Is there someone who struggled with sensitivities to all supplements? Im 9 months into withdrawal, Im on 8,5mg amitryptyline. I dont tolerare any single supplement beside mag oil topicaly, is it something that will improve with time? Also foods high im vit c and high in probiotics trigger me. My worst symptoms is akathisia, then tinnitus and weird head symptoms and anxiety with depression.

12.2017-02.2018 Mirtazapine - started adverse reactions after 2 months use and stopped without problems

04.2018 Amitryptyline 25mg

07.2019 Stopping Amitryptyline and starting Escitalopram 10 mg, stopping after a week and coming back to Amitryptyline

01.2020 starting Amitryptyline withdrawal, after a month of too fast tapper (from 25mg to 10mg) developed migraines, didnt connect the dots.

02.2020 went to ER with migraine, got IV torecan and developed severe akathisia (severe restless feeling throughout the body, panic, constant fear) and landed in psych ward. 4 days on benzos, Duoleksetine for 3 days, then back on Ami 30mg. Was stable, symptom free

03.2020 coming home and started Amitryptyline withdrawal again. I wasnt aware of need of slow tappering, psych alway told me to cut in half for few days. Decided to do it slower then she recommended, but it was still too fast.Cut to 20mg when got home (so was on 30mg just a week).

04.2020 Cut to 15mg. Felt amazing for a week, then cut to 13,5mg. Felt amazing another week. Cut to 12mg. After a week developed migraines again. Then connected dots that they are withdrawal migraines. Tried to up my doze again cause migraines were severe. Took 15 mg and got adverse reaction, akathisia came back, had jerking brain zaps all night long, didnt sleep. Next day took 12 mg again.

Since then (25.04.2020) Im on 12mg again.

26.04.2020 added propranolol cause akathisia was too severe 10mg 2 times a day. 08.05 still on 12mg amitryptyline, upped propranolol to 10mg 3 times a day cause yesterday akatisia hit out of nowhere very severe, wanted to got o hospital afraid of my life. 31.05 goes to 11mg. 08.07 goes to 10mg. 22.07 bullyeyes rash, infected with Lyme. 20.08 goes to 9mg. 14.10 goes to 8,5mg. After hospital stay with my daughter (15.11) started feeling worse, reacting to citrus fruits with extreme weakness and panic. Getting more symptoms. 12.2 as I wasnt feeling better decided to reduce to 8mg. No change for better or worse. 23.3 started 10 mg propranolol two times a day. 30.04 reduced propr to 15 mg. 05.05 went to 7,5mg Ami. 23.06 went to 7mg Ami. 22.08 6,5mg Ami. 20.12 6mg Ami. 12.2 5,4mg Ami. Still reacting to chemicals, foods.

I assume you tried the particular supplements you need for those conditions?

I couldn't handle most supplements for a while, but I needed one to help digest food and handled it okay.

After considerable recovery, I'm now able to handle a number more.

I had severe nausea and slow gut motility for many years & ginger gravol and/or fresh ginger tea was very helpful during those times. The ginger gravol tablets have no other ingredients that will trigger withdrawal, unlike regular gravol.

2009-2018: 15mg Celexa

June 2018-January 2019: .5mg-1mg Ativan

2010-June 2021: Marvelon (Birth Control)

September 2018-December 2021: Prozac reinstated 1mg (.25ml) April 21st 2019 , updosed to .32ml June 19, 2019 & started taper in October 2019.

Thank You, I will try it, but last time I tried fresh ginger I reacted to it. It works on serotonin receptors.

Acupressure can help nausea.  Don't know how well it would work if you have actual vomiting too, might not work then, but, you can get bands that go on your wrist and press on the relevant acupressure point (so you don't have to hold it down continuously with your finger.)  At least it's something you can try that's not likely to make the situation worse.  :)

Essential oils can be pretty powerful even without having an issue from psych drugs. I tried one way back when before I had reactions to pills, and it actually burned my skin. Didn't help me at all. I used to spend a lot of time reading about herbs and found some herbalists won't recommend them.

I have great essential oils specificaly for my stomach problems but they are triggering akathisia.

Wrist bands wasnt helping at all but Im thinking about one that is sending electrical impulses through this acupuncture places. I realy tried I think everything and everything was triggering or not helping.

Sorry nothing is working for you Wania. I didn't realize you had tried the acupressure points.  Akathisia is so hard to deal with (I had it too.)  I'm trying to think of anything else I've come across that helps nausea.

The terror is the worst part, for sure.  I had it too.  It will get better.  I wish there was some suggestion I could give you to make it leave faster.  There is a yoga position that gets talked about around here which can help with feelings of terror, but hard to do of course if you can't sit still.

I found the discussion where it's mentioned:

There is a link I believe in there that shows the position.  I don't know how feasible it'll be if you are having a lot of difficulty being able to sit still though.

I know it's listed as for pain, but she mentions it helps with terror too.  I found it helpful for terror, like you pain was not an issue for me.

• 4 weeks later...

I thought I was crazy but tested and tested and tested and I cannot take any suplements. The worst is Vit D and I am deficient in it. I found tons of people online having the same issue. I can take magnesium through my skin also, was such a relief.

Since I started Prozac I can t take anything, I go nuts and I was a person living on pills, was having daily at least one, periods of 15 pills a day due to my conditions.

Then my doctor suggested that I might have an intolerance to excipients. I get the worst anxiety on them after 3 4 days and it takes me a week to recover. My husband practically threw them out.

Anyone like this? I eat like crap, wish  I could supplement.

JUNE 2019 Tried Coaxil ,wellbutrin, cipralex, mirtazapine, effexor, sertraline, benzoS for 5 months.November 2019 started prozac 30 mg, took till May 2020 and started tapering 5 mg at a time till reached 2.5mg once every 2 3 days.January 2020 stopped benzos (tapered for 2 months).27 December 2020 stopped Prozac, 2 bad weeks.January and  february was feeling well.I am taking 2 mg of lorazepam /year.Tried 5Htp 100mg Febr 2020 for a copule of days, vomited non stop. Stopped right away.No supplements, possibly allergic to excipients now. 30 mg of Ulipristil acetate on 25th of febr.

Reinstated 0.4 mg of prozac 12 march  , had 0.2mg 13 march. Stopped reinstatement, feeling better.

I don't understand this reactions, I'm sure it's because nervous system is destabilized, but I read most people tolerate supplements anyway in withdrawal so I don't get it.

I was the same on Prozac . I'm pretty sure it's the antidepressants. Maybe they made the brain more "permeable" somehow.

Those psych meds can cause that. For me it was one dose antipsychotic when all this started. How long have You been dealing with it?

Two years, can't tell witch one has the blame since tried many at first. You have a point, always thought it's  the prozac but maybe something did start it. We have cipralex and mirtazapine in common and akathisia and migranes. Who knows..

For me it started right after adverse reaction to antipsychotic, one doze for nausea. But I dont know if it even matter. I wonder if it will improve anytime. Do You tolerate any supplement currently?
