Sometimes, these things can happen even when there is no trigger.  Or, it could be the common stress of the holiday season.  Many/most of us have extra stress during this time.  Claire Weekes is really good for panic attacks - check out her resources on YouTube and amazon.

Thank you. None of these coping skills help because it feels very much chemical so once it hits it has to run its course nothing minimizes it. I do wonder if there’s cases of people who get stuck This way and their brain can only heal so much. My brain has taken many hits over the years in high school cold turkey random ssris that I can’t remember and an overdose with meds to unalive myself. I worry all that factors in and my brain has given me all it’s capable of giving me and this lamictal experience is something I cannot come back from

Please try to be optimistic and read the success stories. We have many people who’ve been through similar situations to yours, and they have recovered.

if I were your shoes, I would try to avoid any chemicals or drugs that affect my nervous system in the future. That’s what I intend to do.

Thank you is general anesthesia safe during withdrawal? I have to have surgery in February and i am afraid of a relapse. In my windows I feel almost back to normal so i am worried the surgery will trigger a relapse of panic and dpdr

Here is our topic on anesthesia during WD:

Over a year and a half off and walking with panic again. So tired of this. Trying not to feel hopeless. I know I am not as ill as I was 0-7 months off but I can’t help but wonder if this is my new norm: terrified the surgery will set me back into full blown withdrawal and make me as bad as I was in the start.

I had my surgery and now I feel foggy and fake and disconnected again with dpdr and anxiety coming back. I had general anesthesia and pain meds after wards. Will this go away or am I doomed forever? It’s been so many months off meds

Can someone please assist? I am anxious panicky dpdr again not sure if this is a regular wave or caused by the anesthesia. I am over a year and a half off meds. Could the lamictal truly have caused for this for this long? It seems so unbelieveable  and impossible

Hi @Jessie23,

I just wanted to say that I currently have a similar symptom set as you. It’s been about 19 months since acute withdrawal akathisia after a rapid taper off of a SSRI. I was admitted to a psychiatric hospital and placed on clonazepam and buspar. I’ve slowly tapered the benzo for about 15 months and I’m planning on starting my taper off of buspar afterward. I know it’s tough and I don’t always believe it myself, but it only makes sense that healing is inevitable for us. The many, many of people who have suffered before us wouldn’t take the time to write their success stories for any other reason other than they have healed.

You’re not alone, we’ll get through this and we will heal.

Thank you I am just now seeing this post. I appreciate you encouragement. I am still having anxiety panic feeling and dpdr it seems unreal to last thing long. I have read the brain can’t heal because it is lacking the type of cells that can repair themselves. I am white knuckling right now as I don’t want to take a benzo. I cannot believe such suffering from a short exposure to medication over a year and a half later

@Jessie23 I just wanted to reach out and say that I can empathize with you deeply. I will also say though that the fact that you’ve had breaks from the dpdr and other symptoms is a great thing - at least you know that your brain is capable of coming out of it, although I know the waves are awful.

In my case, I have yet to experience any windows. I have been off all meds for almost 14 months now, and I still endure pretty significant DpDR and “brain chaos” 24/7. It’s difficult to stay hopeful that it’s even possible for my brain to actually ever come out of it again. I also have Akathisia still, along with tons of other symptoms.

Please just try to keep in mind that even though you still have waves, you have had beautiful, relatively long clear windows where things have felt normal again. That’s a solid piece of proof that it will go away again, and eventually it will never come back. You are healing, and you’re actually VERY lucky to have the significant periods of time where you get a break and can feel like yourself again. I’d give almost anything to get one day without the dpdr and brain chaos. To wake up feeling good and ease into waking normally again. I can’t really remember what those things feel like anymore because it’s been so long.

Keep going. You’re progressing. And I’ve heard that 15-18 months is a very common timeframe where people feel 90-100% better.

2/2022: off cymbalta, on Trintellix

5/2022: on Pristiq, off Trintellix

6/2022: Increased Pristiq

2/2023: Compazine through IV - immediate severe akathisia

3/2023: CT lamictal and seroquel

Hello, I was drinking a pcos greens blend that had aswhagandha  listed as an adaptogen in the ingredients but didn't say how much specially. I drank it daily for maybe 3-4 weeks. I forgot to drink it this last week and noticed an increase in anxiety and panic. I drank it today and made the connection that the uptick could've been from not drinking the powder. Am I ok to just stop drinking it? Did I do myself damage by not drinking for a week and drinking again today? I am already in protected withdrawl from a mood stabilizer and don't want to kindle or hurt my nervous system.
