Flowers
I can always tell how the day is going to be by how I am when I awake. If it's going to be bad I get the heart palps, inner trembling, runny nose, nausea and crawling or muscle twitching on the skin. Those are the physical signs that precede the mental challenges of anxiety etc. that arrive once my mind is awake! The wave I was in for the last few weeks started to lift last week and I awoke with none of these symptoms. Friday I decided to catch up on some work as I was feeling better and as I was lifting a bucket of water I managed to pull something in my lower back. I get lots of lower back pain in WD anyway but this was different and I had to give in and rest over the weekend. It has been very bad for me psychologically as unless I keep active I feel so much worse. I am hoping that with a few days rest things will improve but I am cross with myself that I am laid up somewhat just when the wave was easing! I am trying to keep myself occupied with TV and reading but it is not the same as being outside and active. The pain seems to increase my anxiety as I suppose the body is under more stress when injured. My stomach problems continue too and it is a challenge getting to the bathroom quickly when I can't move very well right now! I saw my GP last week who has arranged for some tests just to make sure all is OK in that department. I am sure it is WD related but need the peace of mind it is nothing more serious that needs treatment. I have a friend arriving tomorrow for a week so am hoping I will be able to enjoy some leisure time with her. At least it will be a distraction having someone else around. All my friends know what is going on with me since WD hit. It has been too long to keep it from my nearest and dearest and I think it is important that people know the terrible effects these drugs can have. I have to say that everyone has been very understanding so I am lucky. I know there are some who don't get it because they havn't been through it but they are still sympathetic and understanding. Hope everyone is having or will have a good Monday. Health and healing and love from Flowers xxx 15 yrs on 20 to 30 mgs CITALOPRAM. Scorpio
Hi flowers so sorry to read about your damage to your back and triggering another wave but it will get better. It is so frustrating that any physical problem kicks everything off again. You must take it easy and rest it don’t prolong it as I did with Jude. Mine is finally getting easier I wish I could say the same for instability but going through the same bad wave - seems never ending. What is with the blocked and runny nose I get that too. I hope tomorrow goes well for you and nasty problems can be ruled out. Having your friend with you will be lovely but don’t over exert yourself hopefully she is one of the people who understand the problems you are going through. Healing and health back to you flowers big hugs 2006 After sudden death of mother put on 20mg of citaloprom for depression. 2014 Drug stopped working after two weeks of panic attacks felt fine. Bad reactions throughout the time I was on it Have been on this until may 2017. Stopped over two weeks. Felt fine for 5 weeks after initial dizziness, nightmares, nausea, insomnia. joy2730
Hi Flowers All your above symptoms are the same as I get. I am doing well on 18 mg but I think the symptoms are in reserve all the time. The other night I ran up the stairs and noticed loads of physical symptoms immediately! Sorry you have an injury, but it is good to get it checked out. Hope you enjoy your friend visiting. Sometimes when withdrawal hits bad I don't want to be with anyone! I was following someone called TikkiTikki on here, she was withdrawing from citalopram and had gone down to 9 mg and this disappeared off this site, I am hopefully not guessing correctly that it all caught up with her. I am in a good place today though, quite positive, I am even thinking that some health research might occur that helps with SSRI withdrawal now that the situation is being recognised more. To be honest it was recognised years ago, withdrawal from antidepressants, even before SSRIs had been invented, but it was felt it was something no one could discuss. However, since then many people have started on these drugs, whereas then it was a rarity. Those are the physical signs that precede the mental challenges of anxiety etc. that arrive once my mind is awake! Hi Flowers, I saw the above post of yours. I too can usually tell what sort of day it's going to be when I wake up. Once in a while I'm wrong and I get a much worse wave, or things start to get better but most of the time I'm right. At the moment I have inner trembling which has been with me for the last 3 days. Usually it comes and goes, but for some reason it's now sticking with me. I really hate the trembling. It's been light so it is bearable. I wish I understood the inner trembling more. I will ask about that on my page as well and see if anybody understands what is physiologically causing it. I too get a runny nose, but along with that I get painful sinus pressure, also burning skin, sweats, and sometimes muscle jerks. Ah the joy of WD. I am hoping to stabilize soon as it's been two and a half months in this wave, although it's lighter than it was two months ago. I'm sorry to read about your back. I hope you are able to enjoy your friend and the back problem does not get in the way. Hang in there with the stomach issue. xo RS -----Also hello to LittleGrandma, I see you get the trembling as well. I am not a health professional in any way. I do not give medical advice. Scorpio
