So afraid thinking this out loud will jinx me, but here goes... Knock on wood, so far the arm has settled. I'm no longer putting creams on it. In the morning, I wash it with the baby Aveeno body wash and cold water. Before bed, I just rinse it with cold water, no wash, no creams. I take my cooling pad to bed just in case. Last night, I only needed it for a short amount of time mid-night (around 3 am). When it gets itchy, I rinse it under cold water, nothing else. The rash is subsiding, and the itching is now more of a tingle. YAY!  shhh, don't jinx me!

Aside from that, nothing new. I know it's only been two weeks since reinstating. I'm sure there will be blips along the way, but so far, the reinstatement has worked wonders. Reinstating was very scary to me. The hell I was going through was hard enough, I was terrified it would multiply substantially by reinstating. It took a leap of faith that people online knew better than medical professionals when it came to withdrawing from antidepressants. I have no words that can fully express my deepest gratitude.

THANK YOU Alto, mods & friends.

Hi hun, thanks for the pop in. Sleep still evades me. I've never been a solid sleeper, except in my teens, when I could sleep 25 hours a day, lol. Getting older, I find myself waking several times a night thanks to my bladder. I toss & turn a lot as well. My reinstatement seems to have taken care of all withdrawal symptoms. I see my doctor next week. I'm sure he'll be surprised that I'm still holding at 5mg. HUGS!

My memory is a sieve.  What I can remember:

2006- Effexor started at 75mg upped to 300mg

somewhere after 2008- Switched to Cipralex started at 5mg upped to 20mg

occasional use of Ativan 0.5mg sublingual, usually given 7-10 tabs  -- (last used Nov 2017 ... previous? my mom's death probably? 2013)

Cold turkey Nov 13, 2017 (used Ativan once a day when it was unbearable until Rx finished)

24 Jan. 2018 - Reinstated Cipralex 5mg

31 Jan. 2018 - started Cetirizine Hydrochloride for severe allergies due to tattoo --- stopped 24 Feb. 2018

26 Feb. 2018 - Coversyl 4mg

I'm quite happy being at 5mg, even if it is for life. I'll take it day by day and hope that the depression can remain level. I'll remind myself NOT to jump off cold turkey ever again, rereading my thread, as well as others', to remind myself how incapacitating it was. Slow and steady wins the race. If I'm at the end of my race at 5mg, so be it.

Now to stop eating everything in sight... but that is another site's issues, lol.

My memory is a sieve.  What I can remember:

occasional use of Ativan 0.5mg sublingual, usually given 7-10 tabs  -- (last used Nov 2017 ... previous? my mom's death probably? 2013)

Cold turkey Nov 13, 2017 (used Ativan once a day when it was unbearable until Rx finished)

A month later and the tornados have stopped. I no longer have the shivers, the shakes or the "holy hell it's hot in here" moments. I have always been a cold-blooded type mammal. If I get cold, it takes forever to warm up again. But at least I'm back to "normal", whatever that is, lol.

Thanks hun, I'm  thrilled, as is my husband.

My memory is a sieve.  What I can remember:

2006- Effexor started at 75mg upped to 300mg

somewhere after 2008- Switched to Cipralex started at 5mg upped to 20mg

2017- added Wellbutrin 150mg to Cipralex 20mg

occasional use of Ativan 0.5mg sublingual, usually given 7-10 tabs  -- (last used Nov 2017 ... previous? my mom's death probably? 2013)

Cold turkey Nov 13, 2017 (used Ativan once a day when it was unbearable until Rx finished)

24 Jan. 2018 - Reinstated Cipralex 5mg

31 Jan. 2018 - started Cetirizine Hydrochloride for severe allergies due to tattoo --- stopped 24 Feb. 2018

26 Feb. 2018 - Coversyl 4mg

Currently: 5mg Cipralex , 16mg Serc (for Meniere's), 4mg Coversyl (high blood pressure)

Supplements: 300mg Magnesium

Went to Costco today, and didn't kill anyone... didn't even feel the need. The stupid people were still there, but my anxiety and agitation weren't. Now if we could only cure stupidity, lol. :P

I'm glad you are doing so well. It makes life so much easier. Will you have to take the "Serc" for life?

