Oh Rabe, I am so sorry you have been so ill.  It really has been a long stretch.  It sounds like you are starting to feel a little better?  Thank you so much for your very kind message on my thread....it was so sweet of you to write midst all that you are going through.  I so hope you get some real relief very soon, Rabe.  I am thinking about you.

Hello dear Rabe

I'm pleased to see you posting again (and thank you for your kind message on my thread - how you manage to be so generous with all you are going through is amazing).

But I'm really sorry to hear that things have been extra-tough for you lately.  I'm so hoping things settle soon and you can get a bit of stability under your belt.

It's a testing time, sending you lots of love and best wishes

Hello Rabe

Thank you for your message on my thread.  You said: 'Most recently I listened to my therapist and psych doctor...both who said I have to stop being afraid and conquer my fears etc and have these tests.  So I had both when I thought should have only the upper GI.  I know now I was right....I have been set back hugely.....again which affects me and my family and my overall well being."

I'm so sorry this has had such an affect and set you back.

I can only say that you give me hope that we can endure these events, with your courage and strength to keep on keeping on giving me inspiration.  We are very lucky to have you with us on this site.  I'm sure in real life you are as caring and thoughtful for other people, too.

Thank you so much, I wish you recovery from the tests as soon as is possible.

love

I'm so very sad for you, Rabe.  I wish there were do-overs.  The anesthetic is really an issue for benzo users.  A receptor occupancy issue maybe?  I can't remember the details.

You will get better, but I know this is terrible.  I wish I could give you a big hug!!

All ll my love, R

@RosettaSorry forgot to tag the above.  Do you know how long it might take to feel better from that...been almost a month!!  Do you have thoughts on dropping the Viibryd again in couple weeks?  I really feel not stable and over reactive.  Maybe hold longer?  Yet seems as time goes on I feel good AM and then take V and start eating and drinking all the electrolyte stuff and by 230 0r so I have this massive anxiety spike and finally things all settle later in eve.  Wondering if V is more of issue as Clonazepam works its way out.  Who knows.  I dont know anything anymore...and feel afraid to go anywhere because Im ok one minute and a mess the next. Very sad.  Take care.💜

Rabe,

I'm sorry that I have no real answers.  You are between a rock and a hard place.  After the anesthetic it seems prudent to hold for a while.  At the very least "wait 4 weeks between disruptive events and to be extra careful 6" -- that's the rule.  So, when you say 2 weeks is that your reasoning?  It's been two weeks since the procedure? (I'm not sure.) Of course, it depends on how you feel when the day comes, but I empathize with your desire to get the Viibryd dose lower.  I'm sorry I'm not knowledgable enough to help you weigh the risk.  I'm not sure anyone could do that at this point.

There are so many factors, but what about the doctor?  Are you expecting another forced decrease in the V?  I want to give you an answer, but ultimately you pay the price if I am wrong, and I can't even begin to weigh the choice myself.  I think I would wait a full six weeks from the procedure date and see how I felt in the few days leading up to that date.  On the other hand you "seem" to be yo-yo-ing.  You think it's because of the Viibryd dose upending you, but we have no way to know if you are simply unstable and in no shape to taper.  Please don't forget that many people have to go slower for the last 10 mg.  The "smell the barn" instinct is to go faster, but I have seen many people caution that that is a mistake.  There you have it: no real answer.  I'm so sorry.

I hope that you got some good news from the procedure?  Is there an "all clear" for the lower tract?   Did anyone tell you why the esophagus is bleeding?

The best and biggest hug ((((((((((Rabe))))))))))

Love, Rosetta

@Rosetta @Waterfall @RusTW

Thank you for stopping.  Yes I am really a mess.  Am anxious and pacing and so so wound up all day.  Have not seen my family since the procedure on Feb 14...yes if I could take it back I would.  The day of the procedure I felt so 'normal'...guess that was the drug?  I didnt know it is such a problem for benzo users...I have had the usual light sedation in the past but not this.  I am so upended.  My system is so off...reacting to meds and foods and so wound up but this morning was so so fatigued along with it and much of the day.  And I find myself freezing so often...and worse after the Clonazepam???  I tried driving to see my girls but I just could not do it.  I thought it unsafe to be driving that way and knew I would not be any good even if made it there...tried twice.  It breaks my heart though.

