Feloniousgrammar: introduction: bipolar 2?

Recommended Posts

Hi. I'm feloniousgramma, a.k.a wiley. I've been struggling with the bipolar 2 label since 1992 and am wondering about other people's experience with an antidepressant induced hypomanic episode and feelings and thoughts about the bipolar 2 diagnosis.

Hi Wiley, you are in the right place here, I diagnosed bi-polar after drug induced mania.,

I was in and out of hospital and put on one drug after another, ADs benzos anti psychotics

and the rest. There are many of us with the label bipolar. It was 1994 when I was diagnosed.

I was on and off different meds because of side effects, throwing me into withdrawal

which was always treated as an 'episode' . Sectioned sometimes and given ECT.

I have to add though that the ECT was with my consent and not forced. I was absolutely

desperate and would have done ANYTHING for relief. Little did I know then that it was

probably withdrawal I was suffering.

My last psych drug was effexor which I've been on for 11 years. The early days I was

hypomanic and thought it was a wonderful drug, I was on top of the world and capable of anything!

That was followed by a state of being  nothing, no feeling, no love or hate, no self respect, no desires,

nothing, that lasted for years until I decided enough was enough and started to taper.

**I am not a medical professional, if in doubt please consult a doctor with withdrawal knowledge.

Lesson learned, slow down taper at lower doses. Taper no more than 10% of CURRENT dose if possible
