will351
Hi, I have been on 12.5 for 5 days down from 25mgs. I take it in the morning along with 50 sertraline. I want to stay on sertraline for severe anxiety. Have been getting headaches, occasional stomach cramps, skin tingling, and chills since going down on luvox. Are these typical reducing side effects. I cross tapered to 50 sertraline.in late September. I stopped Luvox six days ago at 12.5. I do not want to reinstate because of drug interactions with blood pressure meds. Moderator Emeritus Gridley Posted January 14, 2020 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 14, 2020 @will351 Yes, even though you did a cross-taper, it's not going to be a perfect substitute because the sertraline isn't necessarily going to affect you the same way the luvox did. That means there may be some "holes" that the sertraline isn't covering, resulting in withdrawal symptoms. Another possibility is that these are side effects from the sertraline or that the symptoms are "settling-in" symptoms that will fade as you get used to the new drug. When did the symptoms start? Will, we really need you to fill out a signature so we know what your drug history is. It seems you are making a lot of changes with an antidepressant crossover and now having added in an antipsychotic (Rexulti) for a couple of weeks. Please note we don't recommend adding in new drugs to fix withdrawal. We recommend a slow taper of 10% or less of the prior month's dose. (See - Why taper by 10% of my dosage?). A slow taper is the best way to lessen withdrawal symptoms. Please read the link I quoted from Altostrata about setting up a signature. Link to comment

In fact, I feel better now (as far as depression goes) with less of it in my system. However, all this withdrawal stuff is no cakewalk. I delved into research and books about the efficacy of ADs. I do think the zoloft pooped out for me, and I’m now questioning almost everything regarding psychiatry. Yes, I do have significant anxiety now. I’m learning a lot of coping techniques which will hopefully continue to help me reign it in. I’ve been medicated for 20 or so years, so this is a huge adjustment. I want to taper on the zoloft but need to wait for a bit more stability. You mentioned you had been on it for 23 3 hours ago, will351 said: I am 14 days off luvox waking up with stomach ache today. Cathy4
@will351, Okay, Lynn, the drug signature is different from posting notes in the intro thread. What you have to do is go to your profile, go into your settings, then go into account settings and there’s a link that says “edit profile.” See how after Gridley or Shep post a message there’s different colored type at the bottom of their message? That’s what they need from you, to post that detailed account of your med changes in a signature that appears after every one of your posts. I know you’ve already put it in your intro thread, but it has to be in your signature so they can glance at it every time you post. Does that make any sense or am I just adding to confusion? Moderator Emeritus Shep Posted January 26, 2020 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 26, 2020 Will, please stop tapering the Klonopin. You've been tapering more than one drug at once, which is not a good idea. We recommend staying on the benzo throughout your antidepressant taper. Please see: Taking multiple psych drugs? Year, month and days used. Maybe you can squeeze it in, near your PRESENT meds., as you only get 12 lines. Then hit Save, so you don't lose the edit update. Oh.....never mind will, I see you got the Rexulti in. Good job! Then: Take a look at this link: Keep daily notes of drug schedule and symptoms to track patterns and progress And I copied over a sample daily note, below. - Time and dosage for all drugs taken throughout the day, psychiatric and non-psychiatric. - Following each dose, note any symptoms. If you are having a reaction to the drug, it may take hours for a symptom to show up -- that's why we ask you to keep notes all day long. - If you're not taking any drugs, your symptoms throughout the day. - Your sleep pattern. Since so many drugs disturb sleep, if you find you're waking in the middle of the night, it could be from a drug you took earlier in the evening. If you're not taking any drugs, there may be ways you can improve your sleep. And so forth. A diary, in chronological order, looking something like this: 6 a.m. Woke with anxiety 8 a.m. Took 2.5mg Lexapro 10 a.m. Stomach is upset 10:30 a.m. Ate breakfast 11:35 a.m. Got a headache, lasted one hour 12:35 p.m. Ate lunch 4 p.m. Feel a bit better 5 p.m. Took 2.5mg Lexapro 6 p.m. Ate dinner 9:20 p.m. Headache 10:00 p.m. Took 50mg Seroquel 10:20 p.m. Feeling dizzy 10:30 p.m. Fell asleep 2:30 a.m. Woke, took 3mg Ambien (NOT "took 1/2 tablet Ambien") 2:45 a.m. Fell asleep 4:30 a.m. Woke but got back to sleep Do a day, to the best of your ability, as soon as you can, and then post it, right here on your introduction page. Please also add the date you reinstated Luvox at 6 mg. Create Your Signature in "Account Settings" It takes about 4 days for your nervous system to register a change and a week or longer for your brain/body to get used to the reinstatement, so you may have upticks in symptoms at first. Hopefully the reinstatement will help and you'll start feeling some relief. Please see this thread: Melatonin for sleep If you're waking up during the night, you may want to try reducing the melatonin because it can cause paradoxical reactions, meaning it wakes you up. I also noticed that you're taking vitamin D at night. Some people find this to be a stimulating vitamin that can increase insomnia, so please be careful with this. It may be best taken in the morning. Please note there are quite a few "moderate" drug interactions. Please see: Drug interactions - sertraline, Klonopin, lisinopril, amlodipine, Luvox, Lipitor Great job on the drug and symptoms. Please keep posting this daily. How is your sleep? Please add in the number of hours you sleep each night. Link to comment
will351
Can withdrawal cause shakiness, I don’t know if it’s the klonopin or luvox. Please see: Tremors, shaking, body vibration, internal trembling 10 hours ago, will351 said: I went down on klonopin on December 24 th from .25 once a day to .125. I went back on luvox 6mgs yesterday. Not only these changes, I'm also going to add this part from your signature - Rexalti .25 mg 1/2/20-1/17/20. So you've had a lot of drug changes in the past month. This likely has rattled your nervous system and may take a few weeks or even months to settle down. Hopefully the Luvox reinstatement will help.
