Parisien: premature ejaculation escitalopram 10mg and Brintellix 5mg - sexual dysfunction

Ok, I am ”only” 12 months in….

I have pain in my legs, feet and lower back and an electric feeling going on from my waist down my feet. It really feels like a messed up CNS. My brain has improved alot the last couple of months. Cognitive problems, brain fog and anhedonia much better. My biggest concern is the lack of sexuality, shrunk and numb penis and my pain. My symptoms are changing all the time and thats a good thing I guess?!

How far in are you? Do you think you can heal 100%?

PSSD is an absolute nightmare….hopefully it has to do with the CNS and that it heals along with the CNS healing.

Hey I have similar symptoms!

I am currently 2,5 years off but fluoxetine WD took months to Kick in... so probably 2 years on 0,0.

It has definetely something to do with cns... I sometimes have erections but don’t feel a lot and sometimes feels good but bad erection.

sometimes tired and then powerful, sometimes low mood then high... I think it can resolve. Maybe not 100%, but I would be fine with a constant Muscle power, cognitive and sexual power, which is enough to satiafy the needs of my girl. I don’t take myself first place, I want the woman more to be happy.

I think we will get there :)

Best,

Ben

Good evening, @Ben190 and @Avicii what do you mean by shrunk a long time ago and it has improved since?  Because I have the impression that precisely it has shrunk since the total cessation of my treatment.  Will it continue to shrink?  Because I lost 1 to 2cm easy.  If it still continues, it's serious.  Because tell me but I think that if it shrunk the opposite effect will not occur that's why I pause the question of your message I did not understand when you say it shrunk a long time ago but since  it's improved .. I also have orgasms without pleasure.  The brain fog as well as the fatigue and the insomnia could at the limit be bearable by telling myself that with time it will pass because I have seen many say that it will pass.  And even for PSSD I've seen recovery stories here after a few years.  But not knowing if my penis will continue to shrink makes me anxious, I'm very afraid.  Same for premature ejaculation it came back for you?  If you can tell me more please about the shrinkage of your penis I have stopped treatment for 1 month.  I have also made an appointment with my general practitioner to do all the examinations possible and unimaginable, but I have no illusions.  I hope the shrinkage will stop because I will be surprised if the centimeters come back afterwards

Hello everyone, I was on seroplex 10mg in October 2019 for over a year and then on brintellix from March to September for maybe 8 months. I made several attempts to stop abruptly then I resumed the treatment of brintellix recently for a few weeks because it was too difficult to stop.

Symptom when stopped: premature ejaculation, ejaculation with less orgasm. Severe insomnia, transient headaches, sensitivity to noise and light.

 God morning @Parisien

No I don’t think that my penis has continued to shrunk, it has been the same dead penis now for 8 months. It’s about 2-3 cm shorter and much thinner. The only time it’s kind of normal is when I force myself to an erection. I have like 95% length when fully erected….it’s obvious that I have zero natural blood flow to my penis and that’s why it has shrunk. With blood coming back it might get back to normal-ish. I think my system is in a constant ”fight or flight” mode so my penis is not what my brain wants to put focus on.

I never touch my penis anymore, I think everything needs to rest. If I masturbate my CNS gets disturbed and it makes my healing harder. I do no porn, Nofap, No touching. I try not to even think about sex because my CNS is going crazy when I do. I also get brain fog when I touch myself or think about sex.

I have improved over the last 3-4 months but I have a loooong way to go.

I would without a question sacrifice my left arm to have my sexuality back. Without sex, life doesn’t make sense…

@Ben190Congatulations for being able to have a girl. I have no problem getting a lot of dates but I have nothing to offer anymore. I can’t connect with girls anymore, sexual or emotional. Maybe in 1,5 year I can when I’m where you are now, 2,5 years in.

I saw an urologist by the way and he told my that shrinkage is not permanent if the main issue resolves. I don’t trust that 100% because I have also read that tissues and blood vessels does get permantly affected if you never get an erection. I don’t know what to believe and I don’t care anymore. As long  as I get my sexuality back and the system running I can live with my penis being 2cm shorter.

Keep fighting Boys!

Hello @Avicii, so your sex decreased while taking antidepressant or from the moment you stopped it?  And does it continue to decrease over time or does it stop?

