, my dr also told me to just stop the luvox a few weeks ago, which I did,

Recently he tried effexro for a very short time and it made me feel worse as well, so I stopped it five days ago as directed by my dr. I am only on 200mg of seroquel now and that is all i take, i been on 200mg for 3 weeks and I plan on decreasing either this week or next week after i talk with my dr.

Again, I think you need to either just go with what the doc says or ignore the doc and go with the recommendations of this site.

You CANNOT just stop taking these drugs, unless I am wrong and luvox is safe???  I have heard people people stop like that and feel better but after a few months it hits them like a tornado out of the blue!

Again, I honestly do not believe you can try anything for a very short time.  It is not like eating lolllies.  I was switched several times and go a whole lot worse too, but I know better now - it was not the new drug but the stopping suddenly of the old one that caused the problems.

I think this is made hard because you still seem to trust your doctor rather than the experience of other people who have been through the mill and gained valuable knowledge from their experience.  You have to decide who to trust.  ANd personally I would NEVER trust a doctor ever again.

You are talking about decreasing again already and made no mention of holding....  are you feeling wonderful, strong and together?

The dr yelled at me saying that if I try and decrease the medication to go off it he will not treat me anymore,

and unless I am going to switch seroquel to another anti psychotic, he will not tell me how to safely come off of seroquel and will not see me anymore. He says tapering/weaning off the medication is going against his recommendation and he will have no part in it.

Oh dear!  Yes, I have a friend who disagreed with her doctor and he "fired her" as a patient!  Of course he would as you are his source of income and needs your money.  Besides, if anything went wrong with you - you he doesn't want you suing him, so he is just covering his butt.

I went to 6 or 7 different doctors until I finally found one who has agreed to my slow taper.  He doesn't go along with it at all and doesn't believe in it at all, but at least he is letting me do it.

Please do not switch to another anti-psychotic!  Goodness me, you need to hold on the Seroquel dose you are on for as long as it takes to feel better.  Switching will confuse your brain yet again and put you in a worse place, probably back in hospital.

If anyone has any suggestions or advice on what I could do, it would be greatly appreciated. Ever since going down to 100mg the symptoms are still there, depression, racing thoughts, obsessive thoughts, intrusive thoughts, I did get a light headache. Not much of a difference being on 100 the past week down from 200mg. I did feel more sharp, and thinking more clearly those first few days on 100. But then the symptoms returned just like I was dealing wit them on 200mg. But my dr wants no part in it or tell me how to do it.

As you can see I have been doing some "catch up" with your posts.  So if my posts are not relevant, please ignore them!

What exactly are you on now?

Why  did you go from 200mg to 100mg and not take the advice of holding until you were stablilised and then doing a slow taper???

Lojo, you were on Lexapro and Seroquel for several years, and stopped the Lexapro.  You are very likely experiencing withdrawal from Lexapro, and it is quite likely there is nothing you can take to fix that.  SSRIs do not cover for each other very well as you discovered by trying a few others.  By reducing the Seroquel so quickly you're adding Seroquel withdrawal in as well.  Your goal should be to get as stable as you can, rather than to have no symptoms at all which just may not be possible.  The best way to get stable is to not change anything.  This means holding on a dose for a good while until things settle down, which could be several months.

If you are not able to find a better doctor, then you may have to appease your doctor by pretending to take what he recommends so that you can get the Seroquel prescriptions from him.  Better to pretend you're taking whatever dose of Seroquel he recommends than have him switch your meds.

I'm not sure why you keep asking for advice here, as everyone recommended tapering Seroquel slowly but instead you halved your dose.  Making big dose changes suddenly throws your system way out of balance and it is difficult for it to adjust to such large changes.  Very small dose changes are easier for your system to adjust to.  Holding at a dose allows your system some time to sort out the mess, rebalance and find some stability.

2001–2002 paroxetine

Yes lojo,

Songbird has great advice. I’ve been tapering off Seroquel for many years n have many, many more years to go. I go through withdrawals even though I’m tapering slowly. It’s not a good idea to reduce it quickly.

Please listen to all the advice  people are giving you here, it’s for your benefit.

All the best xxxx
