Glad to hear you're also doing well.

I'm much better than I was while fully medicated. Except that I'm living with damage to my teeth. :( Very happy to be done with the med. I always had it in mind that I'm not "off" until 12 months off, but I'm now over 7 months so I'm starting to feel quietly more confident.

@bubbles The Gabapentin taper is on hold for now.  My doctor is pushing me to taper prednisone and I have learned from this site to only taper one drug at a time. I am also pushing back to slow the taper of the prednisone.  For the moment it is all good. By the way, I love your monthly updates.

@RachelSusan

Can't comment on more than one drug at a time because I haven't done it, but doing one slowly sounds like a good idea to me.

Glad to hear the monthly updates aren't annoying! I wondered if they would be, but decided it was worthwhile for a couple of reasons. One is that I've always had it in mind that I'm not off until I've been off for a whole year so I'm still documenting until then. (It may be that I'm technically already there because I could probably have stopped 1-2 years prior, but who knows.) Secondly I think it's valuable to add to the body of evidence that is being built here, especially since people like me (extremely slow taper) are rare, so our data points aren't easily replaced.

Happy to hear all is going well. :)

@Rosetta   Yes. Well, clenched, rather than ground. I've done a lot of damage to my teeth. My dentist first flagged it when I was in my early 20s, years before SSRIs, but the SSRI made it worse and it was dose-related. I'm now dealing with the dental work needed.

I’m glad you’re doing okay, except for your cold @bubbles

Rest up and I hope your cold disappears soon, so many of my friends have viruses of all kinds at the moment.

Sending hugs your way🤗

A bit late, but 9 months off. Going fine.

Felt tired for a few weeks, and I'm still coughing, but otherwise over my cold. You can cough for weeks and week safter a cold, so I'm not worried, just annoyed.

Not much to report. I'm starting to feel confident that I've got off safely, but I always said not off until off for a year, so still three months to go.

2005 St John's Wort / 2006-2012 Lexapro 20mg, 2 failed attempts to stop, tapered over 4.5 months in early 2012

January 2013 started Sertraline, over time worked up to 100mg

July 2014 Sertraline dropped from 100mg to 75mg, held for six months, slower tapering until 2019 22 Dec 3.2mg

2020 Sertraline 19 Jan 3.1mg, 26 Jan 3.0mg; 1 Mar 2.9, 7 Mar 2.8, May (some drops here) 24 May 2.5, May 29 2.4, June 21 2.3, June 28 2.2mg,  July 4 2.1mg, July 24 (or maybe a bit before) 2mg, early Nov switched to home made suspension; 29 Nov 1.8mg; approx 25 Dec 1.6mg)

2021 Some time in about Jan/Feb realised probably on more like 1.8mg and poss mixing error in making suspension; doses after 10 Feb accurate; 10 Feb 1.6mg; 7 Mar 1.4, continued monthly

10% drops until 1mg, then dropped 0.1mg monthly.

May 2022,0.1mg, now dropping 0.01mg per week

29 August 2022 - first day of zero!

Hi everyone,

Somewhere along the way with my updates, I missed a month or made a calculation error and then continued the error. It turns out that instead of being at the 11 month mark, I'm actually a month ahead of where I thought I was. Today is the 12 month anniversary of my last dose of the SSRI.

Very brief summary. I've done well. There's been no withdrawal, but that was the point of the very protracted taper. My mood has been fine - normal. I've done well.

I'm shocked that the last year has gone so fast, but here we are! I've always said I wouldn't count myself as off until I'd been off for a years. As of today, I think I can now say I've successfully tapered and discontinued.

Cheers.

Congratulations, Bubble - what an amazing achievement!!  I am so glad you are doing well and didn't experience any withdrawal symptoms post-taper. 💖

-1/06 - 3/07 Cymbalta. Fast taper (essentially CT); withdrawal symptoms after 4 mos (didn't realize was WD)

-10/07: 100 mg Zoloft; 1 mg Klonopin - tapered off Klonopin after 4 mos. Several unsuccessful slow tapers of Zoloft; went up and down in dose a lot

-Spring 2013 back on 1 mg Klonopin to counter WD symptoms; switched over 5-6 mos from Zoloft to 35 mg citalopram
-Two attempts at slow tapering citalopram, always increased dose due to WD; also increased Klonopin to 1.25 mg in 2014, then to 1.5 mg in 2015

-8/17-9/17: After holding one year at 20 mg, feeling withdrawal symptoms due to stress - slowly increased to 25 mg. No change in symptoms after 6 months (? tolerance ?)  - decided to start citalopram taper February 2018 (still on Klonopin 1.5 mg).

Supplements: fish oil; magnesium; vitamin D3; curcumin

Citalopram taper:  2/2018 - 12/2019: 25 mg - 11.03 mg I 2020: 10.89 mg - 7.9 mg I 2021: 7.8 mg - 5.26 mg I 2022: 5.2 mg - 3.36 mg I 2023: 3.3 mg - 1.47 mg 2024: 1/5/24: 1.44 mg; 1/19/24: 1.40 mg; 1/26/24: 1.37 mg; 2/2/24: 1.34 mg; 2/9/24: 1.31 mg; 2/23/24: 1.28 mg; 3/1/24: 1.25 mg; 3/8/24: 1.22 mg; 3/15/24: 1.19 mg; 3/29/24: 1.17 mg; 4/5/24: 1.14 mg; 4/13/24: 1.11 mg; 4/20/24: 1.09 mg; 4/27/24: 1.06 mg

excellent news, Bubbles!

Currently taking Ramapril (blood pressure) 5 mg twice a day

Omeprazole 10 mg AM and 20 mg PM  (the taper has gone nowhere after the first cut)

Famotidine   once a day (and I still needs tums sometimes)

magnesium 200 mg at night

as of yesterday 2 fish oil capsules "EPA-DHA 1000"

off Lexapro as of 5/2018  - last dose had been 5 mg every other day for a couple years

highest dose had been 20 mg at which point I was diagnosed with Bipolar II, which went away when I cut the lexapro down to 15 mg.

I spent years on Paxil before Lexapro (can't remember dose), briefly on Effexor and Abilify and others I have forgotten. in fact, when I was diagnoses with BPII I was put on all kinds of things which made me feel so bad I stopped them cold turkey within maybe 3 or 4 weeks, thank goodness. since then I've known these pills were terrible and I weaned down the Lexapro with zero help or support over I'm not sure how many years.
