I did a too-fast taper in 2013 , and the symptoms didn't get really bad until 6 months after it finished. And it was all downhill from there. Dreadful. So I see your reinstatement as a solid move that may save you months of suffering. Your job now is , once again , to sit tight (and wait for the magic to happen , lol). You're going to get better from this , it isn't a permanent thing. Started pristiq 50mg. Felt improvement within days and continued to improve, so stayed on 50mg for 8 months. Began taper 28 Feb. 2015. Pristiq 50mg down to 45mg. Had one month of w/d symptoms. Flowers 15 yrs on 20 to 30 mgs CITALOPRAM. MAY 2014 Increased to 40 mgs per day.SEPT/NOV 2014 tapered in 6 weeks down to 10 mgs as per Dr instructions due to violent nightmares/palpitations.Given Noctamid (lormetazepam) to help with anxiety. On average took 2mg per day for 8 weeks.No taper was advised.DEC 2014 WD severe. Nervous tic in eyes and limbs, muscle pain,fluct temp, weakness, dep and anxiety, nausea, giddy, unstable when walking. Different Dr suggested taking 20mgs CIT. BROMAZEPAM 3mgs up to 3 x daily for anxiety.DEC 9 2014 Updose CIT to 30mgs. Only taking BROMAZEPAM in emergency.DEC 31 2014 Settling at 30mg CIT - helping with depression. No Brom for 2wks.Found SA.APR 2015 Trying to stabilise on 30mgs CIT. JAN 2016 Started Cit Taper reducing by 5% per month. 28.5 mgs FEB Taper held bereavement. APR Taper resumed 27mgs . The diazepam wants you back in its grip, IMO. That's the main issue. You've been benzo free for 3 months, am I right? I hope your updosing of amitryptyline to 10 mg works for you. Hospitalized for the 1st and 2nd time (out of 3). 1999-2002: Prozac 20 mg. Stopped due to severe anxiety. Increased benzo consumption. 2003-2005: AD free (therapy). Feeling good, started working. Persisted 9 yrs in full-time job. 2005-2007: Ixel (milnacipran). SNRI. 2007-2011: Lexapro 10-15 mg. Fatigue and anxiety. Mania. Insomnia. Acne. Shopoholism. Polydrugging with different meds. 2011-2013: Effexor 37,5-150 mg (mostly 75 mg). SNRI. Fatigue and depression, terrible acne with scars, now gone. April 2013: Wellbutrin 150 mg. Hot flashes, extreme appetite, aggression. May 2013 - May 2014: Prozac - from 10 mg to 0 mg, very harsh taper. Functioning great but EXTREME ANXIETY. From May 2014: tried different ADs to replace Prozac, nothing worked, terrible side effects (Seroxat, Zoloft, Luvox, Brintellix, Doxepin, Trazodone). May 2014 back to benzos (Valium) in hope of improvement, aggravated depression and anxiety. Sept. 2014: Lexapro 2,5 mg, highest dose 5 mg for 1,5 months (Spring 2015). Steady decline, anxiety, fatigue. Diagnosed with OCD, dysthymia, social phobia, anxiety disorder, insomnia, eating disorder (first bulimia, then anorexia). I'm doing well , but seem to be having a non-sleeping night (I dozed off for an hour but am still up at 3am). Not to worry. Chances are I'll be asleep by 5. I do have a lot on my mind - I sold my pickled veggies at the local farmer's market on saturday and it could become a regular thing. This is exciting cause it's been years since I was able to work. The lower my dose of ad's gets , the easier it is to function. And my mood is good. Or to awake after 1-2 hrs sleep in pure terror. These are the benzos claiming you back. If you went back on Zoloft, the anxiety would be unbearable and this could lead you back to benzos. For sleep, I would recommend "Relax into Sleep Guided Meditation" by Meditation Oasis, I will try to send you the link: http://www.meditationoasis.com/podcast/listen-to-podcast/ It's number 50 on the list of meditations, you could listen to it on your Iphone or Smartphone while trying to fall asleep. You could also try L-theanine, it acts on the GABA system. Search supplements with L-theanine in the UK. In my country, there are good tabs containing L-theanine and hops. They help with sleep. When I quit benzos in Jan. 2003 for 11 yrs, I went to AA meetings. Benzos and alcohol act on the same GABA receptors in the brain. Have you read Ashton Manual? Prof. Heather Ashton is an expert on benzos. She writes about how the prolonged benzo use causes other neurotransmitters in the brain to deplete (dopamine, noradrenaline, serotonin). It takes a long time to heal. I screwed my benzo withdrawal in May last year, it is the worst thing one can do. You could also browse the benzobuddies community posts. To remind you of the hell ppl are going through. I am struggling terribly on 1,25 mg Lexapro and the benzos only aggravate my depression, apathy and fears. I know. You are in my thoughts remember. I have a friend who was on Saphris and had the exact same problem. He then did a too fast taper and continued to have numerous scary "breathing incidents." He is much better now, but I just wanted to add my two cents about some of the symptoms you're experiencing. Hang in there. These drugs do a lot of bad stuff to us but you are more than half way there in terms of being med free. Peace and blessings to you. 2001-04 Polypharmacy to include Paxil,Celexa, Risperdal, Seroquel, Depakote, Ambien, Geodon, Valium, Ativan, Haldol 03/04-11/04 Abilify 11/04-05/07 CT Abilify Non symptomatic 6/07 took Valium, began to experience altered reality and physical symptoms of withdrawal from Valium. 07/08. Abilify 2 mg, 12/08 Abilify 1 mg, 03/09 Abilify 0 mg, 03/08-06/11Altered reality but fully functional 10/12 hospitalized, Invega Depot, 2 shots discontinued, severe insomnia 6/14-10/14 flexeril, discontinued, developed insomnia; 10/14 10 mg Doxepin I week, no help with insomnia; 10/14 Remeron for two days, paradoxical reaction Present Risperdal 1mg, clonazepam 2 mg, Restoril 15 mg. Went from .5 to 1 to 1.5 to 2mg of clonazepam in 2014. Also in 2014, tapered from 2 mg risperdal to 1.5 (fairly slowly but still too fast) and had to up dose back to 2 mg. Frequent awakenings, unable to get to sleep again... And I'm on benzos, remember? If you went back, it would be much worse. Benzos are your "cunning, baffling and powerful enemy" (Big Book by AA). They are waiting to get you back. Till the end of your life. Used to listen to "Red Hill Mining Town" by U2 recently. Check it out if you can. It's an oldie but goodie. I'm trying L- Arginine at the moment and I'm quietly confident. I'll keep you posted ! Many SSRI's and SSNRI's over 20 years. Zoloft for 7 years followed by Effexor, Lexapro, Prozac, Cymbalta, Celexa, Pristiq, Valdoxan, Mianserin and more - on and off. No tapering.