Hi junglechicken It’s horrible as well as all the other horrible symptoms. Fingers crossed for your property. Such a stressful time for you, it can’t be helping with your anxiety levels. Where were you before uk and how long have you lived here. 2006 After sudden death of mother put on 20mg of citaloprom for depression. 2014 Drug stopped working after two weeks of panic attacks felt fine. Aug 2014. Doctor put me on lyrica for rash on face, diarrhoea, sleeplessness, muscle cramp, bruising. Initial dose too strong, halved dose. Stopped taking it 22/10/14 2014 severe anxiety after several ssri's attempted, seem to have developed severe sensitivity to any drug, but giving severe reactions put on cipralex drop form.started on 2 drops and had to increase by 1 drop every 3 days. Eventually got to 12 drops and had to stop as side effects every step of the way dreadful. Psychiatrist kept telling me to stick with it and my body would get used to it. Eventually down to 8 drops. Bad reactions throughout the time I was on it Have been on this until may 2017. Stopped over two weeks. Felt fine for 5 weeks after initial dizziness, nightmares, nausea, insomnia. Given diazepam by gp and told to take them when anxiety bad. Have only taken them very rarely as they frighten me. Last two weeks severe anxiety returned and feeling hopeless 11July 2017. Cipralex 2mg. Anxiety, nausea still severe 13 July 2017 Cipralex 1mg due to advice of too high dosage by kind person on thus site. so dropped from 2mg to 1mg and feelings of anxiety still at severe. As well as nausea, headaches, fatigue. 15 July still feeling extremely anxious verging on panic. Nausea, feelings of fainting, fatigue. Lots of head pains 3 August. Three weeks into trying to stabilise on one drop of cipralex. Still have waking from 4am. Sporadic upset stomach. Nausea. High anxiety. Throbbing/burning in nether regions seems to have eased for time being but stabbing/burning in calves of legs. Tinnitus. Occasional half to whole better days but mainly still struggling. wantrelief
Hello Flowers! I am so glad your wave lifted! How wonderful it must feel not to wake up to those awful symptoms. I am so sorry though about your back - what horrible timing. I am also hoping this will get better after a few days of rest. Please don't be cross with yourself as it isn't your fault this happened. I hope you have a wonderful time with your friend and that their company provides a good distraction. Also hoping that everything turns up ok with your stomach. It probably is WD related but always good to check it out just in case. I'll be thinking about you and hoping you are able to get out and about with your friend! -1/06 - 3/07 Cymbalta. Fast taper (essentially CT); withdrawal symptoms after 4 mos (didn't realize was WD) -10/07: 100 mg Zoloft; 1 mg Klonopin - tapered off Klonopin after 4 mos. Several unsuccessful slow tapers of Zoloft; went up and down in dose a lot -Spring 2013 back on 1 mg Klonopin to counter WD symptoms; switched over 5-6 mos from Zoloft to 35 mg citalopram -Two attempts at slow tapering citalopram, always increased dose due to WD; also increased Klonopin to 1.25 mg in 2014, then to 1.5 mg in 2015 -8/17-9/17: After holding one year at 20 mg, feeling withdrawal symptoms due to stress - slowly increased to 25 mg. No change in symptoms after 6 months (? tolerance ?) - decided to start citalopram taper February 2018 (still on Klonopin 1.5 mg). joy2730
Hi Flowers So glad you are well and enjoying your visitors. Glad also your back is better now. You are now making really good progress, that is great. Make the most of feeling great, I am also well at present. It is windy and rainy in UK today, but I don't mind the wind and rain and the weather is cooler which suits me as I tend to feel hot when I get withdrawal symptoms. I guess Spain will still be warm? Flowers
The last of our visitors this year have left now and fortunately my window continued while they were here. I felt normal for a lot of the time and could enjoy taking them out sightseeing. I now find myself in a wave again. Not a strong one as am able to get out and about but the nausea is back along with waking with heart palps and the shakiness is a problem a lot of the day. I am not depressed so that is good but have to try not to dwell on symptoms or this can quickly change. I am just taking each day gently and resting if I have to. The windows are getting longer and the waves are not so strong so there is still improvement going on but very slowly. The windows and waves pattern has changed from a few months ago. Instead of getting a window for around 2 weeks I am now getting nearer to 3 weeks. Hope everyone is doing well. AliG
Hi Flowers. I'm so glad you were able to enjoy your window with your visitors. That sounds lovely and I hope you had some good times with them. Hopefully, you got another glimpse of what it feels like to be feeling good and maybe the memory of that will also help you through some of the rocky times. I have found throughout this, that if I can really hang on to those moments, then it gives me a burst of optimism to keep going, knowing that positive changes are happening, no matter how slow they may seem to be. I'm a bit confused, though. Are your waves getting longer or less? Do you mean you they are less frequent? Or more? Anyway, It sounds encouraging even though you're back in a wave. It's still progress. You still have the heart palpitations but at least you don't have the depression for now. Taking each day gently is the best thing you can do for yourself, so I'm really pleased to hear that. Keep treating yourself with gentle loving care and keep your toolbox full of those things that help ease the symptoms and also bring you joy. (( hugs)) Ali Many SSRI's and SSNRI's over 20 years. How are you? I agree Ali - those moments of feeling normal are such a great boost and something to hold on to when in a wave. I think I made a mistake in my post which I can't edit now so no wonder you are confused! I meant to say