InvisibleUnless Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 thats interesting; the trailer was almost a miniature feature in itself. i can relate, and some people here are versed in shamanic theories of western mental disorder and such. the dude cold turkeyed his 4 year stint on tons of crazy medication cocktails, its no wonder he started having severe psychotic symptoms. i spent 1-2 years tapering off all my meds and i still got hit hard with that. from 2005-2012, i spent 7 years taking 17 different psychotropic medications covering several classes. i would be taking 3-7 medications at a time, and 6 out of the 17 medications listed below were maxed or overmaxed in clinical dosage before i moved on to trying the next unhelpful cocktail. antidepressants (SSRIs, SNRIs, NDRIs, tetracyclics): zoloft, wellbutrin, effexor, lexapro, prozac, cymbalta, remeronantipsychotics (atypical): abilify, zyprexa, risperdal, geodonsleep aids (benzos, off-label antidepressants & antipsychotics, hypnotics): seroquel, temazepam, trazodone, ambienanxiolytics: busparanticonvulsants: topamax i tapered off all psychotropics from late 2011 through early 2013, one by one. since quitting, ive been cycling through severe, disabling withdrawal symptoms spanning the gamut of the serious, less serious, and rather worrisome side effects of these assorted medications. previous cross-tapering and medication or dosage changes had also caused undiagnosed withdrawal symptoms. brainpan addlepation
Nomoreheadmeds Posted August 21, 2015 Author Posted August 21, 2015 Yes headmed docs think they can put out a fire by pouring petrol on it.Just looking at your history there , thats some cocktail. Peace Sertraline 100mg amytrip 60mg diazepam 4mg (and when needed) since late 90's.Reduced all meds over 6 wks (too short) last doses 13 wks ago.Still having withdrawals.I would have done it differently 5th august 2015 reinstated 5mg amytripiline.increased to 10mg amtrip 9th sept 2015.
Moderator Emeritus manymoretodays Posted August 22, 2015 Moderator Emeritus Posted August 22, 2015 The main take home I got was how valuable communities like this can be.....acceptance communities.......just the nature of total acceptance and all that........so healing. I can vaguely fit in once in awhile now with real people I think. In real structured settings..........which is kind of weird versus unstructured settings. And talk to strangers pretty well. For awhile I got into that healer aspect of healing.......maybe still am a little bit. It gave me hope though and patience. Late 2023- gone to emeritus status, inactive, don't @ me, I can check who I've posted on, and I'm not really here like I used to be......thanks. Started with psycho meds/psychiatric care circa 1988. In retrospect, and on contemplation, situational overwhelm. Rounding up to 30 years of medications(30 medication trials, poly-pharmacy maximum was 3 at one time). 5/28/2015-off Adderal salts 2.5mg. (I had been on that since hospital 10/2014) 12/2015---just holding, holding, holding, with trileptal/oxcarb at 75 mg. 1/2 tab at hs. My last psycho med ever! Tapered @ 10% every 4 weeks, sometimes 2 weeks to 2016 Dec 16, medication free!! Longer signature post here, with current supplements. Herb and alcohol free since 5/15/2016. And.....I quit smoking 11/2021. Lapsed. Redo of quit smoking 9/28/2022, and again finally 5/25/24. Can you say Hallelujah?(took me long enough)💜 None of my posts are intended as medical advice.
