Alex, I'll marry you. Are you rich? If you suffer from PGAD, all the better. Not much interested in having sex. My pubes would probably fall out, but that would save me time in the shower and money on shaving cream. I love you.

Could SOMEONE please encourage me and tell me I'm not doomed for years and years of protracted WD because I CT'd 700mg of gabapentin? I understand my ride is rougher because of it, but please tell me the duration of WD won't be longer than those who taper. PLEASE!!!!

January 2012 - Prescribed 900mg gabapentin and 30mg Norco for lower lumber spinal stenosis pain.

September 2013 - Spinal fusion surgery, 6 levels. Hospital ramped up meds 1500mg gabapentin, 100mg Norco, 80mg Oxycontin, 25mg Fentanyl patch.

January 2014 - Sever nausea daily and with back pain every 4 hours. 2 trips to ER. First endoscopy found ulcer. Treated with Sucralfate and PPI. Second endo in May found no ulcers. Doctors said it was the opiates causing the nausea. CT'd Oxycontin, Fentanyl patch.

July 2014 - Lost 48 lbs. due to not eating because of severe nausea. GP prescribed Prozac 20mg and Ativan 2mg prn. Tried for 4 days, quit. Two week followup GP said keep taking Prozac. 4 days, quit again. Ativan taken rarely prn for anxiety and appetite.

August 2014 - Went to detox. Off opiates. Still nauseous, helmet head, drugged feeling. Doctor CT'd gabapentin. Ended up in ER. Found 2 gallstones. Gabapentin reinstated at 900mg. Tried botched up and down taper to get off Gabapentin. No tapering advice from doctor. Said to just CT again.

September 2014 - Coded on table during gallbladder surgery. Developed liver biloma due to CPR by doctor. Had bile bulb inserted for 2 wks to drain.

October 2014 - Gallbladder removed. Still nauseous, 3am cortisol surging, drugged helmet head, vertigo, breathlessness, whooshing head, heart palps.

November 8th, 2014 - CT'd gabapentin suggested by family and 4 different doctors. Was told no withdrawal is associated with gabapentin. Have been in hell ever since. No windows, just one big tsunami every day with same symptoms for 4 months.

December 26, 2014 - Found SA. At least I know I'm not insane. My family thinks I'm doing this to myself. Akathesia has become unbearable.

March 10, 2015 - In absolute daily hell with no relief. Currently taking magnesium 200mg before bedtime.

Some people's posts, and Alto, scare the sh*t out of me. I just want to be told I have a shot at being healed like everyone else.

Yeah this sh*t has to stop for us CT people. We have zero hope because everyone says we are doomed to suffer this hell for years. I don't know if people realize that even though you're trying to encourage someone on their thread, the whole lot of us still read it and it can be detrimental to us that are in a different situation. We are strong pug and we've already made it through the months that SA says are the worst. You are healing, I promise!!!

Hey Pug,

Sending you a big hug!

Everything I read, here on SA, generally on the web and also here says everybody will heal.

That includes you. You will heal. It may take some more time. But this can't take forever. The brain will heal itself eventually. I saw a success thread from someone who said he had to learn how to eat, walk and drive again. He eventually made it. You will too!!!!

I wish you healing,

Laura

Feb 2015 Took venlafaxine for 5 days only... experienced withdrawal that made me completely non-functional

Mar 2015 took under 1mg of Sertraline for 10 days in an attempt to combat Venlafaxine withdrawal. Got adverse reactions.

After stopping Sertraline, withdrawal got much worse. New, horrific symptoms.

June 2015 Still non-functional but slowly getting better. Still brain zaps, migraines, sweating, heart racing, depression, crying spells

September 2015: 24/7 brain zaps, twitches in the face, no concentration, bad memory, language skills deteriorating.

(((Pug))) The past few days have been brutal for me, but all-in-all, I do feel like I am healing. My pattern (or lack of one) seems kinda weird, but I do not feel we are doomed because of CT. (Or in my case, practically CT... I don't think a 6-week taper is much different.) I keep hoping I will soon see a pattern that is much more recognisable as being one of recovery, and I am sure you will too. Hang in there!!

