feeling muscle aches, head pressure, anxiety, tiredness.

 

For me prior to escitalopram all i had issues with was confidence mainly at work. Now im a disabled mess like everyone else who has had there brains fried with a whole lot of diff symptoms. Also when i was on medication it made me feel rubbish too.

 

Ya gotta tell urself its going to get better. Just ride it like a big wave. If you dont you will find yourself beneath the wave. That unfortunatley is what your doing.

Thanks mate, I'm actually in a window now! That's 2 I've had today. They last for about 15 minutes each. These are the times I know not to go back to the drug, but when I'm in a window it seems like the only option, hence why my partner and family keep getting frustrated. Just hope more of these windows keep coming!

For most they dont work its proven!

 

For some they work... is it Placebo? Did they get better anyways?

 

Again some people feel great? But do they? Lets say that they do feel great. 6 month down the line they stop working so Dr ups the dose. Same again until they cant have no more. So they stop the drug.... BOOOOOOM Withdrawal!!! Then they start given other drugs and the whole cycle starts until they wake up and end up on here.

 

Theres no pill for life!

Hi Leo & Jubbachub

I'm on this nasty Lexapro withdrawal train with you too! I'm having what might be called the 6 month wave these past few weeks. It's the most difficult thing Ive gone through in my life. Constantly questioning myself because of the fear,anxiety, dark depressive thoughts, constant feelings of being scared or impending doom, wondering if I'm losing it but I have to tell myself that I wasn't like this until the withdrawals kicked in so its got to be withdrawals. When the symptoms amp up I remind myself it's my brain healing and I am not my thoughts or feelings as they are all chemical in nature. Hoping a window comes your way soon.

How long and how much lex were you taking?

3.5 years, 10mg. Was put on and off over the last few months which has caused severe complications. I ended up in emergency yesterday and was given another pill (50mg of Chlorpromazine), which distressed and vulnerable I took. I am trying to get a support network in place today to help with this cycle of trying to live without it then having to take something else. Hopetobefree are you doing better now than the first month and a half off?
