Raye: having a hard time withdrawing from an SSRI. Second time on it

Recommended Posts

hello,

just am seeking some advice..

I think I may have been wrong about the pharmacy..  I have been in withdrawal for about a month without knowing the cause.. I thought it was something todo with the compound pharmacy but I'm thinking it could be something else (possibly this cherry powder I had every day) that was interacting with my medicine. I have gone back up to my normal dose of 218 mg and still feel strong withdrawal..  I am thinking of going up more because this withdrawal is so tiring on my body but I feel bad doing it because i already worked so hard to withdrawal to where I am now.

I was thinking of trying the cherry powder again and seeing if that made me feel better and then weaning off of that.. I just don't see why cherry extract would make me withdrawal.. Would it be a better idea to go back up on my medicine or wait for another week for the 218mg to maybe kick in? I been on it 4 days.. Im just worried about my body because I don't know if its healthy to be in withdrawal for so long

2014-2015. Was on Luvox for about a year or more. Withdrew to fast in only 2 months but felt fine. (highest dose was 800mg which is over 2x the maximum safe dose..tapered off 50mg every week). Was also on klonopin for a few months. Do not remember the details.

It takes about 4 days for a dose change to get to full level in the blood and a bit longer for it to register in the brain.

That being the case it would probably be better to see if things improve over the next week.

Keep daily symptom notes on paper.  This can help you to be objective.

Remember to only make one change at a time.  Keep it Simple, Slow and Stable

hmm..I have been consuming a lot of goat dairy lately! maybe thats the culprit.. I'll try to remove it from my diet and see what happens

thats weird about the cherry juice.. I assume that cherry juice or cherry powder is so concentrated that the chemical that interacts with Luvox is very concentrated as well. I was taking it for the vitamin C.

ok.. so i found out the reason why I was in withdrawal so long. I had been doing the keto diet so my body was in ketosis which flushes toxins and medicines out of your system a lot faster. yikes. I didn’t realize my body was in ketosis so long until I got my blood ketones tested and they were pretty high

Hi Raye,

Glad you figured out what put you into waves. Anything that detoxes our bodies can put us into waves as you know now. Detoxing is not a good thing to do while withdrawing from medication. Hope you start to feel a bit better soon. What are you eating these days?

Take care💚

I try to eat as healthy as I can but still let myself enjoy a treat now and then. I also eat a piece of fruit at each meal to keep me out of ketosis.

I seem to be doing a bit worse with a different problem at the moment. I went into a far infrared sauna at a yoga studio a few months ago, ignorant of how detoxing they are and felt a rush of all the medicine that had been trapped in my body release.. I had no clue what was going on but realized it was detox and went completely go off my  medicine to relieve my symptoms since The overdose feeling was so strong. This lasted a while and now I am trying different doses each day as i try to find the best dose so I don’t feel as I’m in withdrawal or overdose anymore. It has been getting better since when it first started but it is very frustrating to say the least.

I wish there was a warning about these saunas but I read later about them being detoxing and people feeling past drug uses while they use the sauna, I just don't understand why mine has gone on so long. I think me having been on this medicine so many years plays a factor. Im trying to have a positive attitude but its hard because I felt like I was finally getting somewhere for once then suddenly none of that mattered. ugh

I hope everyone is doing well.

I was also wondering is it normal to really feel withdrawal by only tapering 1 mg?

198mg daily

Im at 90 mg morning    16mg mid day    and 92 night.....

i held this for a few weeks and then tapered my night does to 91 mg and it was hard but I finally pulled through after 6 days..

I hope that the tapering gets better as I become less dependent not the drug and create more gluthathione perhaps

if someone already posted about this I could not find it anywhere unfortunately

I took a dose of my SSRI at the wrong time about a month ago and I felt some w/d the next day around the same time and continuing the week. It got really bad, as usual, around the 4th day mark. It's not like horrible symptoms anymore but I do not feel good still so I assume this might be a version of protracted w/d

It has been a month so I am wondering if I should just assume regular w/d and see if it gets better in time or if I should add back in that dose at the wrong time I took it to feel better and try to withdrawal from that dose also.

I am certain this is from taking the dose at the wrong time and not anything else because it has happened before and I been on this drug for years and my body and nervous system are very messed up from it and am extremely sensitive to even the smallest fluctuation.

thanks

I merged your topic that you started in the Tapering Forum to your Intro and Updated Thread so that all your withdrawal history is in one place, and we can better help you.

I'm a little confused by your language here.  Did you skip a dose, or just take it at the wrong time?

Either way, since this happened a month ago,  it's not likely that this is the cause of your withdrawal symptoms now. If it were me, I would just continue on and as you say "assume regular w/d".  Adding an extra dose now could just destabilize you further.

It sounds like you are in a wave.  A wave can be triggered by many things, including stress, weather changes, change in diet, too much exercise, and other stuff.  Waves suck, I know.  I'm sorry you are feeling badly.

According to your signature, you have been on 198 mg since September of 2019.  Is this correct?  If not, can you please update your signature?  Thank you.

Thank you sorry for posting in the wrong place. I wasn't sure if I should post it on my page or not.

I took it at the wrong time. I usually take a dose at 4:30 PM but I took it a couple hours later and felt really bad the next day. I went back to the original time though the next day but something seemed off still. I don't feel completely normal yet. I took some zinc last night and feel better but not fully. I understand what you mean but I do think it is related to it.. just wondering are waves like bouts of depression? I have been really depressed this year honestly and feel really down unfortunately.

I am not on a fully stable dose because my body can’t really stabilize the meds in my body but usually 2 doses of 50-75 mg (morning and night) and always 16mg mid day. I am tapering off the mid day dose first since its the smallest.. the mid day dose was the I took at the wrong time

2014-2015. Was on Luvox for about a year or more. Withdrew to fast in only 2 months but felt fine. (highest dose was 800mg which is over 2x the maximum safe dose..tapered off 50mg every week). Was also on klonopin for a few months. Do not remember the details.

...
2016
(Klonopin 1 mg for a month, second time on it, in May 2016 and tapered .25mg through early aug)
(Tapered off Klonopin as i went on Luvox)

It is suggested to keep your dose exactly the same each day until you stabilize.  Our brains are quite sensitive to these drugs, and it will become confused if we give it various amounts of the drug each day. This is possibly why you are feeling badly.  If it were me, I would go with a dose that is midway between this range you are taking, and stick to that precise dose every day.  Are you having difficulty measuring the dose?  How are you measuring your dose?

Here is some more information about Luvox.

Luvox

Please read this and see if it helps.  There is a way to make it into a liquid, and this can help you measure the dose more precisely.  Good luck, and let us know if you need help.
