Mentor mstimc Posted February 19, 2023 Mentor Share Posted February 19, 2023 Hi Kingy. I found, as much as I wanted to stay home, getting out and doing things helped break my negative thought cycle. In fact, my first real window occurred when I went to our son's junior high school jazz band concert. Just seeing the look of joy on his face while he was playing made my anxious thoughts disappear, if only for 20 or 30 minutes. From then on, I knew I'd recover. 2 Tim C Started Paxil for GAD in 1999 Unsuccessful taper attempt in 2006 Paxilprogress helped with a successful taper completed in 2009 Using therapy and CBT to manage my anxiety Link to comment

Kingy
Hello Thank you for responding. I will leave things as they are for about 4 to 6 weeks and see how I feel. I will have to taper Paxil extremely slowly. I am really not sure how I should go about tapering Paxil I was thinking of using a dry cut using scales which I have already. I will need some advice on how to do the taper when the time comes. maybe 10% every 6 weeks would be the safest way to go. If you feel it's my best strategy or you feel I should try something else, please let me know. Moderator Emeritus Shep Posted February 26, 2023 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted February 26, 2023 @KingyAre you able to get a prescription for liquid Paxil? It may be under the brand name Seroxat in the UK. You can taper Paxil with a scale, but the liquid may be easier to get to those really low doses. 1 Link to comment

Kingy
Hello It's been a very difficult 4 weeks but I managed to stay at 10 mg of Diazepam. So I am now on 10 mg of Zolpidem, 10 mg of Diazepam and 20 mg of Paxil. I am wondering what would be best to taper next. I feel brain fogged and DR/DP all the time no matter what I do. Should I taper Paxil next or try Zolpidem? Moderator Emeritus Shep Posted March 25, 2023 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted March 25, 2023 @Kingy Holding for awhile sounds good. You may want to taper the Paxil next. The anxiety you're feeling could be a side effect of the Paxil now that you've made reductions in the benzo. Link to comment

That will be the easiest way to do a liquid taper. If not, here is information on making a liquid from tablets: How to make a liquid from tablets or capsules We recommend crossing over from tablet to liquid gradually, so you'll want to keep some of the drug in tablet and gradually move over to liquid. We recommend starting out with 75% tablet / 25% liquid for a few days and then going to 50% tablet / 50% liquid for a few days and then 25% tablet / 75% liquid for a few days and then 100% liquid. Please don't decrease the dose until you have completely transitioned over to liquid and have a good baseline for how you feel on liquid. Link to comment

Moderator Emeritus Shep Posted March 29, 2023 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted March 29, 2023 @Kingy It depends on how clean your tap water is. Where I live, it's necessary to use a water filter. Many people prefer to use some kind of filtered water. I'm going to ask the staff more familiar with making liquid Paxil what the best ratio of pill to water is. 1 Link to comment

LostInCanada
Hi @Kingy I am on a hold from a CT and then reinstatement of 5 mg paxil. I hope I am not speaking out of turn...just saw your post. My understanding is the homemade liquid lasts 3 days in the fridge. You want to use room temperature water to make it so the drug dissolves properly. Don't use distilled water. To do a 1:1 ratio, it would be 20ml of water with a 20mg pill. Always stir well before extracting. My understanding is also always use the same utensils and way of measurement and extraction as consistency is so important. Initially you can use a larger syringe but as time goes on there are syringes that are 1ml. Also as dosages get smaller you can increase the water ratio portion. Hope this makes sense. I am still cutting (just a 10mg in half) but will eventually transition to liquid so this is the info I have found. You are doing great.👍 1 20 yr+ Paroxetine/ Dec2018-May 2022 20 mg/ May 2022 30mg/2022.07.28-2022.08.24 30mg to 0mg/ August 24-29 2022 10mg Prozac/2022.11.28-2022.12.04- 5mg Paroxetine/Dec 5&6/22 10mg Paroxetine/ Dec 8&9/22 10mg Prozac/ 2022.12.07 to 2023.07.01 5mg Paroxetine TAPER 23.07.02-58mgpw/4.9mgai/ 23.07.21-4.8 mg/23.07.28-4.73 mg/23.08.04-4.65 mg/21.09.23-4.58 mg/27.10.23-4.56 mg/5.12.23-4.54 mg/2.1.24-4.52 mg/9.1.24-4.51 mg/17.1.24-4.49 mg/26.1.24-4.47 mg/6.2.24-4.46 mg/19.2.24-4.44mg /4.4.24-4.43mg/28.4.24-4.4mg/5.5.24-4.39 mg 8am-probiotics/9am-paroxetine, 200mg mag bisglycinate/ 1000mg Vitamin D/noon-1000 mg algae oil (500mg DHA/10mg EPA/620mg Omega 3)/5pm-75 mg DGL/200mg calcium citrate/8pm-.25 mg melatonin "... your strength will be in keeping calm..."-Isaiah 30:15 I am not a medical professional just your peer.
