Jennings
He’s doing really well but is unhappy and confused his father doesn’t seem to be the same person since withdrawal. Of course the cold weather is lifting here in NY and he’s almost 13 so I feel he will be hanging out with friends more over the next few months. He really is a happy and kind kid. Med History - 2014 - 2020 - Zoloft, Effexor, Klonopin, Lexapro, Buspar (No longer on any of these) Went to my doctor for an annual and mentioned I was stressed, gave me Zoloft, stopped it after 3 months because it didn't do anything, ended up in withdrawal and was told I had a mental illness. I've been diagnosed Bipolar and Clinically Depressed. Current Med Taper Lamotrigine - 25mg (May 21') -> 24mg (May 23') -> 23mg (July 23') -> 22mg (Aug 23') -> 21mg (Oct 23') -> 20mg (Dec 23') Supplement: Magnesium, Fish Oil Link to comment

Moderator hayduke Posted March 12, 2021 Moderator Share Posted March 12, 2021 Hey Emily, I'm guessing you're a bit shell shocked by your child's diagnosis. I'd like to add to the thoughts here that while it's an upset now, it doesn't mean anyone's going to have a bad or unhappy life. I have various friends on the spectrum, or with kids on the spectrum, and neurodiversity is evidently just part of the evolutionary process. Many are brilliant, many are empathetic, and make good friends. It's not necessarily a problem. My sense is that in the same way many parents are faced with trans or genderfluid kids, it's only as much of a problem as you make it, in many ways. I think Western society's casting of certain groups as 'other' is more of a problem. Anyways, there'll be some good reading out there. But yeah as to yourself, how about some self care? Call in sick. Take a long bath with epsom salts. Phone a friend. Drive into nature and sit by the lake or walk in the trees. Go to yoga or meditate. Or just lie in bed, read and listen to tunes. Eating a bunch of hemp protein powder I find works well, most ppl here seem to prefer fish oil. I think Jan Carol suggested niacin as grounding too, I don't take it much but woo-eee, it does work. Emily02
Hi hayduke! Thanks very much for your reply. I always thought that he is different and now we have a diagnosis. We love him no matter what. He’s a lovely little boy with a big smile. I don’t mind that’s he is different just feeling insecure about his future. I’m sure he will improve to some extent but will he have an independent life? So much uncertainty about his future now. So yes , I know that his diagnosis stirred me up but today I was really unable to function. Felt really lost unable to concentrate and to do tasks. It was really scary. It feels that mentally I’m going down. Is Olanzapine harming my brain? Is it causing brain damage to me? Im so afraid. Will I ever recover or will I break down for good? 2019 Nov-2020 January 5mg Olanzapine 2020 January-2020 March 2,5 mg Olanzapine 2020 March- 2020 August 5mg Olanzapine 2020 August-2020 Sept 2,5 mg Olanzapine 2020 September-2020 November 5mg Olanzapine started 10% reduction 2021 March 3,5 mg Olanzapine 2021 April 2,5 mg Olanzapine Link to comment

I split them in half by hand, to get past the coating, before dropping them into the 25ml filtered water in a small brown glass bottle. Put the lid on, quick shake, in the fridge and come back in half an hour. It should be all just spicks and specks then, I give it a good hard shake for a bit, then agitate a bit before drawing out the dose with a pipette. Then down the hatch with that, and bottle goes back in the fridge. Emily02
Hi Nicjk! I usually do 10% a month. It’s ok so far, but they say 5% every two weeks is safer. I think it’s because of the medication. So sorry to hear about your struggles with this nasty drug. I also struggle with a low mood because of Olanzapine! It effects our dopamine levels. I can only start tapering Olanzapine once I have finished my valium taper in July - I am really struggling with the side effects of Olanzapine and it makes me feel worse that I have to wait a while before I begin my taper.
