Luna0110: withdrawals from Zoloft

Recommended Posts

Hi! I just got off of Zoloft. I started in 2018 on 50mg, increased to 100mg, and then went onto 150mg where I have been since in 2020. I got off Zoloft over two weeks ago. I tapered for 1.5 months. My symptoms are dizziness, heart palpitations, fatigue, weakness, easily winded, mental fatigue. Walking even short distances is very hard so much so that I couldn’t commute to work and have had to work from home. I have been considering getting back on a small dose of Zoloft. What do you think?

2018 - started Zoloft at 50mg

2019 - increased Zoloft to 100mg

2020 - increased Zoloft to 150mg

June 2022 - started a 1.5 month taper off Zoloft

July 2022 - discontinued Zoloft completely

@Luna0110

Welcome to SA. We are a volunteer ran site helping people taper off psychiatric medications or have tapered off and are now healing.

This is your introduction page where you will receive information, ask questions and meet other members. We ask that you only create one introduction page so we can keep all your information in one place.

You tapered off Zoloft way to quickly. We don't suggest more than tapering 10% an month and some go much slower than that.

Why taper by 10% of my dosage?

Stability is really important when we are tapering off psych meds.  Please read the link about stability:

You could try a reinstatement of 1 mg. You would hold for 7-10 days as that is how long it takes to reach full stability in your system. Then the dose could always be adjusted. You want to start out slow because it is easier to updose than it is to taper off quickly as you know.

We don't suggest supplements on here as they can be stimulating to the central nervous system (CNS), but we do suggest two that have been found to be calming. If you want to try one try a small amount and wait a few days before introducing the other.

Thanks @Frogie....my psychiatrist says that the lowest dose I can go back on is 25mg. I've consulted my doctor too, and he says the same. How do you get onto 1mg when no one will prescribe 1mg?? Am I missing something?