that I was getting a strange pattern of two weeks exactly in a wave and then 2 weeks exactly in a window. The last couple of months this has changed and I am now getting around 3 weeks in a window. Sometimes 3 weeks in a wave but more often less than 2 weeks. I find I am not taking to my bed when in a wave now as they are not so devastating. I am getting to recognise the signs that I am heading into and out of a wave which is great. It is always a set back when I go into a wave and I am convinced I will be like this forever but thinking sensibly about what is happening I can see an improvement. I felt rotten today when I got up but managed to get into town to the post office and then did some gentle gardening. I still felt nauseous and agitated but distracted by being outside. Then I went to the supermarket and bumped into a friend so had a lovely chat which cheered me up. I have been resting this afternoon but feeling better. I am grateful that the day turned out better than I thought! Lots of love and hugs Ali xxxx Flowers 15 yrs on 20 to 30 mgs CITALOPRAM. Best, Andy Sertraline 50mg and Clonazapam .375mg from 2000 -- symptoms of dizziness Spring 2012 increased to .5 Clonazapam and 100mg Sertraline -- no improvement Benzo microtaper from November 2012 to November 2014 (followed benzo sites "taper benzo first") Started Sertraline taper in December 2014 cut by 25mg to 75mg; 62.5mg 1/1/15 and 50mg on 2/1/15 Held at 50mg through April 5 to use liquid Reduced dosage in 10% or less drops from 50mg to 25mg -- at single tablet of 25mg on 10/5/15 Transitioned to all liquid for accuracy while tapering -- Horrible insomnia -- back to 25mg liquid and held until October 1, 2016 10/16 -- 11/18 tapered very slowly to 10.6mg. No real improvement and never really stable so updosed to 12.5mg (1/2 a pill) for convenience and long hold. wantrelief
11 hours ago, Flowers said: The last of our visitors this year have left now and fortunately my window continued while they were here. Love from Flowers xxx Hi Flowers, I am so glad your window continued while your visitors were in town. How wonderful that you felt normal during that time and were able to enjoy your time with them! Scorpio
Hi flowers how are you, any lessening of your wave? I hope so the only things I could find that helped a little bit with the nausea is peppermint tea, I use twinings which if they haven’t got over there you can pick up a boxful when home. The other thing is grating ginger, pour boiling water over let it steep then pour the ginger water into another glass add some lemon juice and a little honey. Hope they help. Im still in an excruciating wave, absolutely raging anxiety, nausea, crying everywhere and complete zombie. My poor husband I’m not sure how they get us through it. The worst thing with waves is they rob us of hope and optimism reducing us to frightened three year olds, well they do me. Incapable of thinking it will change for the better again. I read your thread and see improvement comes even with all the devastating side effects you have suffered so I am taking comfort in that. Hopefully we will both see better days very soon. Love scorpio Hi Scorpio I have just posted on your thread as read how badly you have been today. Thanks for the tip on peppermint tea. I know we can get mint tea as we are close to Morocco and they love their mint tea there. I will investigate peppermint - doubt if I will get twinings but might find a Spanish brand. I will also try the ginger - I like ginger (especially crystallised and covered in chocolate!) and adding the lemon and honey sounds great. I know exactly what you are going through as have been there myself many times. Yes there is always hope. I am proof that windows can come along which shows things are getting better. Waves just smash us to bits and it takes all our strength to believe we will ever see another window - but we do. I wish you the strength to hold on as best you can. Flowers
I have made a bit of a mess of today. I didn't sleep well last night as had cramp in my feet. I still awoke early though with heart palps and feeling jittery. Couldn't face any breakfast and usually I force myself to eat something but nausea was bad and then I forgot. I forgot a lot when I am in wave! I then went out with my husband for most of the day doing some work and then visiting a friend in hospital. Still hadn't eaten anything. Our friend in the hospital has broken 4 ribs and was in a lot of pain and struggling to breathe. This weirdly brought on anxiety in me and I was struggling to breathe too although I kept it well hidden. It was as though his symptoms had transferred over to me! I felt as though I was going to pass out. The last time I was in a hospital to visit was nearly 2 years ago when our best friend died and it brought it all back. I felt so weak and wobbly I could just about make it back to the car. Got home and felt nauseous, shaky, anxious, trouble breathing so just went to lie on the bed. My brain felt overloaded and my body felt overstimulated. My feet were freezing cold and I couldn't get warm. Muscles twitching in legs. Still in bed and not feeling much better. Want to sleep but can't. So I have only myself to blame . Concentrating too much on distraction and not enough on relaxing and rest. Note to self: Doing too much while in a wave will make symptoms worse. Take the time to think first before going into situations (like the hospital visit) that will upset you. Remember self preservation. This has been a learning day and I will try to look after myself a lot better during this wave and make sure I get enough rest. No matter how much you want to feel normal in a wave you have to be gentle with yourself. Just wanted to get some thoughts down 'on paper'. Flowers xxx 15 yrs on 20 to 30 mgs CITALOPRAM.