I need to get through this, somehow heal the esophagus, taper sometime, find a different CLonazepam tablet which I think is not a good idea at this point but have no choice.  My niece who is a pharmacist said to dissolve the C tablet in 5cc of water and remove 4.5cc to get the .9mg dose???  Sounded SO easy!!  Know it cannot be that easy.  She said could do same with Viibryd...but didnt know how Viibryd dissolves.

I found another pharmacy as I am so fed up with the crazy capsule filling from the other.  Theysay they can compound with just the CLonazepam powder...IDK if that is ok/similar to the tablet as far as absorption and all?  IDK.  Im tired, dont want to eat cause of the affects...just look at food and turn away, tired of drinking the coconut water and pedialyte and all.  I just feel tired, and very very sad.  I made a quilt for my grand daughter and had hoped to get it to her.  Grateful to have had that nearly done before the procedure.

What exactly is this Rosetta?  I think I am...ok one day or part of day and then not the next.  Today was mostly down but had very brief periods when felt but better but didn't last.  Yes do feel need to get off meds and at same time wonder if that is what I should do.  IDK.  IDK which med is bigger issue if either.  As said, dont seem to feel right about much I have made so many bad decisions in past 4 years.

Please dont be sorry....thank you so so much for sharing what you know.  I am so grateful as it just helps to have something to go on when so lost as right now I wonder really if I will get through all this.  IDK.  The esophagus is bleeding because of the reflux.  My stomach sphincter is not working at all.  I started reacting to my prevacid at home and then far worse after the rapid taper here...am no longer able to take it and reacted to pepcid etc so just took nothing.  Then the carafate with dyes that wasnt supposed to but the nurse would not fix it so I used it and reacted to that...so now dont know what to do.  Oh well.

Sorry to be such a debbie downer. UGH!  Been long time since was this sick...well since last rapid taper I think...and then the first Viibryd taper, and after the policeman etc too I guess.

In any cases thank you everyone here...love you all!  Take care!!💜

You will get through this.  I'm glad you stayed home.  Your daughter is going to have to come to you.

You need to stabilize before you reduce any med -- to be clear.  It's my (poor) understanding that the anesthesia interferes with the Clonazapam such that it is as if you missed a dose.  So, you are just going to have to get through it.  I doubt you are reacting to food, but that's possible. I think you are going through a bad, bad wave.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you.  The doctor should know by now that this might happen!! Grrrr!!!

It's  going to be ok eventually.  Now is the time to say to everyone -- I need to be home.  Your daughter should think about doing something to help you.  Grocery shopping, maybe?  Easy to digest foods.  Fodmaps diet?

I was just going to try to look up after anesthesia here...and here you were.  Thats so upsetting!  It does feel so not right....what you said makes sense.  I did look up propofol and it SAYS it does not interfere with other receptors...but that makes no sense...then I found this:

Propofol in anesthesia. ... The action of propofol involves a positive modulation of the inhibitory function of the neurotransmitter gama-aminobutyric acid (GABA) through GABAA receptors.

So what you said makes sense...so is it like kindling if it changes it from inhibitory to positive?  So was like I took MORE of the CLonazepam?  IDK. Just know things are really really not right.  I do react to foods again, and meds...my system just goes off the wall when so shocked...always has but this was lots I guess...naively didnt think it would be as have had these tests and preps in past but my system was stable then.

The anesthesia should have known?  Trust me I asked!!  No problem he said!  It is SO hard to trust anything or anyone.

No, my daughter texted bit ago and was very short and said it sucks that I live 40 min away and she hasn't seen me since the procedure o the 14th.  Said she hopes to see me next week.  Said I need to get out because sit-in here I just think more about my symptoms.  Oh well....as I said she is her father and also no one can possibly know what this is like especially your children who have come to expect you to be there for them always.

And yes...I know I need to stabilize.  I guess my thoughts were that the Viibryd capsules are so screwy that I will essentially be dropping the dose anyway as they go from .259 tp .227 or something in weight and the contents are less..so its like I am reducing anyway...so figured might as well get them compounded at a different pharmacy (hopefully better) at the 8.50...but may be that isn't right.  IDK that either.

