DMV64
@manymoretodays @JanCarolI do want to start the water dissolve taper part of Saphris now and just hold it through vacation then drop again when I get home. I have to look back to see exactly what JanCarol told me to do. Pretty sure it was dissolve in 5ML and take 2ML, which seems like a lot actually since right now I am only taking 10 of a weight of 25. Moderator Emeritus manymoretodays Posted December 5, 2018 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted December 5, 2018 Sounds good to me DMV64, HOLD while traveling. No changes. Also......you are how far out now, since the onset of bronchitis to pneumonia, and additional medications? As it turns out DMV, you are going to need to dilute your Saphris wafer in more than 5 mL of water. Otherwise the mL for your present dose of 0.1 mgai will be so miniscule, it will be impossible to hold in your mouth, under your tongue for any amount of time I think, like any other cross over........you should stick to your present dose of 0.1 mgai too BEFORE tapering. Let me know when you are back from travel. And no, I don't want you to start until you are back from your holiday vacation, of sorts. To the other sunny retiree and relax, state in the U.S. of A., with beaches, and warmer temperatures. There may be symptoms no matter what you do, when we make this crossover, so I would rather have you at your home base, when you start it. Not trying to sit on pity pot but well, maybe I am anyway. Could be just the winter blues DMV. And you are still recovering from bronchitis that went to pneumonia. I don't know much on the weather there right now.......it's cold here. And daylight is over before I'm ready each day. Snowy....but cold here. Some sunshine though. Walks are warm. The pool seems cold but my sauna after is great! And I may hit the slopes before the New Year, ski. You could try and find a PM buddy and/or look on the FB page, you'd have to join I imagine, to post there and read all the comments. Have you considered just reading when you are here. Exploring a bit. One doesn't have to chat, chat to be here.........just exude strength and positive energy or something. I know you have mentioned visual problems. I'm still moving between 3 pairs of glasses myself and a bit limited with screen time now. Back to the optometrist I go......today or tomorrow. I've got to make copies and submit all my paper work too, to insurance, so I can get at least some reimbursement eventually for the costs out of my pocket. Fun, fun, fun!!! Oh well! Yes.....maybe you are a bit bored and going to self pity. I don't know why.......it happens. Get your Saphris wafer, chopped and weighed.......so you don't have to be calibrating and balancing your scale. And the rest of your meds set up until you get back. .......best I can do on the chit, chat and a bit more information for you. Moderator Emeritus manymoretodays Posted December 5, 2018 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted December 5, 2018 mgai = milligrams of active ingredient. I think you are fine..... If you are always sticking with a dose that weighs 0.10 grams on your scale. That's what you reported last. So.....no worries on that. Hey.....from what I see, you will wind up with a really small amount of water. The issue was around how long to hold it under your tongue, without letting it absorb too quickly sublingual. I know I had asked you once how long you held your present dose, under your tongue, before you felt it had absorbed. There's some information in the literature regarding the sublingual absorption. I don't think it's here, on your thread. I don't think you answered on that. I was looking for a comparison. JC's instructions were tips on how to hold the liquid in your mouth, for as long as you could. So.......when you get to a desktop or before........scroll on back for that post. Over and out. Because I think it one point JanCarol or maybe it was brass monkey had said that it was best to have a really small amount of water to hold so it would be easier to hold it without swallowing because swallowing it reduces it to like 4% of the dose. DMV64
@ShepBENZO FREAK OUT. In IOP today I heard horror stories about people in the hospital at the end even after a "slow" taper with a doc. Even group leader said basically I will suffer. It just made me feel so hopeless. I am already struggling like most of us here. I want to believe I can get off Benzo too. Rosetta