No I had a good sexuality when I took the antidepressant. My problems begun 2 months after CT the pills. I remember the day it all happened. I was on a date with a beautiful girl and at the same moment as I got excited my whole CNS went crazy. There was an electric feeling throughout my whole body and from that day things went bad. I got pain in my genitals and shrunk penis. I think all of my problems has to do with an extremely dysregulated CNS and it needs a lot of time to heal. I can feel my body is healing and I am improving but it’s so slow. Hopefully my sexuality and my penis returns when my CNS is healed.

Hey guys,

penis size and so on does come back. I am still fighting with battle to get erection and no Libido. Orgasm resolved, feelings down there are better most of the time. Honestly night erections are crazy and it feels good to use the bed in the morning:D no more details... :P

but I am really tired, sometimes Brain fog, bad Memory, muscle weakness, constant will to just relaxe.

so I hope it will keep going to get better.

@parisien: I had exactly what u are talking about. Penis looked smaller and thinner, this resolved already.

I think this should give you hope. Don’t touch any drugs,

My sexuality was gone when I took Prozac, just a few days later I felt something has changed. I lost directly night erections and erections in general. It is better now than in these days. So it was the best decision to get it off and stay away from any med shi*.

If there's one thing I'm sure of, it's that I'll never touch this drug again, which has done us all a lot of harm here without our knowledge.  Healing can be very long but personally I see small improvements every day and I hope that one day we will be like before.  Your penis has therefore reduced in size and then to regain that initial size is it really possible?  When you say it has been resolved does that mean that today you have found the original size?  I thought if my cock shrunk it would never regain its size.  If it's back to normal, how long did it take for you to see this change?  Me, it's been a month that I no longer touch any stamp.  And it's only since stopping that I notice that my sex has shrunk and I have some pain.  On the other hand the nocturnal erections returned but not in the morning.  Me while taking antidepressants my libido had increased but it was when I stopped it that it went down.  Yesterday I tried to run 20 minutes but I had a big headache so today rest I will try the sport again on Saturday.  Do either of you take magnesium?  Or fish oil?  Does it do you good?

Ah yes I also completely lost my orgasm.  I manage to be excited to have an ejaculation but it is without pleasure.  It came back to 100% for you?

Yes, size is normal, so I think maybe when I have an erection it could be a Bit longer when I one day get to 100% again. But lets say non erection is normal size... but I still Deal with erectyle dysfunction thats why i don’t get to 100% size when I have an erection. You feel pain in your Penis? I had that too, it gets better. For me the turning point when things started to improve was close before 2years off. But I still have Problems to get an erection and no Libido.

orgasm is sometimes 90% sometimes 100% as before taking the stupid drugs.

I tried it but I could not feel any difference. I just try to eat healthy and eat enough vegetables and fruits like blueberries.

I am sure we all get better and better, but it can be slow and frustrating.

Best,

Ben

Ben

It's rather reassuring then, but I had to understand how our sex can shrink and then return to a normal size, are you sure?  Yes I have some bearable pain but sometimes it throws me lower.  I think that sport can help for the libido, precisely, doing sport or being active makes you very tired, but in the long term it does little good for your morale.  Blueberries?  I'll try

If less blood gets there it’s pretty normal that it shrinks.

And yes I am sure :) you would never see that I have erectyle dysfunction because je Looks pretty normal.

I want to do more Sports as well but I always feel very tired days later, so maybe 2-3 times per week as a start. I will keep you updated

Already if you tell me that your penis had shrunk and then regaining its normal size gives me hope.  You saw it shrink over a period of how long and return to its normal size when?  For your orgasm which has also returned you must be relieved.  Are your emotions back?  Do you have feelings like before?  We keep you informed of the evolution in any case I hope with all my heart that you will still improve yourself thank you to you

My penis was really thin... so yes has changed :) I think for me it was nearly 1,5 years and then it began to change for the better. Yes it’s pretty good that orgasm came back and feels normal. Emotions Are still not that intense but much better. I have feelings, sometimes I am sad, sometimes happy, I can laugh again.

I hope so too and you will improve too.

@Ben190 Alright thank you.  If my penis has shrunk, so I hope it will return to normal size if it did for you.  What also bothers me and I hope it will get better is the fact of sleeping when I get there I wake up with a hangover.  I don't feel like I'm resting, you do it too?  If you take magnesium it does you good and at what dose?  I also hope that it will still go well for you, there's no reason we'll be able to heal completely, you have to believe in it, every day without drugs is a day to win and recover, that's what I tell myself.  Being positive also helps to heal even if sometimes it is not easy.  Me what makes me really sad is the premature ejaculation and the sex that has shrunk.  By the way, your premature ejaculation if you had one has come back?  I am relieved to know that sex can return to normal size even if each case is different.  After for the mental side the brain fog I know it will take time

I really hope that the size of my penis will return to normal.  I wonder about my ability to recover after my sudden cessation of my antidepressant treatment taken for more than 2 years even if you tell me that for you it was better you stopped it since when in fact?  Gradually or all at once?

