You tried those techniques over a total of one day?

I have unfortunately. I did order some magnesium chips for the bath off Amazon and should be here tomorrow. I’ve tried everything. I’m developing anxiety around going to bed now because I can’t sleep. My brain literally will not turn off. It’s activated 24/7 and it’s freaking me out

You're going to have to be more patient and persistent in your self-care. We do not expect instant results in one day.

As explained earlier, it can take months for natural recovery, with lots of ups and downs. You will need to learn to surf the waves. Nobody but you can do this. We don't have any instant answers.

The past 3 days have been ok with some anxiety ( I have gad, health anxiety)

As explained earlier, typically recovery is in waves and windows, windows being "okay" periods followed by frustrating waves. You have already seen signs of a window, most likely you'll continue to get them if you don't do anything to rile up your nervous system more (drinking alcohol, taking antibiotics or other drugs, etc.).

To get through this, you will need to learn to manage your health anxiety. Read

Health anxiety, hypochondria, and obsession with symptoms

Non-drug techniques to cope with emotional symptoms

Easing your way into meditation for a stressed-out nervous system

Music for self-care: calms hyperalertness, anxiety, aids relaxation and sleep

Ways to cope with daily anxiety

Dealing With Emotional Spirals

All of these techniques depend on your being willing to apply them. As explained earlier, since you had a severe adverse reaction to a drug, we wouldn't suggest trying another. We have no instant remedies. If you want a promise of an instant fix, please talk to a doctor.

As others here have stated, keep working on the natural things to help with insomnia each night.  It takes time to learn new habits.  Eventually, your brain will work this out.  It's important to try to reduce your anxiety around insomnia, as this will tend to cause a downward spiral that makes it worse.  Anxiety revs up your nervous system, which makes it even more difficult to sleep.  As difficult as it may be, radical acceptance would help you.  Accept that right now you cannot sleep.  Acceptance doesn't mean you approve of it or like it, it just means you accept that this is the reality at this time.  That will help lessen the anxiety.  Read this article about acceptance:

Radical Acceptance

Another concept is to trust that your brain and body will heal in its time, and that we cannot force them to heal on our timetable.  This post explains it eloquently:

Let Go of Control

Thank you! I didn’t even think about that! I ordered a weighted blanket and eye mask today so hopefully that will help along with the sleeping. I actually had a dream last night, may have even slept for a Hour or two. Insomnia is still going strong. I have found guided meditations at night are somewhat helpful but my hearing is soo sensitive it almost hurts to listen.

@StarShopping87  Welcome to SA....Lexapro is a mighty fine drug wouldn't you say🤢......I am struggling with it too..........I can see you are in a scramble trying to make sense of what is happening to you.....I know that you are doing what you can to stop the spiral of panic.......

As you will hear over and over, time, time, time, let your body heal...........Unfortunately we have to get past our morphed and panic filled thoughts.........There are so many coping skills that help.  But I think the biggest one is to be kind to yourself.  Learn what you can on how to over come this----

I lost a lot of weight too and I can relate to the  nausea and the ----sadly I had a few extra pounds to cushion the blow----But I think I  could find a better way to lose weight lol----

I am glad to see you are reading Baylissa's book........I have hers- Recovery and Renewal......As you can read she is very adamant we are healing every second of everyday.......Do you visit her website........

Rest assured you are not alone.....We are here for you in anyway we can help😊

@StarShopping87 I’m glad you are finding some things that help. It takes a little time to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Everyone is different.
when my ears are sensitive I turn volume way down or if one ear is sensitive I just use the other. Just keep working at it and it will get better and better! Come to think of it if I could talk my wife or kids to read me a story to go to sleep 🤔😁. Hey you know what else will put you to sleep is an online training video like for work 👍

Curious to know how many cases of immediate ADR you’ve seen come and go? I get a lot of people don’t come back because it’s a very traumatic experience, but I can’t hardly find anything on here. I’ve gotten in contact with people who are in my shoes, but estimated guess? I’ve seen some people haven’t logged on in a year or so, but there aren’t many posts. Do people delete their profiles and the posts?

@StarShopping87 I have seen a couple just browsing through. But I haven’t been looking either. This website is so huge. One of the long time mods could probably answer that question.

