I am a 70 year old man who has been on Zoloft for about 25 years and wants out . I take 100mg daily and I do not trust my current medical practioner to help me to finally get clean.

Welcome @Steveeeej

So the moderators can best help you, please complete your drug signature by following these instructions. Adding a signature ensures your drug history appears at the bottom of every post, making it more efficient for those trying to assist.

As a starting point, please have a read of this: Why taper by 10% of my dosage?

Have you seen this link:

Do you feel stable now? When you taper, you may experience WD symptoms: Daily Checklist of Antidepressant Withdrawal Symptoms (PDF)

Recoveries from ADs seem to take a Windows and waves pattern of stabilization

These are some good coping strategies:

Emotional Spirals

Non-drug coping strategies

We don't suggest many supplements, but two that many of us find helpful are magnesium and omega-3 fish oil. Here are the links for info about those. Add one at a time and start with a low dose to see how it affects you.

Magnesium

Omega-3 fatty acids (fish oil)

Avoid alcohol.

Please see the link below, which has some recommended doctors on the East Coast of the USA. I'm not in USA, so I am not sure how close any of them are to you. I hope this helps.