Bless you Rosetta..AGAIN!  Famous minds!!  Love nd hugs to you!  I hope you are able to sleep well tonight and get to the desert!💜

I DO need to be home...SO wish I WAS still in my home...I miss it so so much.

I don't know how you are going to do it, but you have to stop feeling bad that your daughter expects you to go to her.  That is not written in stone anywhere.  Even if you were not sick she can come to you.  Forty minutes is not a big deal.   I'm sorry she is "like her father."  That's very sad for you, but I hope you don't feel guilty for not doing the impossible.  It is not safe for you to drive.  She is quite capable of coming to see you, she's younger and she's healthy.

All anesthesiologists should know, but they don't.  Health care in this country is a joke.  I'm not sure about agonist/inhibitor or any of that, but your reaction doesn't surprise me.  This must happen all the time to people on benzos.  I wouldn't be surprised if the destabilization sometimes begins which one of these procedures.  Putting people on benzos is such a terrible mistake in most cases.

I think the water method is a very good idea.  As you get lower in dose none of the compounding pharmacies will be able to keep your dose stable.  The amounts are too tiny.  No one believes it matters enough.  If you were doing this yourself you would know it matters.  Many people have success with it.

@Rosetta Thank you again!  You are always so clear to me and get right to the heart of things.  You are right ... I do feel guilty .... but thats my issue and Im sure has to do with what I watched go on in my home for years before doing anything about it.

She is quite capable but packing up some things for one child is huge for her.  Truth is she does not handle stress well either...no one in family does all over my family for years.  So I get that as well.  I just have to somehow REALLY get to the acceptance of it all and know i am truly doing my best (though I admit I often dont think that when others keep indicating as Neroli has said that we are not) and let the rest go...but as you know that can be a challenge daily.

2 hours ago, Rosetta said:

I wouldn't be surprised if the destabilization sometimes begins which one of these procedures.

It was after my colonoscopy at home (after the move and toxin exposure and remove etc) that I had the 2 hour panic driving to MKE.  My system got better staying with a dear friend and AA sponsor for a few months But she said I was going all the time...just running here and there or resting.  Think I have been running on Cortisol for years.  After the wedding and I moved again and started tapering and was on and off various meds is when things really crashed...then here for 'help'.  But it was after the surgery, colonoscopy and heart cath (lots of drugs) that things really, in hind sight, got spooky.  I was definitely manic.  Makes me really sad...and angry at the lack of knowledge...but thats all done with.  So, yes, I need to take care of myself and try to move forward.

Thing I ask myself is can this really happen?  Can I really get off these meds and live a life?  IDK.  I got up this morning and gratefully felt better than yesterday morning.  But then I have the choice of which Viibryd capsule to take...half full, 3/4 full, full...IDK.  Ridiculous way to get stable.  So I need to look at that as well.

Sent a note to BM asking for how much water have to dissolve V in...at least I can look at things and see how it seems it would go.  I have already contacted other pharmacy in the mean time and will try their compounding.  He got back to me right away and explained how the compounding goes and how it is harder to compound with a pill than just a powder.  Was interesting.

I see the doctor next Tues..that should be interesting.  Its hard too as I wake up today feeling good..do some yoga and al...and then not too long after capsule and food I am anxious again.  Just very frustrating!!!  I dont understand.

Than you Rosetta.  I hope you have a good day and that you DO get to the flowers on the dessert!!!  Pick one and put it at home...look at it and not what is around it, ok??  Love and hugs to you my dear friend!!  You are most special!!💜

and its hard not wanting to get off the meds...not so much a rush to the end as feeling so yucky on them...but I didnt always feel this yucky on them.  But that is when I was STABLE.  I am so more and more seeing the connection there....between the stress and the instability.  I tend to forget it when feeling better and do more and set myself back.  Just a walk can be too much.  Oh well...blessings!!!!💜

I have to say this is the worst I have ever been.  I feel pretty good for a bit and then the next I am pacing and paniky and so not well.  Then I feel better a bit and then not.  I feel so hopeless today.  I dont know how to get through this.  I cant get out at all.  I feel like I am losing my mind.  It is hard to believe that a procedure could result in this..if thats what it is...Im assuming as I wasnt like this before...even in bad waves.  This is so different.  I just dont know that I can do this on and on.  The panic comes on over and over and over..I feel as if I will die.  Nothing in my body seems stable.  I dont know what to do.. Im sorry to post this....Im so lost and scared.

