Craig90 Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 Hi All sertraline (Zoloft) 50mg for almost 4 years and with a lot of work on myself I'm attempting to discontinue. It's day 3 currently. Some intermittent dizzy spells. But mentally I feel pretty good. Really glad to have found peer support and happy to offer some as well.
Moderator Emeritus ChessieCat Posted October 31, 2022 Moderator Emeritus Posted October 31, 2022 Hi Craig90 and welcome to SA, What you are experiencing are withdrawal symptoms. The only known way to reduce these is to take a small dose of the sertraline. After stabilising you can then taper by the no more than 10% with at least a 4 week hold. Dr Joseph Glenmullen's WD Symptoms Checklist Withdrawal symptoms might take a long time to resolve. This is because the brain has adapted to getting the drug and when it is taken away too quickly the brain had a lot of changes to make. Please see Post #1 of this topic: About reinstating and stabilizing to reduce withdrawal symptoms Please provide the dates and doses when you reduced so that we can suggest a dose to take. Craig90 Posted November 5, 2022 Author Posted November 5, 2022 Hi thanks very much for the info! I got about 7 days clear and felt super dizzy. It would be difficult to do that for the "2 weeks" that the out dated evidence suggests it could take to resolve. I'm going to ask my Dr. to prescribe the liquid for better control.of the taper. Thanks all ❤️
