Yes, I don't know anyone who reacts to vitamin D the way I do. It's ridiculous but no one is bothered about finding out why it happens so guess I will be just one of those things I avoid.

I am in the pits of despair. I don't know what to do about the excruciating pain I'm in. Any of the meds the doctor tried either did not touch it or made me feel ill. The pain is not under control and I don't know how to get it under control. 

My MRI was run again, they said some degenerative changes in the facet joints but can that honestly be the cause of how much pain I'm in. 

I'm at a loss of what to do. This is the most desperate I have ever felt. If this pain isn't sorted I don't think I am going to make it out of this. 

Without the pain I might have said I was heading in the right direction for healing but this pain is the worst thing ever and I'm terrified.

I was in a stressful job which we thought was the cause but i had been doing it a little while. It just seems odd 2015 I was fine took vit d 4 days later bam antidepressant and propranalol prescribed. Took vit d this time few days later all the symptoms I had last time

I think stress definitely predisposes us to bad reactions but even so that's a remarkably strong reaction to vitamin D. Given it happened both times I doubt it was a coincidence. Did you take the same brand and dose of vitamin both times? If you're only a little deficient in D it's not something to worry about.

No different types each time. First one was 800iu daily from doctor prescription. This time was 400iu from a supplement. 

There were no added ingredients either. 

It just seems a bit to uncanny to me. 

But I dunno anymore

800IU isn't even that much. Thanks for the extra details. It's useful to document these things in case other people have a similar situation. Are you able to get enough sun in the summer?

Yes I walk a lot so no reason I wouldn't get sun exposure

It's great you can get sun. I'm so sorry you're in such pain. I can't imagine it.

 

Are you able to exercise to the point where you'd get some endorphins? They're the body's own painkillers. But if you're very reactive these days more intense exercise than you're used to might destabilise you, for all I know, so the key is to ease into it.

 

If you haven't already, I'd ask for a referral to a pain clinic and also read up on pain. A few years ago I had nagging, minor chronic pain -- nothing as bad as yours -- and I was looking forward to a possible surgery with a particularly long and painful recovery. Much of the above is about psychological approaches to managing pain. That's not to say the pain isn't real, but we feel pain more intensely when we're psychologically or physically distressed. But when we turn down the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight system) we reduce pain intensity. That's not as easy as taking a pill but it helps and it's safe.

I am currently seeing neurologist and spinal specialist to try and get to the bottom of it. The pain is so unmanageable that some sort of pain relief is most likely going to need to be required. 

You are very sweet to respond to me. 

I'm worried that the pain will become permenant and that I will be stuck with it forever because I just couldn't live that way. 

I'm very scared

Had to use an emergency dose of morphine last night as I couldn't take the pain anymore. 

I hope this won't set me back and make things worse

I hope it gave you the relief you needed and that it doesn’t set you back. Sometimes you just have to do something drastic like this. What does the doctor think is going on at this point now? Anymore thoughts on the cysts?

The doctor said there wasn't much of note on my scans to explain the amount of pain I'm in. I honestly don't know what I'm supposed to do.

Thats a common problem in withdrawal- persistent diorreah. Use an electrolyte and a good ibs probiotic. It’s truly helps 🌻

I'm so sorry you're in so much pain. It must be really distressing. Please don't think about the worst that could happen, that just makes you feel worse! How did you react to the morphine?

If it makes you feel any better the crying has slowly started to come. It still doesn't feel normal but I could feel it changing over time.

Don't know why I am so confident today...but yep, we will do it. We will survive and be fully restored in the end...and then we go dancing through the town and make all psychiatrists take their own medicine...

It's a shame. I could see over time some things were slowly improving but this new pain I have is unrelenting and there's no reprieve. That I can not survive

You will do it. It's withdrawal, the pain or the drugs that are destroying your faith. I believe you will do it. If you need more meds at the moment, don't be harsh on yourself. You will catch up again with tapering later when you are in a better situation. I had also my setbacks and take now another drug because of sleeping problems for 3 weeks.

The problem is we are still working out if I have an actual problem. 

And the meds they give give me to help with the pain.....didn't work

I still believe you will do it, even if there is some physical problem causing your pain. This can and will heal as well.

I think pain can put you in a vicious circle. The pain robs you off your mental strength and without resilience the pain is much harder to bear.

 

I haven't read all your thread...do you have withdrawal from quitting Venlafaxin?

I'm 21 months off. I won't reinstate. The drugs made me ill also so not really an option

I have just (yesterday) taken another drug and it seems to be saving me for now (and hopefully will not destroy me later).

Trimipramine for insomnia and anxiety. It's a liquid and easy to dose. Took not much and it seems to work. I think it will bring me at least over the next 2 weeks.

Had your tried melatonin for sleep?

Yes, I tried melatonin, but with no success. I usually go to sleep at 10:30pm and then fall asleep around 11pm. If it's a good night like yesterday I sleep until 4:30am. At this time every morning cortisol kicks in and I wake up anxiously, even with the drug I am taking now. If I am having a bad night I wake around 1am and then fight for every minute of sleep, only getting very shallow sleep.

I might need to go to sleep earlier (haven't tried so far because I am not used to it) since 4:30am seems to be like wall I am hitting every night, which I probably can only overcome with pretty strong drug use (a couple of days ago I took 0.5mg lorazepam and slept until 8am).

Try an eye mask? 

Make your room as dark as possible? 

I think I heard something about baby asprin controlling the morning cortisol rush? 

Blood light blocking glasses? 

Magnesium?

Thx, I have an eye mask and ear plugs. I want to try magnesium, haven't really tried yet.

Haven't heard about aspirin in this context, this sounds interesting.
