Sottana
@LongroadhomeI was holding to stabilize on ten and i don’t know if could handle another dose change to liquid right now. I’m also on paroxetine and not Paxil, so that would kind of be a double change Feeling pretty down and discouraged. How are you? 2008: start Lexapro 10 mg which is quickly upped to 20 mg. 2008:2013 try at least four individual times to get off Lexapro, never get lower than 5mg, settle at 15 mg. 2015: again, attempt to get off Lexapro and get to 5 mg. Sottana
@Longroadhome I’m feeling really bad still. I still have akathisia for most of the day. I have had some stress outside of wd as well. I don’t feel ready to taper at all. I’d like to give myself a real attempt at stabilizing before I go back to that. I just got really triggered by what this person said about dosing variability. 2008: start Lexapro 10 mg which is quickly upped to 20 mg. 2008:2013 try at least four individual times to get off Lexapro, never get lower than 5mg, settle at 15 mg. 2015: again, attempt to get off Lexapro and get to 5 mg. Sebas
Paroxetine and Paxil are the same aren't they? There's no such variability in dosing unless you are shaving and breaking your pills. Indeed in the near future you better switch to liquid after current (longer) hold. By means of a gradual transition. * 3/4 dose old, 1/4 dose new for 3-7 days * 50/50 for 3-7 days * 1/4 dose old, 3/4 dose new for 3-7 days * switch to 100% liquid * Brush teeth after liquid and take with some food. First take time and give CNS some recovery time. There should be no hurry. 45 years old male job in spatial planning into sports, animals and nature Started using 20 mg Paroxetine (Paxil) in 2004 for stressrelated anxiety/depression Attempted several times to stop, starting a few years after 2004 Found out in 2015 about paxil withdrawal symptoms and the 5-10% taper guideline Started using liquid paxil in 2015/2016 2018 --> 11.2 mg of paxil 2019-2023 developed severe food- and other sensitivities (anti imflammatory, anti oxidant, food colourings, oils, herbs, chemicals etc.) 12/2023 Poop-out/tolerance, introducing brassmonkey slide method 0.1mg/week 26/1/2024 10 mg (journey halfway). Longroadhome
Hi @Sottana ok, so if I were you and you have had no relief in 4 months from Akathisia, I would recommence my taper. souim
Hi, I made the switch to liquid paroxetine before I started tapering in January. For me, I had a few symptoms after that (especially one bad night, with sweating and strong heartbeat and just a general feeling of "something is wrong") but they only lasted for a few days. I held my original dosage for about two weeks after the switch, before I started tapering. I don't know if I'm as sensitive as you are. For now my symptoms are not too severe, but I'm still at the beginning of my taper. I did have an incredibly hard time starting the medication, with tons of nearly insufferable side effects, which disappeared gradually after about three weeks. Everyone has different responses anyway... I wish you luck and courage on your tapering journey ! December 2020 : got prescribed 20 mg paroxetine (paxil) for an anxiety disorder Tried tapering in July 2021 by taking 20 mg every other day and failed. Started tapering with the 10% method in January 2022 and switched to an oral suspension. 20 mg = 10 ml Turned out to be a bit hard. Continuing with 5% drops approx. 25 January 2022 : 9 ml / 24 February 2022 : 8,1 ml / 06 April 2022 : 7,3 ml / 2 June 2022 : 7 ml / 11 July 2022 : 6,5 ml / 09 August 2022 : 6,3 ml / 26 August 2022 : 6 ml / 18 Septembre 2022 : 5,8 ml / 17 December 2022 : 5,7 ml / 04 January 2023 : 5,6 / 17 January 2023 : 5,5 Xanax from december 2020 to January 2021 / Omeprazol on and off for GERD since december 2020 : 20 mg / Birth control pill since february 2021. Sebas
Heres a recommended switch method: 1st week: 3/4 dose old, 1/4 dose liquid 2nd week: 50/50 3rd week: 1/4 old, 3/4 liquid 4th week: completely switch to liquid Also---> Drink some water after liquid, brush teeth well (cause of sweet additive), eat and drink something just before or after (before brushing teeth of course) Switch from a stabilised situation (not during wd). Good luck 😉 45 years old male job in spatial planning into sports, animals and nature Started using 20 mg Paroxetine (Paxil) in 2004 for stressrelated anxiety/depression Attempted several times to stop, starting a few years after 2004 Found out in 2015 about paxil withdrawal symptoms and the 5-10% taper guideline Started using liquid paxil in 2015/2016 2018 --> 11.2 mg of paxil 2019-2023 developed severe food- and other sensitivities (anti imflammatory, anti oxidant, food colourings, oils, herbs, chemicals etc.) 12/2023 Poop-out/tolerance, introducing brassmonkey slide method 0.1mg/week 26/1/2024 10 mg (journey halfway). Mentor Heath Posted March 23, 2022 Mentor Share Posted March 23, 2022 Hello @Sottana I cross over to liquid in 2020 slowly as Sebas described BUT I didn’t hold for a month