lp51: going off Paxil?

Recommended Posts

Liquid is what I was using. Very expensive but I stuck to it until I couldn't make the dosages small enough. But thanks, I will check out what you sent in case there is info that wasn't available before.

Took 11 months to kick Benzo? On Paxil for ten years 20mg? Got down to 7.5mg easily but hit a wall.Tried to lower it but kept hitting walls and updosing until..Now liquid Paxil4/3/2013 Took over 6 months to reach 7.2mg =3.6mL5/3/13 7.0 mg = 3.5 mL8/13. 3 mL or 6.6 mg7/5/2014 took a year to get to 6.1 but am stable there and still going.<p>12/2014 now at 6.05mL The good news, no or almost no withdrawal symptoms.

Have MS now so every little drop is difficult with symptoms. Not fun!

Stopped withdrawing at 6mg.

Got too hard with MS and is taking way too long...years, over 10. I may not be here that long and didn't want to spend my entire life in withdrawal so gave up at 6mg. Got a compound pharmacy to make the exact amount.

I have to squelch the feeling that "they" won! Really sucks but oh well, I have my life back.

If you make your own you can just keep diluting until you can measure out enough.

I use a celexa solution I make myself (currently a 4mg = 1ml dilution), but as it gets lower I'll double and triple the mount of water until I can measure out 1mg etc.

Ewhat do you use to mix it in and do you use a syringe to get the amounts correct?

I just mix it in water.  I crush the tablets between a folded piece of baking paper with a rolling pin, empty it into a little container and use a 5ml syringe to measure the water in. I put the lid on, swirl it around, and then measure out my dose. The amount I make lasts 3-4 days, and I swirl it before taking as the solute (pill) can settle to the bottom.

So at the moment, 2 x 40mg pills dissolved in 4 x 5ml syringe measures of water. Each 1ml contains 4mg citalopram.

I take 3.5ml (14mg). I use the 5ml syringe for now, but have a 1ml syringe for when I get lower.

I think Paxil is soluble in water? You can check. And yes, use a syringe to measure the water.

BTW, it does taste vile. So always have a chaser ready!

Hey lp51,

Sorry for the noob question, but what is MS?

Good luck,

Tim

Took my first SSRI sipralexa/lexapro/escitalopram in 2007 for depression. In 2010 the doctor switched me to paroxetine/seroxat/paxil for anxiety.

My paroxetine story from then on:

2010-15 from 10mg up to 20mg

jan 2016 30mg

may 2016 0mg cold turkey (don't!)

dec 2016 symptoms: anxiety, tremor (could barely stand)

jan 2017 reinstated at 7.5mg to taper in steps of 10%

...

Dose changes from may 2017 to now:

5.0/4.7/4.4/4.0/3.7/3.5/3.3/3.1mg