Zoloft 100 mg. daily for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome since Oct. 1994 / Synthroid 88 mcg. daily / Supplements: Neptune Krill Oil-1,000 mg. twice daily/Astaxanthin 10 mg. twice daily/Ubiquinol 100 mg. twice daily (These 3 have allowed me to discontinue (approved by doctor) bp meds I was on. Calcium Citrate 500 mg. daily/Vitamin D3 2,400 iu daily/K2 (MK7) 100 mcg daily (osteopenia and fam. hist. of severe osteoporosis). Stress B Complex (1/2 dose)/Quercetin (for allergies/asthma)/Magnesium (400 mg. oral glycinate and about 50 mg. magnesium chloride spray oil a day, divided throughout day).

Tapered Zoloft about 6 wks. Totally off since the end of July (25-29, 2014). 3 wks. vertigo at end of taper, then 3-4 wks. OK, followed by withdrawal symptoms increasing in severity (nausea, gastric disturbances, loss of appetite, insomnia, restlessness, jitters, anxiety, agitation--jumping out of my skin--possible akathisia?) Seem to have paradoxical reactions to everything new, even Vitamin C. Severity of akathisia comes and goes, but is constant to some degree. Hard to leave house, and cannot be home alone. (Retired)

CT or taper, you will heal.

I suffer from depression, anxiety, pure-o ocd, and panic attacks since 2004. Been on multiple different psychiatric drugs since 2006. Never had a significant WD problem before, only brain zaps for a month and then I'd be fine...............Been on Cipralex (escitalopram) 15 mg and Fluanxol (flupentixol) 1 mg since Sep 2014. Stopped taking the Cipralex after a fast 20-day taper.Took the last 5 mg Cipralex on Feb 5th, 2015. Then took Seroxat (paroxetine) 10 mg for a week, and stopped it too. Severe WD started suddenly on Feb 16th. RI 5 mg Cipralex on Feb 18th, 2015. RI worked and was relatively stable for a while................April 7 - decreased Fluanxol from 1 mg to 0.5 mg and took it at this dose for a week. - BIG MISTAKE; April 13 - WD starts creeping in; April 14 - RI full dose of Fluanxol 1 mg => severe muscle twitching and jerking when trying to relax and fall asleep, overwhelming sense of doom, dread, terror, and horror, insomnia, hoping to stabilize.
Tried doing a 10% cut off Fluanxol in the end of May for a few days, but quickly updosed to full dose because the twitching returned.
Experiencing waves and windows in the following months.
Unsuccessful brief taper attempt of Fluanxol by 5% on November 1st. Symptoms hit the next day. Too scared to continue tapering, reinstate full dose.
Severe crash in November after stupidly trying a barbiturate on November 9th. Grave mistake. Sense of unshakable inescapable internal torture, like my soul is in hell being tortured, terror/horror/dread/doom (probably akathisia?) that gets especially bad when trying to relax and fall asleep, muscles twitch, jerk and move on their own, shaking, insomnia, can't eat, confusion, disorientation, brain not working normally. Never felt so bad in my entire life. Never experiment with other meds while in WD! Praying to God I stabilize and get back to my baseline.

It makes sense that CT should be more difficult and intense than tapering, but I think it all depends on the individual. Some people recover more quickly, others more slowly regardless of the method they chose to come off the meds. There's nothing that can be done about it. All we can do is wait and take care of ourselves as best as we can. What comment did you read Pug that upset you? Whatever you read, the most important thing is your own personal situation. Are you seeing improvements, no matter how small? Are you still getting your evening windows?

You're most welcome.

December 2008 Prescribed 20mg citalopram (celexa) for depression and OCD.July 2013 stopped taking citalopram (celexa). November 2013 reinstated citalopram (celexa) following replapse at 20mg for 4 weeks, 40mg for 4 weeks and tapered off over 4 weeks as my condition had deteriorated. February 2014 started 20mg of fluoxetine (prozac). Didn't tolerate it and stopped 4 weeks later, experienced no withdrawal. May 2014 started 25mg of sertraline (zoloft), increased to 50mg after 1 week. Remained at 50mg for 4 weeks before increasing to 100mg at the request of my psychiatrist despite advising of suicidal ideation for an additional week before stopping. Advised to drop to 50mg for 3 days before withdrawing altogether. I did as advised and horrendous withdrawal ensued. 11th August 2014 commenced escitalopram (lexapro), weaned off end of October 2014. Commenced Clonazepam December 2014 0.5mg twice daily, switched to Diazepam 10mg twice daily with a view to tapering of the benzodiazepine altogether. Tapering schedule presently at a reduction of 1mg of Diazepam every 1-2 weeks depending upon side effects. So far experienced no severe physical side effects except worsening of PGAD symptoms upon reduction which does seem to improve within a few days of doing so. Presently taking no antidepressants however still experiencing mild agitation, severe depression and PGAD which is currently being treated by a physiotherapist.

