LexFree Posted October 12, 2016 Author Share Posted October 12, 2016 Thank you FSL. Are you tapering Lex as well? I am planning to hold at 1mg for about three more weeks then will drop to .5 mg. I read somewhere when down to .5 mg, the person alternated every other day for several weeks then stopped completely. I am thinking doing the same. Have any thoughts on this? But I will stay strong, for me and everyone here. i would rather stay steady taking daily doses not alternating. 0.5 mg is 50% cut, it's safer to start by 0.2 mg each step just to test the water. Holding longer at very low dose like even 0.2/0.3 mg would prevent the potential protected WD. I may be over cautious but giving this worst beast, you really want to make sure you will never need to deal with it again. Just my two cents. Been at this dose for little over a week. Doinf pretty good. Sleeping well, appetite is good and have many moments feeling like my self. Once I get up and get going, my mood improves tremendously. I've noticed in the past week that my brain is getting clearer. The hissing noise is still happening, I think it's the residual from stopping the benzo. I am hopeful it will go away completely with time. Sounds like you are doing fairly well with your tapering. It is said anytime over three months is considered long term. But then it depends on the body's system. This is my third try coming off an AD. I so pray to be successful. How are you doing and where are you with your dose? Hello Alto, I have been on .06 little over a week. Doing really good so far. I plan to stay at this dose till Sunday and then drop to .04. So tempted to jump off but going to stay with it till down to .02. If all is still good then, I will jump. I will let you know when I do. I wish everyone well through this process. To make it easier, let's say lexapro half life is 24 hours, then 50% of it will be metablized at 24 hour mark ( how half life is defined), then 25% more will be metablized by 48 hour mark then 12.5% more, 6.25% more, 3.125% more and so on, so by 7th day, about 0.8% left. As the actual half life is 27-32 hours, you will end up with something like 3% Regardless, the half life may not be as important as we think in terms of withdrawl onset, depending how sensitive ones system and each individual. Many react immediately in hours. I am having some challenges of grasping the formula, maybe I am thinking too hard. I think I am trying to understand when it is completely out of the system. If about 3% remains in the system at seven days, I suppose I can expect the remainder to be completely out of system within nine days of stoppage? If this is a somewhat an accurate formula, I am guessing to be on the lookout for possible WD symptoms after it is completely out of my system. At the rate I am going, I should be completely med free by year end. Not planning to completely stop till after the holidays. Thank you, again, LexAnger. LexAnger Posted November 12, 2016 Share Posted November 12, 2016 I see, giving that you don't get WD symptoms with dose reduction, if they only appear at the time all lex is gone in your system, then it' will be around 10 th day, 0.0469% of 0.6 mg assuming you stop at 0.6mg, so it will be less than 0.0025 mg. Most ppl get a grace period feeling rather well before the WD surface at the zero point ( if it ever happens) Some got very long grace period like several months. Are you still symptoms free? I have huge hope your last step is just fine. Each day we make it, we are one day closer to healing. You will get there like many. I am holding between two and three weeks before reducing. As I have read, if no symptoms, can reduce at earlier intervals. When I am down to 0.2, am going to alternate days for couple of weeks then complete jump off. I hope this will work for me. Doing well with no new symptoms. I initially planned on stopping at end of this month but when I got down to .2 mg, the amount in the syringe was so maniscual that I wasn't getting much into my system. I am sleeping and eating well. Drug reaction symptoms are mostly in check since 1mg, now I'm at 0.9 mg, still some symptoms but can live with them, they are much milder too. So hopeful to a full recovery in 2027. Life is good, been very busy with work. Overall I am doing great. The only symptom that seems to linger is the burning when waking up in the morning. This is a residual from the benzo. Once I am up and about, I am fine. I am thinking it may take couple of more months before it all goes away, I hope. I have to say, it's liberating not having to take anymore meds, to be med free is a good feeling of freedom. I will never again trust a doctor to prescribe another med unless it is a life threatening condition. In fact, I've not been back to my doctor since October. At my last visit, I asked if the diagnose of anxiety disorder can be removed as I was going through severe med withdrawal, benzo and AD. The reply was that is what was diagnosed at that time and besides, I've worked through the anxiety. I responded how could i worked through such severe condition in less than a year and no ER visits at all. I got a blank look. This tells me doctors have no clue of how they diagnoses or what they are prescribing. In any event, I am feeling very well. Feels good to be claiming my life back. I can imagine how wonderful to live drug free, especially after years prison by these poisons! I'm truly happy for you! We all learned our lesson, the heard and ugly way about the sad situation about the doctors. Now you have your health back, just ignore them and don't even need to say goodbye. My situation turned suddenly just a week ago. I was at 0.9mg then suddenly couldn't take the drug, each drop knock me off completely in a semi coma status with severe blurry vision. so I started super fast cut getting down to 0.5mg in just a week ( cutting 10-15% everyday) With each cut, I felt a bit better until today I felt quite ok overall. It seems my body reached the zero tolerance to this med. funny thing is, I don't even have much WD symptoms (except for the normal stuff, headache body tension) only got better with the drug reaction symptoms. So I am suddenly down to the tiny dose now which I thought it would take at least several months. I hope there won't be delayed WD, but I don't have other options but drop to just keep living. On the other hand, it may turn out to be a good thing, that the quick dose reduction only makes me better. So it seems won't be too long before I reach the finish line too. I hope and believe you will continue doing fine and getting better and better! It will help me and everyone else here if you can update periodically so we know you are doing great and that gives all great hope and encouragement. I did use many SSRIs and even Venlafaxin (2 years) because i just want an antidepressant that treat social anxity without weight gain issue. Last medicine for me is escitalopram 5mg. I tried to withdraw it quickly but i got WD symtoms. I reinstated 0,3 mg whith acceptable effect. I'm trying to get of this tiny dose but i get WDsymtoms. Has anyone advise about this condition? I have GAD Sertralin 100mg 2010-2013 Venlafaxin 75mg 2013-2015 Escitalopram 5mg 2015-2018 Now weaning off escitalopram with gradually since 3 months. Current dose 0,2 mg Link to comment