Oh Rabe, please don't be sorry for posting how you are feeling.....it is good you are reaching out expressing how you are feeling. I just am so sorry things are so very challenging at the moment. It seems like a good sign that you do feel pretty well for a bit so your brain can get to a better place.  You've also been better before this latest wave.  These are all reasons to feel hopeful even though I know it is impossible to feel that way when you are having such terrible symptoms.  Just keep holding on, Rabe....that is all you need to do.  You will get back to a better place, your brain is working hard to get you there. I am thinking about you and sending lots of hugs.

@wantrelief Oh WR...thank you fo much for being here!  I am just overwhelmed.  Feeling pretty ok this morning then early afternoon it all started again. ..so hot and then freezing...actually turn purple...crazy.  And SO anxious I cannot stand still, cant get out, cant eat.  IDK if is combination of the anesthetic and whatever i reacted to there plus the reaction to the med for the esophagus...guess doesnt matter at this point.  My body feels like it did at home before I came here...all over the board in all ways.  Now after the CLonazepam I am exhausted which usually is not he case either.  I got suddenly so dizzy today I thought I would pass out.  I have no clue what is up but it is up and down with no desire to want to do anything because of the rapid fluctuations and unpredictability which I was used to...but not with the degree of these symptoms.  And nothing seems to calm it.  I have tried all I know and have looked for more here.

Thank you again.  I hope your drop goes well !  Bless you my friend! 💜

Hi Rabe,

I think I noticed that you do have an appointment tomorrow with your Dr. who prescribes your Viibryd, as well as supplies the free samples, for compounding Viibryd to you.  I'm not sure, but I think this is Dr. of addiction medicine.  So, I just want you to prepare for that as best you can.  Let him know what you think you need,  at this point,  with the Viibryd dose.   Stay focused on just getting what you need.  Sending you good, good, healthy, luck vibes........

2 hours ago, Rabe said:

had decreased V to 8.75 on 1-27....couple weeks before

Were you able to note any changes specific to W/D(independent of everything else since the taper) due to your 2.8% decrease?

I know you anticipated that you might not feel anything until 2 weeks after the taper.

I know it's it's hard to tell, given that you had procedures, and probably a GI clean out in prep for ?colonoscopy........right around that 2 week point.

And that you are still struggling fiercely, to get back to more of a semblance of withdrawal stability.

So glad to see, in your post to Shep that, at least the most recent labwork still shows stable potassium and sodium levels.  That's great.  It does sound like you suffered some symptoms of electrolyte instability, in the week after the preps and procedures though.  I've followed your reports as best I could.  And saw that you noted ER and clinic visits, due to feeling like electrolytes were off and very high anxiety.  I believe you Rabe.  Things were probably fluctuating wildly.  So sorry.  You've been through so much in the past month or so.

You're doing valiantly(brave, strong, going to make it).  And trust me, I know how it can be.........doing so much of this alone, without much of a support system who really gets it.  Thank goodness for Spring coming soon.

Anyway........keep it simple now would be my suggestion........as far as the Viibryd goes.  If you think you might do okay with another, no greater than 2.5% decrease from your 8.75 mg present dose of compounded capsules of Viibryd.........go for it.  If not, ask for his patience in just having you HOLD again.

I'm not sure when the switch to new generic Klonopin will be coming either.  Of course that has to be treated like a dose change, and should be done, while no other changes are going on ideally.

And eat Rabe.  Eat the best you can right now.

Wishing you the best with your appointment ? tomorrow and getting to some further stability.

Love, peace, healing, and growth,

manymoretodays

additional thought:  On the varying weights of your present compounded capsules of Viibryd.  Let's just try and assume that it's due to the filler for now and that the active ingredient itself, in each capsule, is within standard compounder's range of variance.  Why not focus on the better reality?  That's all I'm saying.