I believe I actually had an adverse reaction myself 22 years ago. I had all you had but no vision or bp symptoms. I thought I was going crazy. The anxiety I had when I went to see him became about 3 times worse after I took the drug he gave me. He gave me a 20 mg Paxil and it sent me through the roof. Just keep taking it he says. I cut it to 10 mg on my own and it leveled out.  There are many folks like us that you just can’t throw a high dose at us. I believe if dr would have started me at a low dose of 2 mg that might not have happened. But they just don’t know. They only know what drug companies tell them.

Yes! Thanks for posting these as well. I haven’t been able to find much on here.. but In general, I was just curious how many people (estimated) the mods/admins have known to have this story personally. It just seems so rare.  Like for you yourself, how many people do you think you have come by to have a immediate adr?

It’s hard to say because a lot of the people who come in here have been on multiple drugs and we’re not always sure what caused the symptoms - drug combinations, starting and stopping drugs, adverse reactions.  I can’t give you a number. Most adverse reactions that I’ve dealt with happened over the course of several weeks or even months. The good news is that you do heal from this as well. It takes a long time but less long then if you’ve been on the drugs for years.

My sleep seems to be improving just a tiny bit.. baby steps. However last night I woke up I’m in the middle of a dream and was completely delusional, the room was spinning, my heart was pounding and I was terrified. It took me a minute to calm down as I put on a guided meditation and did some breathing exercises. Eventually I went back to sleep (not for long) I woke up this morning and I just feel weird. Kinda dizzy, I’m nervous and kinda feel scared? I have knots in my stomach and I don’t feel like doing anything. I just want to stay under the covers. I remember doing this a few times earlier in the beginning but dang it’s horrifying waking up like that. Yesterday I had a brief very small window (with symptoms) but it’s the best I’ve felt in the past week. I think maybe it’s because I’ve actually slept a little. Idk. Yesterday morning was hell. I couldn’t keep myself busy enough to take my mind off things and I was very wrestless. By the afternoon I was feeling a little better. I have a really hard time in the mornings and later afternoon because I feel the days just drag and I can’t keep myself busy, I ordered some stuff off Amazon to do like 3d art puzzles and I think I’m going to start spring cleaning. Just ready for some normalcy.

To tag someone type @ and their name. Select it from the list. It sounds as though you are improving which is good.  This is a very slow process with waves and windows.

Please do not private message me.  Only tag me for urgent questions about tapering and reinstating - thank you.

@StarShopping87  This is a powerful drug and the withdrawals are not fun..........I can relate to the htiead hurting......I had/had crushing in on top feeling-burning-freezing-tingling-buzzing-numb-sore spots that move around my brain just to name a few and then throw in a bad headache here and there...I have burning eyes and tongue at times. Lately I have gums and brain that feels like it is coming out of Novocain  and I want to rip both of then out........Last night I almost felt like I should hold my arm or I was going to grab at my head........

Your brain is working to heal---all the things that you are going to feel are apart of your brain trying to heal...

Remember to be kind to yourself and patient.......Spring clean--wow that take energy.

Way to go.......If you have a tablet you can down load apps for puzzles.....I use to do them a lot and well the brain didn't like it when I was in my worst WD--I did on the other day  -Yeah I also have different games that I like to play.

I do have some weird brain sensations, like a craving feeling. Almost like hyper stimulated? Idk. Last night I got this weird feeling like a snake was slithering through the right side of my temple. I massaged it and it stopped but it was so freaky. I feel the need to do something but I’m exhausted. I think my phone has a lot to do with my headaches from looking at the screen. I’m very sensitive right now and can’t stare at screens for long. The pressure isn’t constant but man does it suck!!

Insomnia kicking in hard tonight… right before I start to doze I get this weird uneasy sensation, almost like I’ve quit breathing but I know I am. Anyways, it startles me and I’m wide awake in fear. I can calm myself down with deep breathing. It doesn’t feel like adrenaline jolts. any idea what this could be? My body just feels soo weird. Almost like I’m falling.

Yes, it likely is chemical anxiety.  That is a result of our nervous systems being destabilized.

Is it possible to have more manageable waves throughout this process or are all of them severe? I feel like my bad days are manageable but then I wonder if it’s just a “ok” window? Do they get worse over time?
