I understand your questioning many things right now. And, I don't have any very good answers. But, I hear you. And, you're not alone. I wish there was something else to say or do to ease the suffering. But, it seems there isn't much that hasn't already been said. You are stronger than you know. You can endure. And, you will.

hang in there.

I had a tought day too so I felt the same about God. I'm a bit better now AND I know it will be the same for you. Hang on!

I know this isn't life but you have to fight for yourself Because you are a miracle.

CD off meds in July 2015, not on any medication since. Went through WD nightmare, now dealing with normal anxiety, but decided not to leave this forum yet because I want to support and give hope to others. ♡

Sorry to hear that you are feeling really bad!

I have asked myself on many occasions if there is God and what is the point of this suffering.

Try to remember the windows that you had.

Hang on to something positive.

That will get you through the tough days.

There has to be an end to all of this, but it obviously takes a long time for the brain to heal and revert to its original state.

Best wishes, Hopefull. :)

DRUG HISTORY:

November 2013- Zoloft, ( Bad reaction).

January 2014 - March 2014 Seroquel.( Quit Cold Turkey).

 T Girl,

Hang in there !   I'm " without words", as well .  All you can do is " Breathe" & keep breathing.   No one wants to live like this & it is " torturous".   Just try & keep putting one foot in front of the other, minute by minute.  Hour by hour. Day by day .

Many SSRI's and SSNRI's over 20 years. Zoloft for 7 years followed by Effexor, Lexapro, Prozac, Cymbalta, Celexa, Pristiq, Valdoxan, Mianserin and more - on and off. No tapering. Cold turkey off Valdoxan - end of May 2014

Hi Tina,

I try to find God's presence in Nature and my Kitty. My Kitty was given to me by Nature.

"You're a child of the universe; no less than the trees and the stars, you have a right to be here." (Max Ehrmann "Desiderata: A poem for a way of life.")

Do you still take your clindamycin? How's your tooth? It may get you in a lower mood as well.

Make sure you take plenty of probiotic with clindamycin, drink lots of yoghurt etc. Probiotic should be taken 2 hrs before or after the antibiotic. I don't remember, you've got to check it out on the net.

Unless you're allergic to clindamycin, it should be all right. I was given it for acne issues, tolerated it well. Allergy is when you develop a skin rash etc. It's all in the leaflet.

Antibiotics are not psychotropic drugs, they are safer...

Big hugs to you,

Mel

Hi Tgirl,

I understand what you are going through. I feel the same but we cannot give up. You will destabilize. Once you do, you should stay on the dose you are at, I think, for a while.

I understand feeling desperation with this. Had I known I would be in this position right now, most likely would not have dropped at all.

Hang in there!

I totally understand. It is terrible. It's amazing how a little pill can make you feel awful..

I use to say, if I had to feel like this everyday the rest of my life I would rather be dead..

But I know it just can't possibly stay like this forever even though it feels like it will.

We are stronger than we believe we are.. and in time, it too shall pass. Like everything else does.

We all want a quick fix of the problem and unfortunately it just don't work that way. We should be happy that our brain does heal in time. Can you imagine if it didn't? I wouldn't want to imagine that.

Withdrawl makes it so hard especially when you have children to take care of.

When I'm in a bad withdrawl I can't function what so ever. I'm couch ridden. Can't talk to no one and can't go anywhere. I become agoraphobic. Which I kinda am right now but I'm trying not to push it and stress myself out..

I stay away from stressful situations as much as possible.

We will all feel better in time! Good things come to those who wait!

Hugs!!

Been on Paxil since 96”-97”, 40mg tried 3 times to get off and didn’t work, started a very slow taper Jan 2016, have only dropped down by 3 mg.. on 37mg currently.. have very delayed withdrawals. Last drop was in July 2017.. still have waves and windows.

No need to be sorry! I probably would have done the same. I take it that Melatonin don't help you?

Just be careful and conservative when taking Xanax though.

I have Klonopin here if I need it but I haven't taken it in awhile and if I do its only 1/4 of the lowest dose of a pill.

I have a few questions and I realize that nobody here is a doctor.

Do you think I will ever stabilize on this 1 mg. of Remeron? I feel like it's doing nothing for me.