Okay then.

@manymoretodays  The electrolytes were off...repeatedly..before the procedure, day of, and now after...yes when they are off I can be tired, thirsty, weak, dizzy, muscles cramp, anxious, depressed, etc.  Friday was first day they have been normal.  Today IDK.Trying my best.

The dr tomorrow is my regular psych doctor...surely no addiction specialist from what has gone on though he may see himself as such.

I just talked to the pharmacy and ordered more capsules of both...it will be the last of the CLonazepam so will have to go to Clonazepam powder in filler or find another generic..IDK which is best.

I got another V rx because these capsules are not right.  Its not the weights, though they are way off, it is that it is very easy to see they are filled to different levels ...the ones with less weigh less and the ones with more weigh more which makes sense but its not ok.  If was just little wouldn't notice but the differences are ridiculous.  Just want some that are more uniform until I can get switched to a different pharmacy.  Perhaps they will do a better job.  My niece is a pharmacist and I sent her a photo and she said that it is not right.

I am eating as best I can...would like to do better there but reacting to foods as well so have to eat what I can.

Thank you for your thoughts...I am grateful MMT.  Have a good day out of the cave!!💜

Okay.  Yar then.  If the electrolytes were off before the procedure.......what do you think was going on then?  It wouldn't have been due to anesthesia or the colonoscopy prep.

22 hours ago, manymoretodays said:

Were you able to note any changes specific to W/D(independent of everything else since the taper) due to your 2.8% decrease?

Were you able to keep logs and note specifics around the taper itself, independent of all the tests and preps, and propofol used?  The reason I ask, is that this will be really helpful in then guiding you, when you make further Viibryd tapers.  You'll know what and when to expect what, and then about how long it takes to resolve.  Do you follow the logic of that, Rabe?

I mean that's what I eventually was able to do when tapering my last medication, Trileptal/oxcarbazapine(a whole different class of drug), but just the same, it allowed me to know my own patterns with tapering, and then plan accordingly.

And especially, do you think that the electrolyte imbalance is/was partially or at all due to the changes in your Viibryd?  You may not know.  Up the line here though.......perhaps posting some logs again might help you/us clarify what's what.

For now though.....I'm just happy you hit some stability with the sodium and potassium.  Phew.

And your heart is okay?  I noticed you mentioned somewhere a heart catheterization, some time ago..........so just wondered on that.  When you had your regular physical and check up.....the last most recent one.........did your GP feel okay about your heart function.  With withdrawal, I mean so many of us do feel palpitations as a symptom, and I know in your previous logs you mentioned stuff like "heart off" or something.  So just want you to be safe and cover all the bases.  I'd hate to be saying, oh, it's just W/D, if it was more than that.

And good, good on some further consistency to the Viibryd compounded capsules.  Really hard to even attempt a careful cross over to just using the tablets with such a variance in weight with those.  Remember when you weighed the actual tablets.  Those were nice and consistent in weight.  If we can get that with capsule contents too........you can cross on over soon.  With the Viibryd.  Which was the plan awhile back.  Even though they are "not right", I'm still hoping it's more due to filler..........as that would complicate the situation a whole lot less!

So what are you going to ask for, in terms of dose then tomorrow?  Hold at 2.88 mg or not?  (Correction:  meant to say, hold at the 2.88% reduction, NOT mg )  In light of your current status, it might be best for now.  Unless you think any of this has to do directly with the Viibryd itself.

Of course, I can't make the final decision for you.......can only hope to empower you with information a bit, and empower you with knowing your own reactions and to what.  It takes time Rabe.  You are doing great.

And okay thanks.  This doctor is just the ordinary shrink variety then.......lol......B)  That's good.  You are not an addict.  I hate when they treat these dependencies as such and treat people badly.  And you've had a tough time being heard for a long time.  As well as so much trauma.  Hugs sweetie.

I'm gonna go peek at your other reply now too.

Love, peace, healing, and growth,

mmt

and oh yes, a good day today, and out of the cave!  I have to just be careful to not jump too far back in(in my offline life) too fast now.  Feeling real hopeful though. 🔆:D (gotta love these imoges!)
