Do you think it would be a bad idea to use antihistamines?

Do you think these symptoms are from allergies?  If they aren't from allergies than an antihistamine won't help.

I was told antidepressants were founded from antihistamines, if true, it potentially could make you feel worse, but maybe not.

I'm not an expert, I can only share my own experience.  If you do feel worse, it will eventually pass.

Early on in my withdrawal I was very sensitive to processed foods and had to eat an anti inflammatory diet.  It didn't make me recover quicker but eased a few of my symptoms. I'm still not recovered completely and it is over 5 years since this started.

Effexor 2008 - 2017 37.5 Mg . Upped to 150 mg on 2017.  November of 2017 to March 2018 went from 150 mg to 0.

Ativan May 2018 started 1 - 2 mg daily stayed at 1mg Sept 2018. 03/9/19 .975mg, 03/16 .950mg, 04/13 .94, 04/20 .93, 04/27 .916 slowly tapered from April to  August 2019 at .77mg,  December 2020 .10mg, Jan 2021 0.0 MG

Valium June 2018 started 10 mg currently 2.5 mg daily, September 2021 0.0 mg

Trazadone started March 2018 100 mg at night to sleep Oct 16, 2018 went to 75 mg , November 13, 2018 67.5 mg, Dec 11 60.75 mg, January 21, 2019  54 mg, 02/09 50 mg, March 2022 0.0 mg

Six Ketamine treatments September 2018.  2 treatments a week for 3 weeks

Completely drug free as of March 2022

At this point I think the withdrawals are mimicking seasonal allergies but I do need to figure out something to unblock my nose.

If ad’s are similar to any med that would help with it then I’m worried that it will agitate my nervous system.  All of this sucks!

12-22 50mg 4/5/23 - 47mg 4/16 - 40 mg 6/27/23-35mg, 4/15/24 33mg

It does suck but it gets better.  While I still have symptoms, they are much milder and I can function more and participate in life, but it has been a long journey.

What you could try is a Netti Pot. Rinse your sinuses with saline solution.  My husband uses that with his allergies and it may help you.  You can get them at any pharmacy.

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your sinuses. I have a post about this under symptoms and self-care that talks about it. There is a thing called non-allergic rhinitis. It often gets diagnosed as allergies but once allergy testing gets done they will turn up negative. Allergy medicines won't help it. It is actually a nervous system response. Instead of allergens you may be hypersensitive to irritants like pollution and dust and anything else that may be in the atmosphere. Since you're in withdrawal and your nervous system is hypersensitive right now it may be overreacting to various components of the atmosphere and triggering symptoms that mimic allergies. I'm not a doctor and can't say for sure this is what is happening but it is certainly a possibility as I go through the same thing. I use saline nasal spray to keep my sinuses clear of contaminants and it helps quite a lot. If it's really bad you can on occasion use Afrin nasal spray but you don't want to use that everyday because you quickly build up a tolerance and it can make it worse but in a pinch if you need a night's sleep it works for me.
