Hi everyone. I need some guidance or anyone’s thoughts on this. I destabilized my system with alcohol in July of 2023 after being stable for 3 years. I had symptoms for several months coming in windows and waves, I felt like I turned a corner in February until I got covid.  A lot of my old symptoms were intensified. I tried going to acupuncture and I felt like it was helping me until he did too much 3 weeks ago, which stimulated me and I’ve been severely suffering ever since.

this whole time I have not changed my dose of Prozac which i was going to start tapering last year. I don’t know if what I’m suffering is still a destabilized nervous system, Long covid, or if from the beginning, this was my Prozac starting to poop out or turning on me.

can anyone give me their thoughts? I’m suffering severely. Thank you so much.

A few months ago I had a few beers with friends and paid dearly for quite a while after… won’t be doing that again.  I also had covid twice and each time I felt that it put me right back at the beginning symptoms of withdrawing.  If you think about it, stress increases the stress hormone cortisol.  Anytime we add stress to an already strained nervous system it takes a while for the cortisol to lower.  What has helped me the most is staying hydrated.  I have atleast one Gatorade zero a day and use magnesium oil on my legs.  The magnesium oil eases pain in my muscles from my imioramine withdrawals, rubbed on my calves helps a lot with restless legs and also calms my anxiety some.

Another thing, once my cortisol is up I have to be super careful even with exercise.  Too much can have me down for a few days.  Be gentle with yourself and inch your way back up… you’ve got this! Love

Hi @This2shallpass

You destabilised yourself with alcohol (happens), no indication it was poopout. I think you need to give your body a break and not try anything new for a while.

Our instinct is to try to change things when they're difficult but in withdrawal we need stability instead. Let your body do its thing. Are you trying Claire Weekes' methods?

I’m not, but I will look into tonight.

I’ve been to acupuncture in the past and I really believe it helped stabilize me the first withdrawal. I guess I’m too sensitive now?

2010- Celexa 20 mg

2012-lexapro 20mg

2015- lexapro 30mg

October 2016- tried a too fast taper of lexapro and completely crashed. I reinstated 10mg after 3 months and it worked.

December 2016- started to wean off lexapro with liquid and got off in April of 2018

got pregnant in June of 2018 and remained off lexapro no withdrawal symptoms.

february 2019- right after I gave birth I started having withdrawal symptoms

March 2019- reinstated 10mg lexapro, it made me very sick

May 2019- did a successful Prozac bridge and immediately felt better.

currently stabilized on 20mg Prozac

Thank you @Tulip52 I appreciate your support.

how long did it talk for you to feel better after covid? I’m concerned I have long covid and this isn’t my regular setback.

@Onmyway is it common to have new symptoms? During this setback I’ve never experienced muscle twitches or pots like symptoms, but after covid and this acupuncture I’m experiencing pots and muscle twitches all over my body.

@This2shallpass Covid is known to cause POTs symptoms. And so is withdrawal. They basically both destabilize the nervous system and POTs is due to autonomic nervous system issues. Also new symptoms come and go. Last year out of nowhere I had severe palpitations- skipped heartbeats. After much testing etc. things were OK and they went away on their own.

There is a thread on acupuncture here. Maybe it will help? I know nothing about it.

My first recovery from Covid (pre-vaccination, old variants) took over 3 months. My POTs doctor (I don't have POTs but a milder postural hypotension) is convinced it is the result of Covid. But everything has gotten better with time. Rest and stability as much as possible is what's needed.

Hi everyone. Still really struggling. Last night my daughter woke me up in the middle of the night and I I started scrolling my phone and I saw a spider on my pillow I gasped and tried to grab it but it wasn’t there. I’m freaking out that I’m going to start hallucinating and go into psychosis. I have really bad OCD surrounding this.

anyone have anything similar?

I think, when you are woken up in the middle of the night or are sleepy, things like this happen. If you have slept well, are wide awake and things like this happen, then it's probably a glitch in the matrix😉.

2001 - ~2003 Paroxetine, quit cold turkey
2005 - Dez. 2023 Venlafaxine, most of the time 75mg, for about 4 years 37,5mg
Dez 2023 - 03/13/2024 quitting Venlafaxine (too fast, skipping doses)
since 04/07/2024 Venlafaxine 12,5mg

04/17/2024 Venlafaxine 25mg

4/29/24 until 5/4/24: Trimipramine, starting at 5mg going down to zero over 5 days

supplements: 500mg magnesium, 100mg aspirin and melatonin spray all taken before sleep (ca. 10pm)

First they sell an addictive drug as harmless and then they leave you alone dosing fractions of miligrams correctly or plunging into the abyss.

Could the spider have just walked away? they are pretty fast

In-between-sleep states are weird as Alfred has said - wouldn't think much of it.

Finally, even if you did hallucinate and even if it wasn't a withdrawal symptom, hallucinating isn't the end of the world. Lots of people live good fulfilling lives like that - it is not always scary. It is more common than you think and than we are led to believe.