 I read this:

"Indeed, serotonergic neurons have adapted the sensitivity of their receptors to a high concentration of serotonin, which is suddenly reduced upon discontinuation of the antidepressant. The incidence of this adverse effect depends on the elimination half-life  of the drug and its dosage.

So neurons transmit chemical substances to each other.  By what mechanism?

It's very simple: there is a neuron that emits serotonin, another that receives this serotonin.

Where there is a small subtlety - is that the neuron which emits serotonin, recovers a small part after the fact.

This is called reuptake of emitted serotonin.

If you understood that, you understood everything about how modern antidepressants work.

Because what they do is block the "retrieval" of serotonin by the neuron that just fired it.  They prevent him from taking back “his part”.  Consequence: the "receptor" neuron will receive more serotonin!"

But do you think that by stopping the antidepressant there is not a blockage?  As reabsorption was blocked during the intake, does it return to normal and within how long?

Hello everyone, I was on seroplex 10mg in October 2019 for over a year and then on brintellix from March to September for maybe 8 months. I made several attempts to stop abruptly then I resumed the treatment of brintellix recently for a few weeks because it was too difficult to stop.

Second question: why the hell did nature expect our neurons to “recapture” part of the serotonin they emit?

 Again, we don't really know.

And this is where it gets downright worrisome.  Because it is obviously useful for something.  It is certainly not for nothing that we have specialized receptors on our neurons, whose sole mission is to recover part of the serotonin emitted.

But if it helps, isn't it worrying to chemically block this natural process?  Isn't it the very definition of the sorcerer's apprentice to brutally interfere in this way with an organ as sensitive and misunderstood as the brain?

Who knows if this blockage could not be the beginning of an explanation for the very worrying effects that antidepressants produce on the personality of patients?

Emotional apathy, manic agitation [10], suicidal thoughts [11]: these are some of the common side effects of antidepressants… and the causes of which are still completely unknown!

Third question, probably the most explosive: doesn't the artificial increase of serotonin in the synapse risk producing problematic long-term consequences... such as a form of habituation or addiction?

We are not sure yet… but it is very likely!

As we have seen, under the effect of the drug, the “receptor” neuron receives more serotonin than it would have received naturally.

The risk, of course, is that our brain seeks to thwart this situation that it did not want.

Faced with this "excess" of serotonin, the receptors can "dull", become "desensitized".  Their number may even be reduced.  And if that happens, it will take more serotonin in the future to achieve the same result.  Like a drug.

You see what I mean ?

It's very interesting to read but its also breaks a lot of questions...

I'm happy to have found a forum that finally recognizes how much harm antidepressants can cause in our lives.

Hello @Parisien!

How are you doing currently? How's your sleep?

peace + healing

- Severe crash after 4 month taper to 0

Hi @Parisien,

it surprises me to see you here. I didn't see you for a while and thought that you recovered from PE.

How are you doing? Any improvements?

September 2019 - December 2020: Paroxetine (20mg). Withdrawal within 2 weeks. From 20mg to 10mg for 2 weeks. Premature ejaculation after withdrawal for 1-2 months. No other problems.

Mid of June 2021 - End of August 2021: Paroxetine (10mg). Withdrawal within 2 weeks. From 10mg to ~5mg for 2 weeks. Reason for withdrawal: Sexual dysfunction. After withdrawal, even more sexual dysfunction (no libido, premature ejaculation), anhedonia -> PSSD?

Hello @Ouioui123 I still sleep quite badly, either way too much or not enough and I go to bed late.  Thank you for your message and how are you?  Thank you @AnxietyNauseaMyEnemyand yes unfortunately I had taken it back in the meantime because the side effects of withdrawal were really too hard but I think I managed to get rid of this poison I am at 1 month and a week and I don't  don't plan to take it back I take it on myself even if I suffer I tell myself that it will eventually pass.  Concerning premature ejaculation it is always present.  And you, is it improved?  How are you ?

When you stop taking your medication, the serotonin available in your brain is mechanically reduced.  But if in the meantime, your receptor neurons have been desensitized, you will find yourself… with a chronic serotonin deficiency!!  With disastrous and chronic effects on your mood!