after that transition so I ended up in a wave and updosed a little then held for several months. There may have been other factors that contributed to wave I don’t know, I hadn’t much practice in listening to my body and wd symptoms at that time. I strongly suggest at least a month hold after the transition. This is good info and instructions for transitioning type and brand drug. 2000-2013 Paxil - 1 year fast taper 2013-2018 merry go round zoloft, cymbalta, lamictal, Prozac. Mentor Heath Posted March 23, 2022 Mentor Share Posted March 23, 2022 Also be sure and have a 10 ml syringe, 5 ml syringe, and a 1 ml syringe available so you can get you daily dosage. Some liquid ssris come in 1 to 1 ratio and some come in a 10mg to 5 ml ratio. try to get 1 to 1 if you can but if you can’t no big deal just a little more simplified. and make sure you and dr and pharmacy all know what the script is and what you are getting. Some drs aren’t used to righting liquid scripts, so double check everything. Liquid makes tapering so much easier and you will be more confident in your taper! Sottana
@souim @Longroadhome @Sebas @Heath Sorry for taking so long to respond. I appreciate all of your thoughtful replies. I’ve decided the safest option for me is to just use my scale and weigh the pills I have. I’ve found the more changes I make, the rockier things have gotten for me. I have started the last and probably longest leg of this journey off paroxetine. Positive words and encouragement always welcome 2008: start Lexapro 10 mg which is quickly upped to 20 mg. 2008:2013 try at least four individual times to get off Lexapro, never get lower than 5mg, settle at 15 mg. 2015: again, attempt to get off Lexapro and get to 5 mg. After 6 months, feel i'm stabilizing but go back on a higher dose because of one stressful event. 2016: go to 20 mg from 15 mg due to work stresses, hit severe tolerance for the first time and become very suicidal. 2016-2017: try viibryd and cymbata in an attempt to feel better. Also add Lamictal 150 at some point. 2017: eventually land on paxil 37.5 and Lamictal 150. January 2018: cut paxil to 25. April-July 2018: reduce Lamictal in 50 mg increments till im off August. 2018: reduce paxil to 20 mg. december 2018: dropped Paxil to 18 mg, SEVERE CRASH. Longroadhome
Sorry you’re feeling low. Try not to feel too deflated, it’s such a common WD symptom. I find I can feel hopeless and overwhelmed often and just when I think I can’t take another day of it, I’ll have a more tolerable one. And so it goes on.. The best advice I have is Just keep going. No matter how bad you feel just keep slowly tapering and take strength from the fact you’re putting less and less of this poison in your system. Well done on your cut. Keep going . Just keep going. I'm up and down. Today has been very manageable after a very symptomatic week. I’m grateful. Thank you for asking . 1 Nov 2018 Pregabalin 2x50 mg a day to help with Paxil WD. wantrelief
I am sorry you are feeling low today, @Sottana....it is hard not to feel that way in WD when you have been feeling lousy for so long. You are doing really well with your taper - look at how far you've come! You have a lot of courage. -1/06 - 3/07 Cymbalta. Fast taper (essentially CT); withdrawal symptoms after 4 mos (didn't realize was WD) -10/07: 100 mg Zoloft; 1 mg Klonopin - tapered off Klonopin after 4 mos. Several unsuccessful slow tapers of Zoloft; went up and down in dose a lot -Spring 2013 back on 1 mg Klonopin to counter WD symptoms; switched over 5-6 mos from Zoloft to 35 mg citalopram -Two attempts at slow tapering citalopram, always increased dose due to WD; also increased Klonopin to 1.25 mg in 2014, then to 1.5 mg in 2015 -8/17-9/17: After holding one year at 20 mg, feeling withdrawal symptoms due to stress - slowly increased to 25 mg. No change in symptoms after 6 months (? tolerance ?) - decided to start citalopram taper February 2018 (still on Klonopin 1.5 mg). Longroadhome
I think some of us are symptomatic all through tapering no matter what. And that’s me and you, unfortunately. Do consider micro tapering if things get too bumpy on the way down. You would probably have to go to liquid tapering. I have a 1 ml syringe that goes from 0 to 10, with 10 notches in between each number. This has allowed me to micro taper with relative ease so far. I can give you more info about the syringes if you decide, make and where to buy etc I know how you feel regarding endless tapering. But please remember you are now taking under half the amount you were at the beginning. This is positive. I think with how symptomatic I am that even when completely free it’s going to take time for my CNS to recover. and I still have a small amount of pregabalin to taper off after this. But I firmly believe it’s Paxil that’s done the damage. Just keep going . Never give up the desire to be drug free. Ever. You will get there. 1 Nov 2018 Pregabalin 2x50 mg a day to help with Paxil WD.
