Hi Beautybabe,

Have you noticed a pattern with tappering off Mirtazapine?

DRUG HISTORY:

November 2013- Zoloft, ( Bad reaction).

January 2014 - March 2014 Seroquel.( Quit Cold Turkey).

January2014- Mirtazapine, I was taking 15mg at one stage, reduced to 7.5mg, Pgad reactions to Mirtazapine. Doctor kept increasing it to 37.5mg, until July 2014. No improvement, experiencing panic attacks, on 37.5 mg. I had enough by October 2014. Began tapering.

October 2014- Started tapering Mirtazapine from 37.5mg.

September 2015- Down to 4mg of Mirtazapine. Crashed.

September 16th- Up dosed to 5mg. Held this dose for almost 5 months. Stabilised.

February 2016- Began tapering again. From 5mg to 4.5mg of Mirtazapine. (Rocking the boat, again)! Lol. :(

Hey bb

Good decision to hold till after your holiday. It doesn't hurt to hold for longer periods at different points in your taper

Can I ask you to update your signature when you get a chance

I offer an opinion based on my own experiences, reading and discussion with others. On Effexor for 2 months at the start of 2005. Had extreme insomnia as an adverse reaction. Changed to mirtazapine. Have been trying to get off since mid 2008 with numerous failures including CTs and slow (but not slow enough tapers)Have slow tapered at 10 per cent or less for years. I have liquid mirtazapine made at a compounding chemist.

Was on 1.6 ml as at 19 March 2014.

Dropped to 1.5 ml 7 June 2014. Dropped to 1.4 in about September.

Dropped to 1.3 on 20 December 2014. Dropped to 1.2 in mid Jan 2015.

Dropped to 1 ml in late Feb 2015. I think my old medication had run out of puff so I tried 1ml when I got the new stuff and it seems to be going ok. Sleep has been good over the last week (as of 13/3/15).

Dropped to 1/2 ml 14/11/15 Fatigue still there as are memory and cognition problems. Sleep is patchy but liveable compared to what it has been in the past.

Hi all, had fab holiday just what I needed but got a quick question. As I mentioned I stayed on 9.5 dose for just over 6 wks, is it possible to have 2 withdrawal periods in this time?

Hi not sure if I'm posting in right place? Quick question. I've been on 8.5 mirt for nearly 4 wks but am feeling really down. Don't know whether it's due to not having a job and coming back off holiday or withdrawal or both. Well question is would you hold for a while longer or carrying with a cut? Thanks.

Hi BB,

I don't think it would hurt to hold. I would also up your self soothing strategies - get some sun, excercise, good food, avoid negativity and sadness, spend time doing stuff that brings you Joy

Hi all, hope everyone is doing ok. Quick question, I'm now on 5.4mg mirt and was going to cut tonight to 5mg but instead got distracted(kids!) and I've either 7 or 8mg! Have I totally messed it up or just go back to 5.4 tomorrow? Gutted I've done this. Just hope it will be OK. Not sure if I'm over thinking haha.

hey BB,

with a single dose mess-up, you should be able to resume w/out much, if any, issue at all. i made several mistakes of this nature in the course of cutting the mirt. and while the discovery of the error feels like the loop-de-loop on a roller-coaster (that anxious tummy flutter), the withdrawal implications for a one time screw-up like this tends to be nothing at all.

i'd proceed w/ your scheduled cut as planned if you're feeling in the zone to do it - or go back to 5.4mg tomorrow if you're more comfortable doing so.

hang in there,

Hi all, hope everyone is doing ok as haven't been on here for a while! Quick question - I'm not coming down quite 10% a month found even the few days of withdrawel too much, so for example this month I'm on 2.6 mg next month with 10% drop would be 2.34 so instead of rounding up to 2.35 I round up to 2.4. Am I cheating should I push through a bit lower and manage withdrawals? Also if I'm feeling ok do you think I could lower it once every 3 weeks instead of 4? Sorry if this sounds daft, probably overthinking! x

When you've had an uncomfortable reaction to a 10% decrease, it's a really good idea to make the next decrease less than 10%.  Good thinking!