I cant tell you the medical part behind antidepressants. But things do get better, don’t think too much about it. Try to let time pass and keep going :) and Never take anything again, your system needs to come down. It didn’t like the pills.

And never look back instead try to make plans how would u like Ur life to be in 2years?

Thank you well @Ben190, I admire your positivity you must really be a good person with a real good background I recen it.  I would like to believe it I would like to tell myself that it will be better but it's been a month and a half a little less and I don't see any improvement.  I am really in pain.  Jesseye to see friends my family to play sports and despite all my efforts my insomnia is getting worse and worse my headaches too, it's this voi on my face that I'm bad I can't concentrate to hold the  look during a conversation I really feel as if I was somewhere else or shooting when I no longer take anything.  And I'm not even talking about my sexual problems.  I would really like to believe that it will work out over time, but when?  When did you see the improvements?  Because here I am literally cracking up.  I wonder if having suddenly stopped the treatment has not damaged me irreversibly and if it is not preventing my recovery.  Only time as you say can help me but I feel so bad and despair.  Tell me a bit about yourself about your progress of the process of when you stop how etc please and if you feel like it.  Even negative ratings because I don't understand how my life could have changed like that I had so much quality I feel like I've lost everything from being more than a shadow

Yes I am definetely a very good Person and always there for others. With the conversations it’s crazy that you mentioned exact that aspect as I had that too for a long time. I was unable to follow a conversation, could not hold eye contact and I had so much constant pain in my body. A lot of things improved over time, now I am able to work most of the time, follow discussions and go to the gym. I was unable to do so for 2 years. Every time I hit the gym things would be worse after that... it was crazy. I didn’t have power and after every walk I felt like pain in my legs everywhere. Sometimes I had to stop on the walk and just sit down to rest. I will take a look at my history later and give you some feedback but maybe you can give me a list of symptoms and I can tell you when it got better. But you always have to keep in mind that Everyone has a different time to heal. I am probably more slow recovery person.

But the most improvement happened the last half year so from 2years+ on. I can hit the gym 3-4 times per week, Go for a walk, study but it’s pretty Hard sometimes, I can work, I have good orgasms and it sometimes feels really nice down there. But still no libido and erectyle dysfunction. But I hope that this will improve more as I read in a lot of stories that this was the last symptom to resolve.

I hope you can enjoy the weekend... and if not. Let time pass and just keep going.

Best,

Ben

Hi @Parisien,

it is good that you don't take the medication anymore. Stay away from it. You may heal, just give it time.

Unfortunately, I am now 5 months off my medication. Still no improvements. I have anhedonia and PSSD.

It feels like I am still taking Paxil. My anxiety was the reason why I started with that, but now my anxiety is also completely gone.

Meilleur,

Ben

Now when you have a discussion with someone you manage to concentrate and not have a blank stare and elsewhere?  You saw this change from how long.  Do you feel somewhat ready after 2 years as before?  Right now I'm fighting insomnia and jesseye to do everything to be well but it's complicated sometimes

salut@Parisien,

Hi, when you say 5 months off, did you stop gradually or suddenly like me?  Do you see improvements in other aspects such as sleep?  This feeling of rest after having slept.  Or even level of mood the joy of living etc.

I recognize everything you mention. Pain in my legs, hard to keep up conversations, no libido, shrunk and dead penis and so on. I’m in the middle when it comes to time, 12 months in. 6-9 months in was accute, almost impossible to read a bok and a constant pressure in my whole body. Lots of things have improved the last 3 months but still a long way to go. If I try to think sexual thoughts my legs starts to hurt and my entire CNS says NOOO!!! I can work, study and go for walks but I don’t do anything with joy in my soul. This better have a happy ending or it would be a complete tradegy…..so much harm for absolutely no reason.

Great to hear that you live an almost normal life @Ben190and that things have improved but it is also sad that you still suffer 2,5 years in….we don’t deserve this!

No my penis is still shrunk….my penis doesnt hurt anymore but it is still completely dead. No libido and no erections….I have given up sex for years to come…can’t even imagine that I can have sex again, ever….but maybe there will be a magic recovery or something 🤷‍♂️

I was very sexual active before all this and now I am impotent 39 years old…

I'm really sorry about that.  Stay hopeful one day I'm sure it will come back.  Could it be @Ben190 then?  Who said that his sex had shrunk and then regained its size before