Why would I feel so good for 6/7 months while tapering (too fast) but, every time I made a cut the better I felt. Then CRASH!

Why would I be doing so well on 45 then wake up ome day to severe agitation and anxiety x100?

I am so worn out, I don't know how I will ever make it out of this.

Thanks for any replys!

 T girl,

Honestly,  what have doctors , done for you ?  You're right .  We're not doctors.  Thank God, for that !     :)   This is much better.

When you say , it's doing nothing, what do you mean, exactly ?  I don't think it's meant to DO  anything.  It just keeps you even and stable.

You said that you tapered too fast , and then crashed .  There is nothing surprising in that .I really think it's  " windows & waves ".

Hang in there.  T.  It will be ok .

T-Girl, when I was tappering Lyrica, I have also never stabilized. I think stabilization is possible if you are tappering very slowly from the beginning so that the system is not destabilized. If you c/t like me or do a rapid tapper it is by many people that they stabilize only once they are totally off the drug. This was by me and also a lot of people I read about. And doing good and have a later crash is also possible. Dont worry you will get better.

Sorry it's so hard tgirl. Unfortunately, we can never really know for sure the whys about a lot of this process. The only thing we can do is respond as best we can. Finding non-drug ways to soothe or rest the nervous system...and the other 100 small things that Dalsaan talks about are key...and not just for WD, but also for the rest of life. WD is a crash course in how to find our way through the difficulties of life.

Remeron for depression. Started at 7.5 mg. in 2005. Gradual increases over 8 years, up to 45 mg. in 2012.Began tapering in June 2013. Went from 45 to 30 mg in the first 3-4 months. Held for a couple of months.Started tapering by 3.75 mg every month or 2, with some longer holding periods. Eventually went down to 3.75 mg. about April 2014. Stopped taking Remeron August 2014. Developed issues with histamine a week after stopping--symptoms reduced through diet and a few supplements. Currently having issues with a few foods. Most of the histamine intolerance has resolved or is at least, in remission.

Current Medications:

Current Supplements: Cannabis (CBD and THC), Vitamin C, D, Quercetin, CoQ10, Tart Cherry, Probiotic, Phytoplankton oil, magnesium, Methyl B. What has helped me most: spending time in nature, qi gong, exercise, healthy diet, meditation, IV vitamins, homeopathy, massage, acupuncture, chiropractic, music, and cuddling my cats..

The same thing happened to me, Tgirl..

When I was tapering I felt great and didn't have any withdrawl symptoms and then I crashed like you...

Then I reinstated to my original dose and it took almost 4 months to feel normal again..and I had some waves and windows through that as well.. I still have some lightheadedness but I'm sure that will go in time too.

I do plan on tapering again down the road but I'm going to go super slow and I know it will take me years to get off but I can't handle the withdrawls so it is what it is..

Magnesium 200mg, foilc acid 1 mg, vitamin d3 5000iu, Blood pressure meds-Verapamil & Irbesartan... Smoke cbd flower once in awhile.

I'm sorry you are not feeling well Tgirl. I'm in the same boat. My husband and friends want to understand but they really can't.

Hi Tgirl,

You will have a life and things will get better.

You did your best, but your brain did not like it.

Not your fault.

I am still stabilizing.

It happens.

We are all learning from our mistakes.

Even if you do a really slow tapper, there are always chances that something could go wrong.

Chin up and keep going.

Treat your self with something that you like.

It is nice to do something that previously made you happy.

Best wishes, Hopefull.

Hi Tgirl,

I am feeling so troubled for you!  I am tapering mirt and want to do my next 10% cut soon, but this all scares me so much, the torment you are going through, that so many have gone through with this evil drug!  My stupid p-doc put me on it after I had mild serotonin syndrome after being in Effexor WD, long story, couldn't eat, lost weight, couldn't sleep....He said it was gentle and that I could play with the dosage, go up as needed.  Before I knew it I was on 37.5 mg and completely flat out apathetic, no will to do anything, could hardly get off the couch to wash myself and eat...I ended up reinstating Effexor and so am on the two drugs.  I have gained weight, and I am a recovered bulimic so I find it so irresponsible that my p-doc would put me on this drug that causes weight gain and is HELL to come off of!

