Laura999: six days of venlafaxine

Hello. My GP put me on venlafaxine for very mild depression and neuropathy one week ago. It has helped my neuropathy, but always nauseated, shaking, and tired, not sleeping, but tired. I want to get off it. Do you suppose I will experience the same withdrawls those listed above only being on it for 6 nights? 150 mg hcl er. I'm thinking of splitting a capsule tonight just in case, I do not want to have brain zaps and all the other things listed above. It is horrible that they don't put that info in the Rx information. Thanks for sharing.

Post moved.

You probably will be okay tapering down very quickly, perhaps a third to half your dose at a time.

Psychotropic drug history: Pristiq 50 mg. (mid-September 2010 through February 2011), Remeron (mid-September 2010 through January 2011), Lexapro 10 mg. (mid-February 2011 through mid-December 2011), Lorazepam (Ativan) 1 mg. as needed mid-September 2010 through early March 2012

Wow up to 150mg in one week? I started with 25mg then 50, then 75, then 150. It took a month to get to

150. On it for 6 weeks, anxiety shot straight up, and decided this wasn't for me. I cut my dose in half and was bedridden for months.

Please taper down cautiously.

Let people here help. Even though you have only had it for a week your doctor did not start it up slowly. Start taking fish oils to

Prevent the zaps.

You say you were put on this drug for mild depression, look for other methods of helping yourself get through that. I made the. Mistake of taking these drugs thinking it would be a fast cure. I'll tell you what I told my doctor, "I'm worse now than before I walked into your office.". Enough said.

Welcome, laura.

I agree with Jemima, you can go off very quickly.

Since you've had this bad reaction, if I were you I'd avoid antidepressants of any type. It sounds like they're too activating for you.