I just returned from the dr. I have no fever, sore throat or cough, but it's all in my sinuses. He put me on a zpack. But he also put me on synthroid because my TSH is now 7.3.

Take care,

Frogie xx

PREVIOUS medications and discontinuations: Have been on medications since 1996.

Valium, Gabapentin, Lamictal, Prilosec and Zantac from 2000 to 2015 with a fast taper by a psychiatrist.

Liquid Lexapro Nov, 2016 to 31-March, 2019 Lexapro free!!! (total Lexapro taper was 4 years-started with pill form)

---CURRENT MEDICATIONS:Supplements:Milk Thistle, Metamucil, Magnesium Citrate, Vitamin D3, Levothyroxine 25mcg, Vitamin C, Krill oil.

Xanax 1mg 3x day June, 2000 to 19-September, 2020 Went from .150 grams (average weight of 1 Xanax) 3x day to .003 grams 3x day. April 1, 2021 went back on 1mg a day. Started tapering May 19, 2023. July 28, 2023-approximately .87mg. Dr. fast tapered me at the end and realized he messed up. Prescribe it again and I am doing "slower than a turtle" taper.

19-September, 2020 Xanax free!!! (total Xanax taper was 15-1/2 months-1-June, 2019-19-September, 2020)

I just saw your thread and posted. Yes, Meniere's has no cure, so the Serc is a lifetime drug. When it isn't bad, I can drop it for a few days, but not for much longer than 3-4 days.

Sending you big hugs  I am so happy for you! Love K Xoxox

No news is good news. Saw my doctor the other day. He's happy, but surprised, that the 5mg had sufficed. My blood pressure is still awfully high, and he wants me back on Coversyl 4mg. I've been bad and not started it, yet. I have bloodwork scheduled for 4 weeks and see him shortly after that. Hopefully adding the Coversyl won't change anything regarding the WD.

Hi, Jane,

The blood pressure -- how high?  I used to have a resting heart rate of over 100 when I was on Zoloft 150 mg, but my blood pressure was always within range when it was tested.  I think it is likely that BP is changed by WD, but I would be afraid to ignore it.  Do you have a BP monitor at home?  You might test it frequently until you get the medicine, and then have some idea whether it fluctuates and how often it's too high?

Wow, 300 mg magnesium!  I wish I could take that much.  Maybe I can soon.  I took it last night before bed because I read that someone does that to keep the cortisol morning away.  There was no cortisol this morning.  Maybe that's why.

I'm glad you are feeling positive.  Wouldn't it be nice if just 5 mg is all you need?  And, yes, how surprised will some "scientists" be if that works for you long term?  I'm off for life, I guess.  It's a little scary to know that my crutch is inaccessible, but I don't think I'll ever feel that trying another drug is safe for me, but that's ok.  When I get well, I don't ever want to take the risk.

Good to hear no cortisol this morning. Wow Jane, what a great relief that you stabilized so quickly at only 5mgs. You were so smart and lucky you found this site BEFORE you reinstatement. You saved yourself a LOT of problems by reinstating a small amount and holding rather than doing what I did.

Hi Rosetta, umm, mind as a sieve, but if I remember correctly, it was 190/98 when he first did it, and 185/88 the second time (10 minutes later). Back when I was taking 8mg Coversyl, while my diabetes was being treated, it stabilized at 130/80. Since getting my A1C to "normal" levels, I was taken off all meds (but ADs & Serc) and it's slowly creeping back up. In November it was 185/94.

I've been taking magnesium for years. While I was doing a low carb diet, I needed it for nighttime muscle spasms. Maybe that's why I can handle 300mg now.

I really don't want to restart the Coversyl, but I also know if my stress eating would stop, and I went back on my low carb diet, I could lose the weight I've gained this past year and be off them again. My stupidity for allowing myself to wallow in mourning.

