Nicotine and caffeine are both stimulants, which can cause upticks in symptoms for someone with a destabilized nervous system. If you smoke and drink caffeinated tea, you'll have more symptoms. Mutfael
Hello.. For nearly 19 years, I have been taking one Seroxat pill daily, and years ago it was replaced with Cipralex. I do not take more than that, only one Seroxat pill, 20 milligrams, daily. Two years ago, I tried to gradually progress, and the progression continued until two years ago. I reached 2.5 milligrams of Cipralex and I can no longer stand my life at all. Severe lethargy, depression, and severe heart palpitations at the slightest effort. Even if I walk a few steps, I feel extremely exhausted and have pain in my legs, as well as severe phobia. I can no longer talk to anyone! Then, 7 months ago, I was forced to return to the original dose of Seroxat, 20 milligrams per day. The condition improved by 50%, but I still have lethargy and lack of desire for everything, as well as phobias. I want to get rid of this poison. Is it impossible!!? I am still afraid that the previous symptoms will return because my life has really stopped and I am responsible for a family! Administrator Emonda Posted November 10, 2023 Administrator Share Posted November 10, 2023 Hi @Mutfael Welcome back. I have moved your new post back to your own thread. It is best for everything relating to yourself to be in the one spot so that any of the volunteers who try to help you can see what you have previously been advised and what you have subsequently done. I’m sorry to read you have had a rough time tapering from Cipralex (escitalopram). I note, as per your most recent post, that you are now on Seroxat (Paroxetine) as of 7 months ago (please put the date into your drug signature). Back at the start of your thread, getofflex posted a link recommending a maximum taper of 10% per month of the most recent dose. The reductions should get smaller and smaller each month. Looking at your drug signature, it appears that you have gone faster than this…an average of 15% per month and as high as 28% initially. Your last reduction seems to have been 17% before you ended up in emergency. Many of us find that at lower doses of our AD, we need to really slow down our taper. The reductions need to be very, very small. 8 hours ago, Mutfael said: Severe lethargy, depression, and severe heart palpitations at the slightest effort. These are all typical WD symptoms - a sign that you are going too fast with the taper, or that the monthly reductions are too great for you. When you experience an unpleasant WD symptom, you should hold your current dose until you feel stable. If you push on with the tapering plan, it just makes you feel even worse. 8 hours ago, Mutfael said: I want to get rid of this poison. Is it impossible!!? You can taper off this AD. There are most certainly members on this site who have successfully gone off this AD. My understanding is that the AD you take needs to be tapered with great care and much patience. I know of other members that taper much slower, at say 1%-2% per month. I haven't read all 9 pages of your thread, but have you seen the link to the micro taper? Personally, I've found it a more tolerable method of tapering....that said, I still notice WD symptoms, but they are manageable. 8 hours ago, Mutfael said: I am still afraid that the previous symptoms will return because my life has really stopped and I am responsible for a family! Administrator Emonda Posted November 10, 2023 Administrator Share Posted November 10, 2023 Hi Mutfael, Not suggesting to do that permanently. Just as a start, given you said you were worried about tapering again. The point is, try a small reduction at first, build your confidence and reassess from there. I taper at 2% per week for 4 weeks, then hold for a further 2 weeks. This is slightly slower than the Brassmonkey slide I mentioned above. Have a read of the Brassmonkey slide link about, and see what you think about a small reduction at first... 5 minutes ago, Mutfael said: you will remain for many years while decreasing Yes.