Funny how we're so good at supporting others but incapable of taking that advice and applying that positive outlook to our own recovery.

Funny that eh? Not really though.

Hi BB. It was a comment made on your thread, actually, by someone who has been tapering for years.

I still get my evening windows. The time varies a little. The symptoms I had when I was taking gabapentin have all vanished. I'm left with 3am cortisol surging, racing heart palpitations and high anxiety that lasts all day and began when I CT'd. It's horrible. Can't handle any stimulus at all, good or bad. Agoraphobic. Akathisia is mild version now.

I know how you feel dear, that's exactly how I've felt when my anxiety disorder has been aggravated. Try progressive muscle relaxation. It does help, especially with early morning anxiety.

I did it!! and if I did, you will too.

Keep going Judy,it gets better, even if we don`t believe it.

BTW, regarding to your question if I am rich, I was going to ask you exactly the same question... :D :D

Hahaaa, Alex. Thanks for your encouraging words, as always.

Depression over all this has hit me deeply, after suffering through an elevated level of anxiety all day. I pray and pray it won't last for years. Every single day the same relentless illness of withdrawal grabbing me around the throat and shaking me in its mouth like a rag doll.

Unlike you, Alex, I don't have it in me to suffer like this for years. I just don't. I'm seven months out and I'm beaten to a pulp. I just want God to be merciful and stop my heart from beating.

This is a dreary post. I apologize to all who read it. I have nothing left. Nothing.

I love you all. The suffering I read about on all your threads brings me to my knees. I have been crying for hours.

I have also read hopeful threads of those who are recovering. It's hard to focus on those in the midst of such pain and misery happening to such beautiful people.

I wish I felt better, so I could be more encouraging and positive. Maybe someday.

I just want you all to know I read your threads every day, even though I don't post much. I pray for us always. I'm hanging onto the toilet bowl too.

My back pain takes my breath away. Haven't had back pain in 6 months. Hope I didn't do something to my spinal fusion.

Lord God help us please.

I know we're going to heal, everybody. God talks to us all the time if we sit quietly and listen or read or walk in silence. His voice is there. Please listen for it. Our suffering will be over soon.

So sad tonight. I feel everyone's pain. I wish I could take it all away. I'm making no sense, I know. Just one big ball of negative emotions. Jesus, my pillow is soaked with tears. At least I hope it's tears. Ugh.

Praying, Pug. Hang in there!

(Retired)

Spring of 1998 place on birth control pills for irregular bleeding, high testosterone and one ovarian cyst, stayed on until April 2004, told to take hormone holiday, conceived first son 4 months later-VERY BIG SUPRISE, was told wouldn't be able to have childern or would need reproductive doctor to help. Got pregnant again 2006 with second son easily, then was on/off birthcontrol again until October 2011, concieved 3rd son in October 2011(tried many times to get pregant again when 2nd child was close to 2yrs, hormone problems started again after 2nd child, along with thyroid enlargement.

Spring of 2001 celexa 10 mgs-rx'd by pcp for complaints of chronic fatigue, irritability and weight gain, stayed on until June 2005, switched to Lexapro 20mgs for PPD, stayed on Lexapro 6-7 months, couldn't afford to see psyh dr. and Lexapro, saw PCP switched back to 20mgs celexa in 2007, remained on until November 2011, was c/t off due to 3rd pregnancy, baby had umbilical cord defect, seemed ok during pregnancy, except for crying jags here and there. Our miracle baby was born July 20th 2012, healthy except with reflux. One month later the anxiety, restlessness, horrible crying, insomnia and the deepest depression ever. That started the psyh drug nightmare-benzo's,antidepressants, sleeping pills, mood stablizers. Nothing help made me worse, doctors just kept changing the meds frequently. 4 mental health hospitalizations, rapid detox off benzos Jan 2013, horrible withdrawal and still suffering withdrawal symptoms NO ONE BELIEVES ME, I feel like ive been on one consistant drug withdrawal for the past 2 years

January 2014 slow titrate up of lexapro to 20 mgs-horrible side effects!!, was just rapidly taper by current pysh off to pursade me to try an MAOI-no way!!! Was told should consider ECT

Yes GOD!!! Please do.
