I currently take 2 pills both 25mg.. I cut from one of the pills. How do I figure % for one of pills?

Ok so I currently take the weight of my cut 25mg pill and whole 25mg. Weigh them both.

 

Take the weight and get % I want.

 

My question is how do I cut from my cut pill?

 

Say they both weight

 

.127 whole 25mg pill

 

.100 for cut pill

 

.100+.127=.227

 

1% is .00227

 

So I can take that off my already cut pill correct? Basically I can keep cutting the one pill correct?

In a previous post I see you mentioned 10% of 43.75mg is 4.4mg

 

But the mg of what the bottle says is not the same as the weight? Aren't we using the weight?

The pills weigh more than the dose on the bottle because of non-active ingredients required to make the pill itself, binders and fillers.

 

If you're doing this using a digital scale, you track 2 weights: the weight of the pill and the dosage of the active ingredient in mg. The dosage of active ingredient is more important to your body and CNS (central nervous system). The pill weight is a tool to get calculate the dose.

 

Your scale measures grams. Everything to the left of the decimal is a gram, the 3 digits to the right are milligrams.  So a scale reading of

• 1.200 is 1.2 g (grams) or 1200 mg
• 0.500 is 0.5 g or 500 mg
• 0.127 is 0.127 g or 127 mg

Your scale has measured a 25 mg dose pill as weighing 127 mg.

127 mg pill weight (mgpw) = 25 mg active ingredient (mgai)

 

If you're taking one entire pill (127 mgpw) and a partial one with 100mgpw for a total of 227 mgpw. This equals 44.7 mgai (mg active ingredient, i.e. fluvoxamine)

 

If you want to do a 10% reduction from your current dose of 44.7 mgai = 227 mgpw, you would reduce the pill weight by 22.7, to get a total pill weight of 204 mg, 127 mg from one complete pill and 77 mg from a cut pill.

 

This 204 mgpw equals a dose of 40.2 mg fluvoxamine (mgai)

 

Your calculations are correct for a 1% reduction: 1% of 227 mgpw is 2.27 mg. Your scale can't weigh hundredths of a mg precisely, unless you spent over $1500 on it. Your best bet is to either reduce by 2 mg or by 3 mg, 0.002 or 0.003 respectively on the scale.

 

Yes just cut one pill and leave the other one intact. When you get below 25 mg you'll only take one partial pill of fluvoxamine.
