It’s going to be ok.  It won’t be comfortable, but eventually you will realize that you are safe as much as your brain tells you otherwise.  I used you repeat, “You are safe, you are safe . . .” over and over to myself,

Wise words @Rosetta it can feel like we're in a never ending wilderness a lot of the time, but we'll all get back to ourselves and heal, in time.

History of depression and anxiety. Symptoms of PTSD. 1998-1999 Venlafaxine 2006-2007 Prozac.2013-15 Sertraline 50mg. 2015 cross-tapered to citalopram 20mg. 2015-2021 Citalopram 20mg (brief increase to 30mg for 2/3 months in 2019. 01/2021 Dropped from 20mg to 10mg, back up to 20mg til June. 25/6/21 stopped CT. Started 50mg 5htp after a week without citalopram in the hope this would balance out my serotonin levels. After 3 days increased to 100mg 5htp. 11/7/21 Stopped 5htp with the intention of reinstating citalopram at 1mg. 16/7/21 Reinstated cit at 1mg. 2/8/21 Increased dose to 2mg. 28/11/21 10% reduction to 1.8mg.

I was in withdraw from Zoloft from about a year ago. I do not remember feeling waves and windows. Just constant can‘t leave the house anxiety for 6 months. I was given gabapentin to help with that. But after 6 months the anxiety change to suicidal urges, depression and non stop crying. I was given Remeron for this. It stopped the first day I took it. I took it for a week before tapering from 15mg to 7.5 for a week then stopped because I was about to lose my hearing.

then the cortisol spikes, intense fear, GI issues, and GI pain had me bedridden not long after. After awhile it a week of two faded off. And now the symptoms are bearable, not bad considering.

my questions is, is this a window or did I hit the restart.   button on my withdrawal and this is just a honeymoon phase?

It appears you have a symptom called PGAD, that can arise from going off drugs.

What times o'clock do you take your drugs, with their dosages? Is this symptom better or worse after taking any of your drugs?

This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner.

My sleep is erratic. I take my medication in the morning (gabapentin 400mg, welbutrin 450mg, klonopin 0.25mg) when I get up. (between 10am-12am) then I sleep some more. I take my night meds (gabapentin 400mg, klonopin 0.25mg) between 11pm-1am. My symptoms don't seem to be better or worse after medication. The PGAD happens between 5pm-8pm. Is it of high importance to take the medicine at the same time everyday? I was told by my doctor taking it whenever I woke in the morning was fine. Though I already feel foolish for trusting him as long as I did.

Taking your drugs a couple of hours off-schedule can cause the symptoms you're experiencing. Please choose a specific time to take your drugs and be very consistent about keeping to that schedule.

Why do you take gabapentin 400mg, welbutrin 450mg, and klonopin 0.25mg together at the same time in the morning? Why are you taking 800mg gabapentin a day?

This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner.

Gabapentin and klonopin were given to me for withdrawal anxiety. Welbutrin for withdrawal depression. (they called it rebound side effects)  I was told to take them when I got up in the morning. The doctor thought 800mg of gabapentin would keep the anxiety at bay. I'm not sure if 800mg is a high dose or not. I want to get off but am holding off until I'm stable for a few months.

Is it better to wait until your withdrawal symptoms go away to start taper or is it safe to taper while still in withdrawal?

Please stick to a consistent schedule. After you've done that for 4 days, please keep daily notes of times o’clock you take your drugs, their dosages, and your symptoms throughout the day. We need to know how you feel before and after taking each drug, and your symptoms in between. Post 24 hours of notes at a time in this topic, in a simple list format with time o’clock on the left and notation (symptom or drug and dosage) on the right.

This can help us decide on next steps.

Last night I got to fall asleep next to my partner and hold her. Today I slept till 12. I was rested. Then a friend came by to visit and take me on a drive around the park since I don't get out. We even got out of the car and looked at the river. The weather was good. We had a conversation which was nice. And when I felt my body getting worn out, she laid on the bed with me and showed me tictok vids of dogs. I was able to eat without pain. Though I still don't have an appetite. Though I got low mood and restlessness in the evening I was able to take a hot epson salt bath and to distract myself with a light hearted show.

My mood wasn't bad. I wanted this to be recorded somewhere as proof that I was alright. That it is possible for alright things to happen.

I don't know what is to come. But maybe I will be strong. Maybe it will end.

Good to hear! Thanks for making a note of that. Please remember that if the symptoms come up again -- they can go away.

If you want to reduce your drugs, please provide those daily notes in the format requested. We need to know how you feel before and after taking each drug.

I recorded daily symptoms and events. I hope this shows more insight into my symptoms and where I am at.

