Lamotrigine, clonazepam, gabapentin, and lorazepam are all anti-seizure drugs. Which were added for something else other than seizures (I'm assuming anxiety or sleep or something)?

Lamotrigine and gabapentin are for seizure control.

Clonazapem is for anxiety

Ativan is an 'emergency' for seizure control and until this week's panic I used it once every few months.

Without going into what was causing the anxiety -- it could be adverse effects from lamotrigine or gabapentin, or both (or lisinopril) -- you probably could balance out the clonazepam and then reduce it with a doctor who is competent in benzodiazepine tapering. If it turns out your "anxiety" is an adverse effect from one of your seizure drugs, your neurologist will have to be consulted.

Guilietta,

I'm sorry this has become so complicated for you. 😩 I've had that kind of anxiety and it's really hard to deal with.

I wonder if your body just hasn't finished the withdrawals from Cymbalta, especially since you were still having reactions at the end. It's so hard to know. Hang in there. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Now: 100 mg Zoloft am, 50 mg Trazodone.  Daily drug burden decreased from 2050 in 2018 mg to 150 mg 🐢🐢

Zoloft: 1/24/23 increased to 100 mg after suicide attempt 9/17/22 cut 6 mg, 8/14/22 cut 6.5 mg, 5/7/22 cut 12.5 mg 3/20/22 cut 12.5 mg 10/26/21 cut 6 mg 10/17/21 cut 5 mg, 9/17/21 Cut 3 mg,  9/13/21 cut 4 mg, 8/29/21 Cut 2 mg 8/8/21 Cut 3 mg  7/30/21 Zoloft: Converted 25 mg to liquid. I wonder this too. Thath being said I can't endure the panic - particularly the nocturnal.

Another medical thought is that is breakthrough from dulox cessation. Since my dose never decreased (I w as always at 2 tabs a day) - I wouldn't be experiencing WD.

As you say - we don't know the cause of the anxiety and you made excellent points. ;)

It's pretty clear you're having breakthrough or rebound anxiety due to your benzo dosing.

Hello Giulietta, just dropping by to give hugs and say hello. Hope you can work on redistributing the clonazepam so you don't get interdose WD.

Dear all,

Thank you for stopping by my thread and posting words of support. I hope you are well or as well as can be - and tapers going smoothly.

I have wanted to make a post, been thinking of everyone,  and not known what to say. A friend online encouraged me to do so - in spite of my apprehensions.

After about 2 years I am  improved but still a lot of issues with anxiety and sometimes sleep. I know they are the last WD symptoms to go. After being told different things by different MDs,  I have not wanted to post anything. It would be 'what next'  and fuel my own frustration and I also don't like to complain even when things aren't rosy. And I had not had anything positive to comment.

I have days when I feel OK - and many with a lot of anxiety which includes body and limbs (gut tremors, chest pounding, muscle stiffnesss, etc.).  Memory is variable (also linked to anxiety), etc. The disabling morning symptoms (imbalance, contracted thigh muscles and pain, h/a, vision problems, etc.) for 1/3rd of the month have been consigned to the trash bin of history (I hope). :) This is a huge positive and I am really grateful!

Thank you again all for your support and checking on me.

Hugs,

Guilietta 😊

Hi @Giulietta

I just wondered how you were doing??

PREVIOUS medications and discontinuations: Have been on medications since 1996.

Valium, Gabapentin, Lamictal, Prilosec and Zantac from 2000 to 2015 with a fast taper by a psychiatrist.

Liquid Lexapro Nov, 2016 to 31-March, 2019 Lexapro free!!! (total Lexapro taper was 4 years-started with pill form)

---CURRENT MEDICATIONS:Supplements:Milk Thistle, Metamucil, Magnesium Citrate, Vitamin D3, Levothyroxine 25mcg, Vitamin C, Krill oil.

Xanax 1mg 3x day June, 2000 to 19-September, 2020 Went from .150 grams (average weight of 1 Xanax) 3x day to .003 grams 3x day. April 1, 2021 went back on 1mg a day. Started tapering May 19, 2023. July 28, 2023-approximately .87mg. Dr. fast tapered me at the end and realized he messed up. Prescribe it again and I am doing "slower than a turtle" taper.

19-September, 2020 Xanax free!!! (total Xanax taper was 15-1/2 months-1-June, 2019-19-September, 2020)

I am not a medical professional.

The suggestions I make are based on personal experience.

Hi, @Giulietta,

we haven't heard from You for a long time, if it isn't too much of a hassle, please let us know how are You doing :)

Wishing You a lifelong window!

V.

Duloxetine 2016/17 - 30/60mg/30mg, c/t, light WD.

Sertraline June 2019 50mg ADR

Clorazepate June 2019 20-15-10mg for 3 weeks then sparsely until 2022, 2 times per month max and very low dose (5mg)

Clorazepate Jan2022 10mg 5 days 2,5mg 2 days then off

Venlafaxine June 2019 75mg ADR, 17,5mg, titrated to 37,5mg

Venlafaxine Jan 2022 Covid, hard ADR on 37,5mg, reduced to 20mg ADR, tried ct, crash,

Venlafaxine 22Jan22 reinstated 9,4mg, too low/ 01Feb22- 12mg/ 12Feb- 11,25mg/ 16Feb- 11mg/ 20Feb- 10,8mg/ 24Feb22-10,575mg/ 16Mar22- 10,46mg/ 26Mar22- 10,35mg/ 26Apr22- 10mg/ 01Oct- 9,9mg/ 13Nov- 9,7mg

01Jan24-7,5mg

MAR24

Due to another sudden intolerance had to fast taper venlafaxine to 1,14mg

Seems like all of this time I was in benzo withdrawal, because when I took it now in desperation to help it made me feel worse, tried reinstatement first 1mg, then 0,05mg both made me feel worse.