Dmv, remember that the people said "slow taper with a doctor." It was probably not slow enough, and I greatly doubt the doctor let the person slow down when that was indicated by the symptoms. Especially near the end when the doses are small it seems that SA says slow down, it's not a race, it doesn't matter how long it takes, but doctors are often said to get impatient. That's the difference. https://www.survivingantidepressants.org/topic/16629-rosetta-ct-may-2011-too-fast-taper-feb-2017/?page=25 2001-2011 Celexa 10 mg raised to 40 mg then 60 mg over this time period May 2011 OB Doctor's Cold switch Celexa 60 mg to 10 mg Zoloft sertraline (baby born) 2012-2016 - Doctors raised dose of Zoloft up to 150 mg 2016 - Xanax prescribed - as needed - 0.5 mg about every 3 days (bad reaction) 2016 - Stopped Xanax Late 2016- Began (too fast) taper of Zoloft Early 2017 - Trazodone prescribed for bedtime (doseage unknown) Feb 2017 - Completed taper/stopped Trazodone Drug free since Feb 2017 2017 - Unisom otc very rarely for sleep Link to comment
DMV64
Thanks Rosetta. It is good reminder. I just felt like “there’s no way out of this” when I was there. Like I should check myself in for a detox. One doc had mentioned a 9 day program. I know that’s way too fast but it’s so hard with all these symptoms and I haven’t even started the benzo yet. I don't get why you would do a decrease right now........??? 😧 🤓 (bewilderment, concern faces) From the information that you have supplied, here's what I've got with the Math/Maths/Calculations. Some important terms are included, or abbreviations of terms, as well as how to report what you are doing. MGAI: milligrams active ingredient: mgai. This refers to the entire dose strength listed on the box or bottle from the pharmacy or the doctor who supplies you. At present I am assuming you are using a 2.5 mgai pill/tablet. Further down, in this post, I've calculated what you are presently taking in dose strength mgai, based on the weight of your pill/tablet now. Capsules may be best defined as pill/tablet + fillers enclosed in an actual capsule. Some pill/tablets are large ovals. Let's not refer to those as capsules. MGPW: milligrams pill weight: mgpw. This represents the physical weight of your dose. It starts as the full weight of your pill/tablet but decreases as a person tapers, when using a scale to determine weights. AIC: Active Ingredient Concentration. This represents a ratio of how much active ingrediant is in a set amount of each pill/tablet. For the ease of calculation, when weighing, that set amount is based at 1.0 mgpw. So.......assuming that you got an average pill weight of .025 gram on your scale for your 2.5 mgai dose strength pill/tablet. .025 grams of pill weight : 25mgpw 2.5mgai/divided by 25= 0.1 mgai/1 mgpw The .010 you reported on your scale : 10mgpw (And good job on referring to that weight in words. You stated: dry dose weight) 10 mgpw X(multiplied) by 0.1 mgai = 1 mgai for your dose, when the weight on your scale reads .010. I'm assuming you are using a Gemini 20 scale that gives a read out in grams. Now you are reporting taking a .009 gram weight of your dose. I used gram weight instead of dry dose weight here. 9mgpw X 0.1 mgai = 0.9 mgai for your present dose. Please use Account Settings and update your signature with your recent 10% decrease. You made that change yesterday? Just note the dose in mgai please. You are presently taking 0.9 mgai Saphris. Which, by the way, was a 10% decrease from your previous dose of 1 mgai. You just tapered by 10% I hope it all works out well in the next 4-6 weeks for you. This is how that works: .010 multiplied by .90 = .009 dry weight .009 dry weight or grams : 9mgpw : 0.9 mgai at present So, there is the math/maths you asked for. All for now. L, P, H, and G, mmt Edited December 31, 2018 by manymoretodays please report dosages in mgai instead of grams Late 2023- gone to emeritus status, inactive, don't @ me, I can check who I've posted on, and I'm not really here like I used to be......thanks. DMV64
Also went to see in integrative medicine doctor a number of weeks ago. He took a lot of blood. He increased my estrogen after the blood came back since he said it was low. He also recommended that I take zinc because my zinc to copper ratio was off and CO Q 10 -other people had mentioned Coq10 but I don’t know what it’s really supposed to do.
