I only took 50mg of Sertraline for 3 days, when I developed tinnitus. I stopped the sertraline, and still have tinnitus. For the first 2 weeks, the tinnitus was constant and very loud. I found it very hard to cope. I am into week 5 now, and the tinnitus is slowly lessening. I hope it clears, it is very distracting. The weird thing is, that I took Sertraline before, and suffered the usual brain zaps and fatigue. But nothing like this. I work in a pharmaceutical, and they are cutting costs, and ordering raw materials from cheaper countries, and the quality is not as good.

Sertraline 50mg  May 2020 3 days, got severe tinnitus, then quit. Tinnitus ongoing 30 days later.

Sertraline 50mg Oct 2019 2 weeks, piling on weight, then quit.

Cipramil 2002 - 2008, OK on them, decided to stop myself. Went a bit loopy. Did some regrettable things.

Welcome to SA, Lncrl.

It sounds like you had an adverse reaction to the Sertraline, and it's good that you stopped it.   It's a very encouraging sign that the tinnitus is lessening, and symptoms of adverse reactions do fade with time.

Regarding your reaction this time as opposed to the previous time you were on Sertraline, our system become more sensitize every time we make a big drug change and that may account for the different reaction this time.  Or, as you note, perhaps quality is poorer.

Do you have any symptoms other than tinnitus?

This is your Introduction topic, where you can ask questions and connect with other members.  We're glad you found your way here.

Thanks for your encouragement Grindley. The tinnitus is back as bad as ever. It is driving me delirious. I am in bed crying here. I don't know how I will concentrate in work. 31 days of tinnitus now. No other side effects.

I am even more depressed now. If I know the tinnitus will eventually go, I am OK. But I have read some reports where it never stopped.

Has anyone else gotten tinnitus from Sertraline? Has is stopped or remained?

Our experience has been that WD symptoms like tinnitus fade with time.  My tinnitus was much worse 2-3 years ago in WD and is not even a factor now in my life.

@Lncrl

Hi there,

Tinnitus is one of my symptoms as well. I've had it now for 8 months or so and I can tell you for sure, that it will get better. Don't get me wrong, it still likes to rear it's ugly head up some days, but most days now it hardly even bothers me anymore. When it first started it was super loud and like you it would keep me up at night and was such mental torture. But now, its mostly quiet and very low volume most days. I've even had moments where it seemed to go away for 10-15 minutes so I know that it will eventually go away. I remember 6 months ago I would go in my bathroom, turn on the heater fan, turn on all the faucets and lay on the floor and cry. That's how bad it was for me, but it does get better!!! Just take things one day at a time and keep pushing forward!!! One minute at a time even if needed!!

2010-2011 - Tramadol - Can't remember dosage

2011 - CT Quit Tramadol

2011-2019 - St Johns Wart - Started out at 3 Pills a day (300 MG) and increased to 6 per day over the years

August 2019 - CT Quit St Johns (Told by Hospital Dr to Stop Taking due to increased BP)

September 2019 - Citalopram 10mg - Approx 2 weeks - CT Quit

September 2019 - October 2019 - Clonazepam .5mg - Approx 3 weeks - CT Quit

Drug Free Since October 5th 2019