My memory is a sieve.  What I can remember:

2006- Effexor started at 75mg upped to 300mg

somewhere after 2008- Switched to Cipralex started at 5mg upped to 20mg

Cold turkey Nov 13, 2017 (used Ativan once a day when it was unbearable until Rx finished)

24 Jan. 2018 - Reinstated Cipralex 5mg

Thanks Dave. Yes SA has been a lifesaver. Had I not found it, I think I'd either have ended up in hospital on a cocktail of meds, or 6 feet under. It was a leap of faith, but I'm glad I took the jump! :)

I really don't want to restart the Coversyl, but I also know if my stress eating would stop, and I went back on my low carb diet, I could lose the weight I've gained this past year and be off them again. My stupidity for allowing myself to wallow in mourning.

Hi, Jane, Yes, that's high blood pressure.  I find it challenging to eat well, too.  I gained a lot of weight on Celexa.  I find that I have cravings for carbs again now that I have my appetite back.  I try to eat nuts at those times.  --Rosetta

2001-2011 Celexa 10 mg raised to 40 mg then 60 mg over this time period

May 2011 OB Doctor's Cold switch Celexa 60 mg to 10 mg Zoloft sertraline (baby born)

2012-2016 - Doctors raised dose of Zoloft up to 150 mg

2016 - Xanax prescribed - as needed - 0.5 mg about every 3 days (bad reaction)

2016 - Stopped Xanax

Late 2016- Began (too fast) taper of Zoloft

Early 2017 - Trazodone prescribed for bedtime (doseage unknown)

Feb 2017 - Completed taper/stopped Trazodone

If I wasn't so lazy, I'd make bacon & eggs. But 9 times out of 10 I reach for bread. I need to throw it all out and keep non-carb snacks in the house.  I have to kick my own butt into being good again. :P

It might be worth checking your BP by halti monitor.  In Australia the doctor can arrange it.  I think I had to pay a bond and a very small fee for the day.

What would that do? I've had high BP for over 15 years, before getting it under control with Coversyl and diet. My mom and her mom were both diagnosed with hypertension, controlled by drugs. Thankfully with my diabetes under control, I'm no longer considered "high risk" and with diet can bring it back in line. My doctor wants me on it since it's been 4 months with me stubbornly not losing weight.

Not as tasty, but I keep yogurt, boiled eggs, salami and chorizo, and cheese sticks in the fridge.  I get bored, of course.  Do you have avocados in Australia?  We have a fad here right now -- avocado toast with salt and pepper.  Amazing!!  It's a "good fat!" and whole wheat toast, of course.

I'm in Canada, and yes, we have avocados. I eat them several times a week. When I was in my full swing of low carb, veggies and nuts were my only carbs. I lost over 140lbs, but sadly gained half of that back in the past year. I'm bound and determined to get it back off again, as it was the healthiest time of my life. For me, it's always a mind thing. Unless I'm in the weight loss frame of mind, it's not gonna happen.

Updated drug sig to remove allergy pills and add blood pressure pills.  Arm is still doing well (knock on wood), I'm hoping whatever it was has gone away completely. Hoping to get my BP under control on the low dose and diet.

Haven't been online much. I'm having brain fog when it comes to the computer. Part of it is reading glasses issues, as I end up with a headache if I'm online too long. I have no problems watching TV, but I don't need glasses for that.

Hoping everyone is doing better than the day before.  Baby steps. HUGS.

Hi Jane:

I'm glad the itching and rash has stopped. Finally.

Sorry you are having high blood pressure. I'm just the opposite. Mine is running really low.

I haven't been on much at all either. I'm having problems with my thyroid. If it's not one thing it's another. This is the 3rd thyroid medication I've been on and have horrible side effects so I'm off of it. It's my TSH, all my other numbers are fine. So the dr is just going to watch it.

Take care,

I am not a medical professional.

The suggestions I make are based on personal experience.