I was waiting for my symptoms to die down this evening. 6pm-12ish. I noticed my head was fuzzy and I felt tired. Slight headache. I slowly felt myself warm up around my forehead. When my symptoms started to die down I took my temperature and am running a slight fever (99.5). I hope I didn’t catch something. Im worried that will trigger a bad wave. The only thing I can think of is the acupuncturist tried something new to help raise my appetite. Besides that I don’t leave the house, I hardly leave my bed. I wonder if a fever is a sign of sickness or another WD symptom. Also though I was trying to deny it I developed a sensitivity to smells.

It’s hard to maintain hope after 14 months of non stop suffering, but you are right hope and faith are our only tools until this is over. Hello, @ThatOneGirlStitch

Thanks for taking a shot at daily notes. I need to see the times o'clock, drugs and dosages for every day. I also need to see *how you feel* before and after you take each drug. How do you feel after taking Gabapentin 400, klonopin 0.25, and Wellbutrin 450mg in the morning?

There are complete notes for only one day, December 6. Did you skip any of your drugs any of the days in your post? Did you take any off-schedule?

Quote

Symptoms ramp up from 6pm to 1am

anxiety

sadness

stiff legs

pgad
weakness

shortness of breath

This is important. What times o'clock are these symptoms worst? Please include this in your daily notes.

What is your current sleep schedule? What hours do you sleep? What is your current daily drug schedule?

Please be aware the combination of gabapentin and Klonopin commonly may cause fatigue, brain fog, shortness of breath, and low mood.

This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner.

Well was taking daily notes but with my weight dropping 5'5" 115lbs, Im trying to avoid losing any more. I don't have much fat to cushion me, it hurts when I sit. It is taking all my time and energy. My body isn't responding to well to anything I eat (aside from bone broth), But oh well. I need the weight. I spend my day eating, waiting for my belly to empty to eat again. Trying to remember to stay hydrated. Which is hard because sometimes I feel I have to pick food or water. I have diarrhea with ragged edges. From what the internet says this probably could be inflammation. I worry about malabsorption issues. I'm afraid to move around too much because of burning calories. I feel light headed at times. I was so desperate last night I drank 3 tablespoons of sunflower oil (360cal). Didn't work, came back up with other food. Lesson learned. I have an appointment with the nurse partitioner at the Gastroenterologist in about  week. I think I should check for ulcerative colitis, malabsorption, SIBO, gut bacteria in general. I ordered protein weight gain powder, but it isn't here yet. Good news, I was clear of delayed gastric emptying.

Just got to hang in there.

I know this is all very scary.  Your body will return to its normal state, but you may have gut issues while it is working to do so.  I list and gained, list and gained, over and over for years.  There are a lot of serotonin receptors in the gut.  While they are re-activating, or whatever they do while we heal, the whole system will be off.  You will have many odd symptoms.

You are a woman, too, which means that your menstrual cycle will affect WD and vice versa.  I had terrible PMS after I first tried ADs.  Of course, that made me think I needed to try more ADs.  No, I had had an adverse reaction to the first one, and off on a 20 plus year AD nightmare I went.

You may need to have tests and find out information in order to keep from worrying, but, generally, your symptoms are very to likely to be caused by the disruption in your hormones and normal operation of your body caused by WD.  Do y expect the doctors to understand this, and be wary of any medicines they offer.  Other than magnesium and fish oil, treatments often exacerbate the symptoms of WD.  The normally prescribed dose of almost anything will be too much.  Mag and fish oil can bother us, too.  Small test doses and small increases in those two are key.

Hang in there, Rosetta

@Rosetta

Thank you, Rosetta

Your words could not have come at a better moment. I am going to see the GI doctor tomorrow and I’m a wreck. I’m going to try to avoid any test requiring anesthesia. I will be awake if I have to. I don’t think there is anything they can do other then tell me what is wrong.

Returning to normal, honey to my ears. It’s scary not being able to eat right. I’m now having a hard time swallowing smoothies and getting them down. I was just able to swallow this morning. It was hard but I could do it.

Sorry for ranting about my fears. It won’t do any good.

But thank you for posting. Its a reminder not to be bullied by doctors when you just want to know what is wrong. I will avoid medication and surgery at all cost. Unless they say I’ll die. Then I would think on it. :)

Thank you for your kind words and advice. It is good to hear from someone farther along.

I wasn't paying attention to the date. At midnight my house sounded like a war zone. I'm just so tired. I want something good to happen. I want to feel ok and safe. I want to be able to feel love and comfort. I'm lucky right? It could be worse.

It's real, and it's part of what you are going through.  Other members that you support and encourage can see that you do understand what they are going through.