I am so sorry you are going through such a hard time. It seems the low end is where it gets the toughest.  I am so sorry your husband is not supportive.  It is so hard to have no one who can share this with, so thankfully we have SA!

Just know that we are here cheering you on!

Hugs,

SG

Started ADs back around 1995 after bad break-up, starting with Prozac.  Switched to Wellbutrin, and then to Effexor in 2002
Effexor XR 2002-2014 up to 225 mg at one point, down to 37.5 mg towards end but back up to 75 mg in 2014; now realize I had W/D as I dropped down, memory very poor about history.  Extreme emotions, poor concentration as I stepped back down, didn't connect the dots!
Summer 2014 reduced to 0 very quickly, was sick of anhedonia/sexual dysfunction due to meds, depression never controlled if not worse. Didn't recognize WD since symptoms built slowly (thought I had ADD! and menopausal on top of it), starting with severe sweats, very bad cog-fog and memory issues, culminating in weight loss, severe anxiety and depression, panic, severe apathy and insomnia by eight months off.  Saw p-doc who put me on Remeron, increased from 7.5 mg/day to 37.5 mg by May 22, 2015; still doing very badly though able to sleep.

June 1. 2015 Reinstated Effexor XR 37.5 mg, Remeron dropped to 30 mg PM. Immediate relief of symptoms, like nothing had ever happened!  Joined SA and began on advice of friend who recognized it was WD all along! Began tapering in July 2015.

Been tapering both meds ever since, focusing on one more than the other or doing no more than 5% of each per month.

12 mg Effexor and 5.8 mg Remeron (mirtazapine SolTabs to make a solution with OraPlus) as of 5/4/2017

Update 3/14/18: 2.9 mg Remeron and 6 mg Effexor; 6/10/18:  2.6 mg Remeron and 4.9 mg Effexor

Hey Tgirl - did you survive the antibiotics?  And did you get the tooth out?

I'm unsure about Melanie's advice to take probiotics while on the antibiotics - it may ameliorate some of discomfort but my doctor friend says (this is word-of-mouth here, nothing official) that you just waste the probiotics.

But if you are done with the antibiotics, now is the time to stock up on some good old lactobacilli and repopulate your gut with friendly bacteria.  You will feel so much better when you do.

My suggestions are not medical advice, you are in charge of your own medical choices.

A lifetime of being prescribed antidepressants that caused problems (30 years in total). At age 35 flipped to "bipolar," but was not diagnosed for 5 years. Started my journey in Midwest United States. Crossed the Pacific for love and hope; currently living in Australia.   CT Seroquel 25 mg some time in 2013.   Tapered Reboxetine 4 mg Oct 2013 to Sept 2014 = GONE (3 years on Reboxetine).     Tapered Lithium 900 to 475 MG (alternating with the SNRI) Jan 2014 - Nov 2014, tapered Lithium 475 mg Jan 2015 -  Feb 2016 = GONE (10 years  on Lithium).  Many mistakes in dry cutting dosages were made.

Supposedly if you take the probiotics at a different time than the antibiotics, some of the probiotic bacteria will survive.

HI Tgirl,

I hope you are feeling better today. I have been having terrible issues with lack of sleep which results in a god awful hangover, nausea and headache the next day. The headache has been pretty much a constant headache since wd in February. Recenetly I tried melatonin again and it has been helping me. Not EVERY day but most days which is a huge improvement for me.

I started with 1 mg but I'm discovering 3 mg really works for me. If/when I wake at night I take melatonin again. I am trying to avoid using xanax to help me sleep. I think xanax makes things worse ultimately. However, I do use it in desperation sometimes. Like last night. Today I feel terrible.

My recent posts have more detail about my recent melatonin/sleep/headache discoveries if you are interested. I wanted to post this for you in case it can be helpful to you. Remeron wreaks havoc with our sleep. WD from Remeron makes sleep issues much worse. No sleep makes us sick and miserable. And sad. And unmotivated. And fat. And nauseous. And headachy. Lack of sleep goes is unbearable and goes way beyond "Oh my I'm a little sleepy today." All we need is a good night's sleep. Then miracles can happen and the world looks brighter.

Hang on, Tgirl.

Hugs,

Leahy
